If you didn't already know (if you do, sorry :D) about a week and a half ago I switched from X and Square to Triggers; during this time I also changed from AT to MT - with that out of the way I also created a new account to essentially reset. Prior to this, I had Golded everything with the exception of a few Circuit Experiences (which I hadn't gotten round to).

Thought I'd create a thread for my latest GT7 escapades! It's usually the stuff I post around GTP anyway, but wanted a scrapbook of sorts for my postings!

With that out of the way, this morning I squeezed in the 730PP Gr.3 Events at Lago Maggiore and Suzuka (Chilli Pepper events)

I remember this being particularly hard the first time around, especially Lago Maggiore. I had to shorten the ratios on a BRZ GT300 to win the event after a few failures, it must be said. This time round I went with a Stock Gr.3 Corvette on RM with a 17KG ballast to get within PP and won it by around a second.

Snaps from the event:

I have a new appreciation for the 'vette - courtesy of my drive to try and use everything the game has given/gifted me before buying cars (there have been exceptions).

I love the Gr.3 Vette! I find it super stable (at least out of the Gr.3 cars I currently own).

It's a beast - I have no idea why I overlooked it previously. I kind of just assumed it would have typical American Muscle type characteristics - not literally as its still a Gr.3 car lol but I always veered towards other marques.

The Vette is absolutely amongst my favourite Gr.3s along with the BRZ and Genesis, neither of which I currently own.

my drive to try and use everything the game has given/gifted me before buying cars
Considering how long it takes for the Used Lot to update complete a cycle - a few weeks? - I could never pass up buying several cars, and dupes, if I could afford it. In the early game I had to watch many cars pass me by, as the payouts were meager in those early days. Now that I'm a millionaire playboy, that's never happening again. With rare Legendary exceptions. ;)

Loving your scrapbook idea. I hope it's a daily update thing.

Thanks dude. There are some exceptions! I have the KPGC10, as pictured above, afterall - 2 in fact :D

As you've probably deduced, I'm really enthusiastic about GT7 and hammering out the events and time invested so I will certainly post as much as I can and aim to keep it updated and interesting!

Appreciate your post! 🤘🏽

Been progressing through the missions so based off what I had in my garage I fancied trying Human Comedy #5 at Deep Forest. My trusty Gr.4 Supra was called in to action.

I had already had a 2nd placed finish owing mainly to a failed pitstop strategy in which I went for a no-stopper but ended up on worn RHs and having to fuelsave towards the end - Inostroza won the race. I didn't make the same mistake second time round. Went for a very basic one stopper using RHs. Pitted on 30mins (end of lap 18) for Fresh tyres and basically topped up my reserves of around 14 laps for another 5 laps to see out the race. Laps were mainly 1:37s, with a best of 1:36 - a few 1:38s dotted amongst those.

Snaps of course!

Did some drifting today. 🤘🏽

Had already completed the infamous Viper mission in 'Gone with the Wind' but put some more time into it as its satisfyingly challenging.

Couldn't beat my record, but it didn't take me long to register a Gold run :D

Somewhat connected... I wanted to use my KPGC10 for the Alsace Human Comedy but ended up overtuning it so took a slightly different route with it - upped the power even more, fitted the adapted handbrake and steering adjusters and took it drifting instead!

Fresh from the Cafe Menu 39 (Kei Car) victory, I decided to take my Radical prize car to Kyoto for the Human Comedy race.

What a machine is all I can say, virtually perfection out of the box. Bone stock, cruised to a comfortable win and 1.2M credits!

Making moves:

Couldn't help but loosen the purse-strings for this beauty. 1.4M credits... but who's counting?

I saw her for the first time the day I bought GT7, which was frustratingly during the 36 hour outage... when I was limited to Music Rallys! It was during the Tokyo Music Rally - it'd been love at first sight, especially Schwarz with red interior. 🤤

A postcard from Germany.

Btw.... You didn't have to buy the Vette, it's free, I think for a number of missions on gold.. I would have to look for some. I bought the KPGC10 3 times on my main driver..

