i wanted to start riding a while back. i had thought of a suzuki gs500 or an sv600 as a first bike. the sv600 was a bit more trickey to start on I heard, but it was so tempting. its such a sweet bike. exactly what i am looking for. but like always, some people said it would be no problem.

havent taken an msf course yet. dont know if i will ever start, maybe later, to busy now.

All sports bikes look the same to me

But my cousin has one and he says it's a joy to ride. I've been on the back of his, and I have to say it is. I really don't know much about them, but I was thinking of getting one. It's a lot cheaper than a car and a lot funner to ride. Especially when your weaving in and out of traffic and making people jelious when you just go right in between the lanes in bumper to bumper traffic. ;)

your cousin sounds like one of those really really really stupid people. cocky young guy buys a superbike, drives it like an asshole, and dies young. you should look on the net to see if you can find some photos of bike accident victims. show them to him.

Yep, definitely sounds like those 5, or 6, people I read about everyday on sportbikes.net who die from being a little too overconfident/cocky, and not riding safely.

If you don't respect a bike, it's going to bite you in the ass.

SaleenASL- Do you have any riding experience? Even dirtbike would help. If you have none I would suggest a smaller, older, used bike like a 250r. Ride it until you feel comfortable on it, get used to the clutch/gas, learn proper throttle control, and definitely learn some emergency braking techniques. After you feel like you're ready to move up to a bigger bike sell the old one. The good thing about buying a small used bike is you won't worry about dropping a $1500 bike as much as you would worry dropping a $8,000 bike, plus you can resell it for probably the exact amount you paid for it unless you drop it, or mess it up.

If you don't have a lot of experience, but know how to control a bike, you might look towards a GS500, CBR600F2, CBR600F3, or an SV650. These bikes are a little more forgiving than most new sportbikes, but they still have enough power to loop over, and plant you flat on your ass if you're not careful. I don't know about the 500, but the other three bikes have like 70-80hp which is, considered by a lot, too much for an inexperienced rider. You just really have to be mature about it, and know exactly what you're getting yourself into, before hopping on a streetbike.

Wow. YOu guys sure can comprehend a lot from two short sentences that don't give a lot of information.

He's 27 and I think he can take care of himself. He's probably the best driver I know.

If he does the things you said in that sentence then that's all we need to know about him to know what type of rider he is.

Weaving in and out of traffic is a good way to get yourself killed. Lane splitting/sharing in bumper to bumper traffic is another good way to get yourself killed. You'd be surprised at how many assholes out there will try to cut you off when they see you doing that, or do crap like swing their doors open. If he rides 2 up(aka riding with a passenger) like that then I don't even now what to say... other than I hope nothing happens so he doesn't kill an innocent passenger.

The R7 was a nice bike. It was only made in '99, I believe. I wouldn't say it's better than an R1, though. It's more rare, yes, and more expensive - like $30,000+ now - , but the R1 should be a lot faster. The R7 has 749cc's whereas the R1 has 998cc's.

The GSXR-1000 is an awesome bike. The silver/black '03 is a beauty. I'd take a Gixxer 1k over a Hayabusa anyday.

isnt hyabusa the fastest street legal bike?
well id rather take a gixer 1000 also cuz i dont like the way the hyabusa looks

Yes, in stock form the Hayabusa(GSX-1300R) is the fastest production bike. It weighs too much, though. It's a pig at just over 560 pounds.:scared:

It is a very comfortable bike, and has a ton of roll on power. Very good torque.👍 Some incurance companies will even insure it as a sport tourer since it's a GSX, and not a GSXR.

I don't think so. I think it's like .02 seconds slower in the 1/4 mile, so it's damn close.

Ever heard of the Norton Nemesis? 1497cc V8 - 235hp, and 11ft/lb tq. 480lb. Should be able to exceed 200mph.:odd:

I don't know. That bike is an '00 model so it can't be too long gone. I know they were having financial problems, but that's all I remember. They're probably not around anymore, but I don't really keep myself up to date with crap like that.

For real beginners, I mean no experience before, I recommend a moped.

This has 6 speeds(just like a bike bike of course), 17ps, front rear disc brakes. Its 2 stroke and quite fast.

For those who thinks moped are for sissies, what about a 'naked bike'
135cc 2 stoke, front disc brakes, 5 speeds, bike like riding position.

BTW, I'm not at the legal age to drive yet so I ride a moped(scooter?)Its fun during traffic jams.

I know in the USA the Kawasaki ZX2-R is a twin cylinder bike. In my country, we have a ZZR250 which uses the similar engine.

But the ZX2-R we get here(same as Australia.........) is hell of a bike IMHO. Revs to heaven literally and makes such a good noise that I'm fooled into thinking it was some big bike.

Some of you may now, I went to Kelowna today. I saw a Dodge Viper blue with white stripes(GTS)

A Modded R6. Honda RC-51(VTR-1000SP) With Hindles. The guy did a mile long wheelie.
