The Suzuki Grand Vitara is a 3-5 door SUV sold by Suzuki since 1988 and is now in it's 4th generatio, that was also sold as the Vitara in the US, Western Europe and some parts of Asia and as the Escudo in Japan. The first generation was launched in Japan in 1988 and was the successor to the Suzuki Samurai with construction based off the Lada Niva. A variety of engines were offered across different trim levels ranging from a 60HP 1.0 Inline 4 to a 140HP 2.0 V6. Production for the first gen ended in 2006, just as the 3rd gen went on sale.

From my perspective, the model above still stands as the most charming generation of them all. I would prefer the 3-door model though, for its off-road competence and compact appearance.

Speaking of the off-road duties, I wouldn't mind driving the Vitara if Polyphony included off-road sections and stages to navigate around. For that reason I would love to see a diesel-powered model as that is the best solution outside tarmac sections. On usual racing/rally circuits regular Vitara could be a bit tedious.

The same overlook affects the W463 G400 CDI suggestion as well.

I think this car would be a lot of fun drive around the old Cathedral Rocks Trails if they were ever reintroduced into GT. as well.