This car is just great... it just doesn't drive as nice as hoped.... I'm dreaming of a KPGC10 with MotorSwap on RB26DETT or VR38DETT... yes... those are wet dreams. :dopey::cool:

Yes, I didn't buy the Vette - you are absolutely correct, it is a Gold gift from the Missions - I can't remember which set but it included a Corvette Mission on Daytona.

Nice. I have 2 x KPGC10. I overtuned one, so I made it a drift car. The other one is stock with bolt-on options. I can't set it up how I liked. I can get handling or speed, but I can't balance the two perfectly for something like Alsace.

An RB26DETT swap would be insane. 🥵🥵

I keep playing around with my first Skyline when I want to do "essentially NOTHING"... It was my turn again at the weekend and I actually found a few optimizations... it's not quite as good as I would like it to be , but at least I had the violent "Poweroversteer" almost under control. But I also drive it with complete tuning at around 700pp.

But since I really want to try to finally become an A right now, this experimentation is in the background.
I test it on Deep Forest and ride between 1.30.9 to 1.31.7 there when the laps are going well.

Oh yeah, an RB26 in that little one would be... unimaginable.....AWESOME.
Something like that is possible in NFS Heat and it's a lot of fun... but of course it has nothing to do with GT, nor with halfway realistic driving.

At the fifth attempt I managed to Gold Human Comedy #1 at Tsukuba with the Mazda Touring Car!

For anyone still needing to do this, this was my tune - I have one with more power and far superior acceleration times on RH but it doesnt handle as nicely (especially since to me it feels like there is more understeer following 1.16 hmmmm):

20220609_104500.jpg

20220609_104509.jpg

Strategy:

  • Fuel Map 4 (approximately 18 Laps)
  • Pit for fresh RM and Full Tank
  • Attack using fuel map 1 (approximately 14 laps).
  • Pit for Intermediates and switch to fuel map 3 - this should take you to roughly Lap 47-48.
  • At Lap 47-48 You should be just ahead or just behind Kokubun (who will also be looking to pit and switch from Wets to IMs). Switch to RM and fuel map 1 only add fuel to take you to lap 55-56 (maybe a little more) and then attack to finish the race. Kokubun will have 1 more stop to RS - he will apply pressure on IMs and on RS. He reduced my 17 second gap to 4 seconds from lap 47 to 56 even though I was running decent clean laps on RM/map 1.
It's not exact because it depends on the rain but there are definitely two distinct phases of rain a quick light blast (but the AI will pit for IMs) and then no sooner does the circuit dry, a heavy blast (the AI will switch to Wets and then IMs as the track dries, before eventually finishing the race on their preferred Slick tyre). Use their additional stops to build a strategy around minimising your own.

This was my first win at Tsukuba Human Comedy!

Compared with above, I was either really fast, really slow, or the race was harder ha! Definitely felt something changed between me completing them and I'd suggest it is now harder than it was originally (possibly down to cars/PP/fuel consumption changes? as AI still laps similar times) 🤔

So I finished up the last of the conventional missions with Golds which was pleasing as some of them are quite tricky. Happy with the progress made since switching to Triggers but also MT.

20220611_100041.jpg

That saw me move over to the Human Comedy missions which I posted updates for earlier in the thread. I particularly enjoyed Tsukuba in the MX-5 because it's a circuit I know, a car I love and a challenge with changeable conditions; further to that, I believe there have been some revisions to the fuel consumption, gearing or tuning or all three - it's hard to know but the translated into me repeating the challenge 4 times before working out the winning strategy. Sounds frustrating but it wasn't actually; the quest to work out the strategy kept me tinkering and trialling.

All of the missions were pretty cool but the BAC Mono at Trial Mountain (a simple first time win) was a bit of a chore. The car, for something compared to an F3 car by an AI rival, is horrible to drive. Not quite sure how it has 620PP (IIRC) compared to the Radical (544PPP) which is sublime to control. I'm guessing it's the Mono's top speed and power.

That's right.... Lago Maggiore! 😬😬😬

Does mean being reacquainted with an old friend:

Yep the Hyundai Genesis Gr.3 was purchased to take up the cudgels vs Rubilar and Beauvois! Got it all to look forward to again.

