Super Touring (TOCA2/WTC/RACE07/GTR2)

I have played for years and years on the consoles and I thought PCgaming wasn't something for me due to the high-end specs that where needed and all the hassle of installing games. But since my experience with STEAM my opinion has changed a bit. I am still not going to buy a high end gaming pc but I found some older games that run perfectly fine on a simple machine with today's specs. Also the installation process through STEAM is great and it's the first time I really started to enjoy playing games on a pc. So with RACE07 and a few Add-ons loaded I am a very happy person. I play with a DS3 connected to my PC (running the Scarlet drivers) The immersion I get in this game is simply awesome. The whole sound when running through the gears, braking, going of track is something great. I have the feeling to be inside a racecar.

People say that withh a very good racing game, graphics are less important and it's true. I couldn't have made a better investment at the moment!

The Mod is up and running and it's something spectacular. I know the game is quite a few years old (RACE07) but it's racing, physics, sound and options is just mindblowing. If you are looking for a great simulation and you have a few €'oos to spare get RACE07 through STEAM.

Looks sweet mate I also similar have a crap pc not really intrested in gaming on it unless it's sims. Race 07 runs flat out on a 60fps on even my old 2002 pc ..price of a pasty and a coke it's well worth it. could add me on steam same name be good to have a online race normally just hot lap the ring

Anyway back to TOCA, I used to loved that game and the 2nd one, I learned the british tracks with those game. I used to play it with friends and have awesome time in the rain.

I'm missing my touring cars game since it's my favorite kind of race. I wish we could have a btcc series in game. Maybe in RRRE since WTCC 2014 is coming now.

For TOCA2 I use a DS3 controller.

I don´t know if TOCA2 can still be found for PC but the mods offered by the communities for SIMBIN's Race07 & GTR2 come very close. I thought RFactor had a mod as well but I am not sure.

Have tested the GTR2 version next to the RACE07 version and there are a few differences.

AI seems better and stronger in GTR2
Replay system is more fluent in GTR2
Sounds are better in RACE07
Graphics are slightly better in RACE07
Controls are a bit more refined in RACE07 (lowering sensitivity in GTR2 solves the issue for a big part when you play with a controller.
GTR2 offers more Touring Cars and Championships

Both versions seem to have their advantages and both are a great addition for Super Touring lovers.

My laptop can run Race07 well enough. I should buy a decent controller instead of using a cheap PS one style. Will a DS3 work with the USB lead?

It works without 0 issues

, but it was a bit of a struggle to get it going and to find something a lot better than BetterDS3 or MotionJoy.

I have downloaded the Scarlet Drivers which work absolutely fantastic.
When the drivers are installed your DS3 controller shows up as a XBOX360 controller.
Then download the official XBOX360 controller drivers from Microsoft and everything will run very smooth 👍

Yes, get MotionJoy and just map everything in the controls settings. My controls are similar to GT's with a few differences.

Just tried the Super Touring mod for GTR2 and it is amazing! Had a quick 20 minute race in the Renault Laguna BTCC 1997 against 23 AI and I got so many ToCa flashbacks! Started in 8th and over 20 minutes climbed up to 5th against 95% AI at Donington Park GP. Video will be uploaded later today...

Is this from the Super Tourer mod? I haven't had any issues with it at all. Apart from it sometimes crashing when quitting a race. What site did you download the mod from?

Yes I have seen the new STCC mod. Looks good as well. Just have a weakness for those tourers.

Yes, get MotionJoy and just map everything in the controls settings. My controls are similar to GT's with a few differences.

Do not get motion joy under any circumstances. it's bugged and has wares built in very bad advice Jason ... That thing has caused so many people to reinstall windows as it messes the drivers up
