Stupid AI Moments

Im going to try some of those other examples posted earlier soon. Lol the A.I's can be so stupid sometimes.

you mean my examples at sarthe and nurburgring? gee that's great fun to watch when i had gt4 every time i'd just watch the replays over and over and over again

Heres something people should try,

Select the Polyphony F1 in arcade mode, set the A.I difficulty to 10 then go to the test track. For some reason when the A.I's are drafting each other some of them will just swerve into the wall on the right hand side, sending themselves well up into the air. It's great fun to watch the replays.

Exactly what I found out last night. Works better if you use a heavier car to send them flying again once they've spun off the wall. 👍

In the Grand Valley Enduro in GT1, I used to force the opponents pit if I couldn't beat them by pushing them into the pit entry wall, they'd reverse and then drive into the pits, but instead of the pit lane 'catching' them straight away, they'd spend at least 3 or 4 minutes trying to drive through the wall, giving you about 3 laps lead.

The Castrol TOM's Supra was nutorious for this trick ;)

I like easing up behind the RUF yellowbird in a large corner and ever so lightly tapping him in the rear bumper, lol, the cars so unstable anyway , just ease off a hair and watch the poor AI try to deal with it.

mine's more of a glitch resulting from a crash. on fuji i accidenally ran into car causing it to go off the track. and then he spent the best part of 2 hours (no joke i watched it) he would reverse, then go forward and repeat until another car hit him back on track.

I still get a good laugh out of those cars pitting in. i didn't mean to bump!

Oh and I also whacked a CLK-GTR broadside on one of the 3 lap battles... he ended up in reverse! He was at the back of the pack when I was done with him!

This is more of a question. I was driving the Ring 4h. in my fully modified Lotus 111r & went in for my stop, swapped to B-spec and left the PS2 for a while. I came back later when the driver was on a pit lap, and noticed he was drifting every corner. Has anyone seen this?

Bad tires, most likely.

Or your suspension settings may be too stiff. Try lowering the spring rate a bit, that might help.

Welcome to GTPlanet philly cheese

here, if you want to add something like that, use the edit button [i've learned from that after a few times]

edit: mind you there was 13 minutes in between posts

I get into a Lister Storm Race Car in Arcade Mode, select 10 difficulty, (I dont remember the tires) and went on the High Speed Ring Reverse, then a Panoz Esperante crashed into a wall, then every car started crashing and spinning out, but I drove over the grass and avoided the crash. Also I select the N1 Tires, and race the computer. I switch the tires into SS tires while the AI is still on N1's. Then I sit back and watch the fireworks. :)

I had this kind of problem with my TVR speed 6, I let bob drive it for a while and the tires were worn out so much that he couldn't drive into the pits crashing into the wall, so he lapped another round doing the same thing again. :dunce:
Almost lost this race cause of that! Slapping speed to 1 helped to get him into the pits. :yuck:
Damn bob.:grumpy:

hey for a good [long] funny race get the Pagani Zonda c12s 7.3 and select N1 tires at Nurburgring, go to race and enjoy:)

I searched for this and didn't find anything so don't sue me if this has already been done.

Anyway, I've done a similar thread in GT3 and I thought I should start one here.

What are some stupid AI moments that you've seen (besides all the time, LOL) in GT4?
I've got a couple:

In Fuji Speedway '80s, if you do Arcade Mode in an under 30-horsepower car, something funny happens. You know the place right after the first turn where the road splits off into the chicane for the '90s version? When all the AI cars (remembering that they are 17 hp cars) go through this section, they brake! They're going like 60 and then they brake to 40. Then they start to speed up again. I don't know why.

Another thing in Fuji '80s is if you're in a midrange 250-hp ish car, like the Beetle RSi (only one that came to mind), and you come to that same place in the course, if you push another opponent into the grass they do something really stupid but really funny. They'll brake, stop, go backwards, turn, go forward like 2 feet, brake again, go backwards, turn the other way, and continue in that pattern. You can't see it during the race because you keep driving, but if you watch the reply (with the display on) in the other car's view you can see it. Eventually they leave the section but it takes like a whole lap. I'd show a replay but I don't have the right equipment, so go try it out!

One thing I'm sure you've noticed is when you get into a really fast supercar like the Tommi Kaira ZZ-II and race on Sarthe II (the one without chicanes), the AI always overshoot the turn at the end of the long straight. Normally they wouldn't, but since they're going so fast and they have so bad brakes, they brake but fly past the turn, through the 100 feet or so of sand and smack into the wall. It's really funny when all 5 of the AI's are doing it at the same time.

Finally, if you get in a Mazda RX-7 or some other Japanese sports car and go onto Suzuka Circuit (full), the AI's programming is even worse than usual. After you pass the midway point between the West and East sections, and there's the right hand turn leading into the small straight where you normally only have to go to fourth gear, the AI doesn't brake the first lap around. So, you guessed it, all the AI overshoot the turn and slide into the sand. Usually there's a couple of crashes involving spun-out cars. On the second time around, though, the light goes on and they're like, "oh! I need to brake!" so they don't do it anymore.

Post your stupid AI moments now!

The 90 degree right hander at the end of the second long straight at New York, in the Enduro, first lap: Every single Artificial Idiot piles face first into the armco, practically flat out. After a while (like about 40 laps) they seem to figure out that they should perhaps brake a bit earlier there. :dunce: If GT 4 had a damage model, it would be the easiest enduro of the lot, as all the competition would wipe itself out in the second corner.

for some reason, I have noticed that on sarthe tracks, on the 1st lap at the turn I think is the 1st, the AI cut througt the sand and spin and wreck.
has anyone else noticed that?

Cool. This I'll be fun. One time, I was on my Toyota GT-one, and what was against me was a Mercedes CLK-GTR race car, a gillet Race Car, a BMW Mc LAren F1, and a Panoz Esperante. During the first lap on the High speed ring, the Mercedes spins out after it just tapped the Gillet, and it sent the Gillet flying too. Both spun out like crazy, then it hit me too. Then all three of us got bashed up by the other cars, and I luckily made it out first, and went for the win.

yes. I have a thread (or HAD, before SOMEONE took it from me...) with a lot of these kind of things in it.

Does anyone remember the stupid Cobra winding up each and every time in the sandpit at the first hard left of Laguna Seca at GT3 ? It blasted away from start each an every time and went straight into the sand. And when it did not do that, it definitely spun around and went out of the lineup at the corkscrew...

Oh yeah. I did Laguna all the time in GT3 and I'd always look at the course map... I'd always see a dot off the course...

:-)

Driving Park, your thread has been merged with an older thread on the same exact topic, so all they did was move your post here, nothing to worry about. :) I suggested that the thread gets merged, because two threads on the same exact topic wouldn't help for searching in the future.

Ohh yeah, and see the Edit button next to the Quote button with your posts? You should use that to change up your posts, but seeing that you was quoting other people, it's a common mistake, all you have to do is copy, and paste the text.

[QU OTE=Driving Park][/QUOTE]
The = sign is there so it will show who exactly posted that. Just don't add a space like I did. It isn't always needed, like in cases when you are quoting the same guy more than once.

Also another way to do so is click quote, copy the text, go back, edit your last post, and then paste. There you go. :) I would've sent a Private Message, but you still have your Private Messenging system deactivated. To activate it, just click "My GTPlanet" then click Options on the left. "My GTPlanet" is located at the top, under where you see the GTPlanet logo.