Interestingly I had watched this video from UnleashedDrivers:

He assesses all the Gr.3 cars and the Genesis scored very well. Of particular interest to me was the fuel capacity. I had used the Corvette (and it was brilliant as per my opening post) for the Human Comedy at Red Bull Ring but the fuel consumption lets it down and it let me down. The lack of endurance resulted in premature pit stops which affected my tyre selection choices i.e I switched to Wets 2 laps early (when I had to pit for fuel) as heavy rain was due but those 2 laps cost me the advantage the Wets gave me when the rain eventually arrived- the tyres were also a quarter worn when the rain arrived. My last pitstop needed to see me out for 10 laps, but the vette tank only took 8.

Long story short, the Genesis was bought with Maggiore in mind but its frugality saw me take her to the Red Bull Ring for an easy 40 second victory. It's capable of 9-10 laps per stop, which nicely sync with tyre wear and oncoming weather changes:

With it being Le Mans this past weekend I decided to attack the WTC700 at Le Sarthe.

My best finish had been 2nd in 4 previous attempts - I was intent on doing it with a stock car that matched the field i.e a Gr.4 but the drawbacks of that, starting 20 places back, was that the event relied on strategy as pace is difficult to make up against similar cars (particualry on a high speed circuit like Le Sarthe). I don't really regard the addition of a Racing Transmission as abusing the PP system to "secure" the result, more a modifier to set-up the car and tailor it for different circuits; this along with some slight suspension tweaks enabled me to get a bit more out of the car and keep in touch with the leading pack so that when the rain came around I was able to employ some strategy to take the W.

Wouldn't call it a "tune" us such but this is how my trusty GR Supra was tweaked:

Ideally, I wanted to attempt the 600PP Touring Events in the F40, but it has yet to appear in the LCD second time round.

This will have to do in the interim 🤤:

I imagine this won't be the first or last swapped RX-7 any of us will see anytime soon... unless PD does us all dirty ha!

Spent a lot of time really exploring tuning yestersay in my quest for a usable swap having gone extreme with one of my first pre-glitch engines (Chevy-Miata '15) and essentially ruined the build.

Started conservatively by initially familiarising myself with the stock RX before adding the 787B plant - attempted to learn how to drive this with varied success (errr failure lol) - it's wild but not as bad as the Chevy-Miata. Anyway I started dialling back power and really testing every single adjustment option for suspension, differential and aero; as handling improved I increased power... keen to keep true to a tuned street car spec around 600PP which is fitting for the best tuned street car event in the game, Tokyo.

I've settled on this:

20220628_224233.jpg

20220628_224227.jpg

Packaged up like so:

20220627_082951.jpg

Ive found that the nature of these swaps make for lively cars and challenging drives so I'll keep tinkering in search of the optimal blend of power and pliancy but this is a pleasing effort.

If I could change something it would be the option to add Racing/Carbon Brakes, but dialling down the power or compromising the handling to spare PP takes the car in to less competitive territory which is out of the question given its heart.

By no means a tuner but if you happen to use it and have any feedback I'd love to hear it, just to know that I'm on the right path if nothing else - thanks!

Now... what swap to work on next? 🤔

Had been gushing over the NISMO'd Lancia - won Tokyo with it after repeatedly beating my best times at Watkins Glen using this, my own, tune!

20220627_215118.jpg

Capable of 202MPH+ while the acceleration numbers tell their own story. Tyre wear is a problem which is why I've gone with Sport pads and rotors (Carbon seemed to cause quicker deterioration albeit with superior stopping power, comparatively).

I always prioritise handling, so if I'm enjoying it successfully, I'm certain more experienced/skilled drivers could push the limits with it. Not a tuner by any means, but if you use it, feedback would be appreciated!

Had waited nearly 4 months for the F40, logging in daily, anticipating its arrival, and though it may seem that the initial novelty has worn off, as its arrival coincided with Bonanza-gate, it's still fondly in my thoughts...

I'm calling this one 'Tokyo Thrift' its a credit run from the Tokyo 600.

Love the F40 loads - this is my 600PP tune for it; it's perfected, over 1,000 miles, for the way I like to drive. Not as lively but safe, keeps the back in check, evens out the distribution and is generally a joy on its default Sport Hards which was the focus. It's not a power build, the F40 has enough of that stock, the tuning is in the suspension.
