UPDATE: Problem Solved

Thanks to redi for the advice about the TH8A shifter.

Unplug the TH8A shifter from the hub and start the game normally. Once the game is loaded and the wheel is recognised plug the shifter back into the hub and it now works fine too

Now what i cannot understand is ***WHY*** when I plugged the wheel directly into the PS4 without the shifter connected it still did not work. This is the very odd thing.

So basically update 1.03 is the problem and it somehow interferes with how the wheel is recognised BUT the important thing now is there is a work around until SMS patches this.

OK here we go again :-( After saying I would wait for the reviews of this game I renegged and bought it on release. I am kickiing myself now.

To the problem


PS4 Standard 500Gb version. Game, limited edition disc version with Japanese car pack loaded and with day one 1.03 update installed (all 94Mb+ of it)

First up the game would only launch with the PS4 controller and I could then select and supposed calibrate my t300 wheel. Then going to track there was no force feedback at all, no self centering and I could not edit and save the HUD.

So I quit the game and for the next 2 hours I have tried everything (except a full delete) to try and get my t300 to be recognised as I can't even get as far as I did the first time.

The PS4 recognises the wheel and the only functions available in the game is the PS and share buttons, everything else is disabled. The game will launch with the wheel's X button and there it ends. I have tried disabling the controller at various stages of boot up but all has failed. I have even deleted all the saved data and tried another re-boot all with no success.

Any ideas?

The next is to delete 1.03 patch and then try that. It is a big day one patch and I don't really want to do that.

Also I did think it could be my USB hub causing the issue but I now have the wheel connected straight to the PS4.

So I just loaded up Assetto Corsa and chucked a few laps around imola just to remind myself I do have half a clue and my gear is not faulty.

So it is really looking like PCARS2 is picking up from PCARS1 and is continuing to be a buggy POS >:-(

i deleted the update 1.03 and the wheel is now recognised even through my USB hub.

So I now have a game I cant go online with or if I do, I have to use a controller. What a POS!!!

Further to this *IF* you think this is a solution then it's not. You are restricted to 1 car (McLaren P1) and 1 track (Longbeach) so I can't even play the game and wait for the patched patch >:-(

My T150 does not get recognized by PCars2 when I start the game with both the T150 and the controller connected. I have to disconnect the controller, start the game with only the T150 connected, and then connect the controller after the game has started, if I need it for some menu settings.

I have the same setup as you and it's all working fine. Some of my friends are having some issues with Fanatec wheels

Mine was working (without FF) until I started to experiment with FF settings and then it stopped.

So have you tried different FF settings? If not would you please try and see what happens?

I am also using the T300 on standard ps4 and everything seems fine? I start the console and the game by only using the wheel.

I have only had 2 sessions with the game. In both cases the first time I started the game the T300 had no feedback and was not selectable under the controller configuration screen. Each time I have found closing the game, logging out of my PS user, and then coming back in and restarting the game fixes it.

I can't explain why that would be but there you go.

I have wondered if my wheel needs a firmware update as I have never done that before (and I have had my wheel for about 18 months). I have a healthy distrust of firmware updates after a bad experience with a printer scanner. If it ain't broke don't fix it is my motto.

So I'll wait and see what develops in the next few weeks before doing anything.

My T300 went a bit crazy when I was trying out the various FFB presets, like it started vibrating uncontrollably when driving. Didnt really feel like clipping though. Thankfully only did it briefly and has been fine when doing the same thing from then on.

However every time I load up a private testing session the wheel rotates to one side and stays there, meaning I can't drive. All other modes are fine.

insult away as it would not be the first time I have accomplished very stupid things all by myself ;-) But then it would not explain why when I load up Assetto Corsa everything works fine. Also, it does not explain why, when I delete patch 1.03 it all works again.

So great idea but in this case I do feel I am not the problem ;-)

BTW I also tried swapping to PS3 mode at various stages to see if I could trick it into working.

Also, I have 2 friends both with T300s downloading the patch as I type this so we will know very shortly (maybe not as one is on ADSL 1) if it is a common problem or not.

Yes, the FFB was initially awful and I tried various combinations in all the three different flavours. Informative gave the best FFB when everything else was at default. Then my friend with the Fanatec wheel suggested:
Flavour - RAW
Gain - 75
Volume - 50
Tone - 66
FX - 25
MLS - 0.20

These settings create quite a drivable setup but I think it still needs further tweaking.

Oh, I forgot that, yes Japanese Car Pack installed. Also using G27 pedals with my T300RS, but that shouldn't make any difference.

Well this is a turn up and something strange. My version number is v01.00.0842. We are playing two different version. So please confirm you have an Australian, Limited Edition PCARS2 disc and update 1.03 installed with the Japanese car pack? Is there anything else you gave added apart from this? I can't understand why we have two different version numbers?

I'm on PS4. The vibrating hasn't happened since, so I'm not concerned really. I just assumed the wheel went a little crazy as I was changing the FFB modes quite quickly and often. However I still can't do a private testing session at all.

Yes, why not? I played Assetto Corsa, PC1 and the Gt Sport beta with my PS4/T300 and had never installed a controller.

Both, its like a tombola. I did work, push the X start your engine button. Nothing happens, Reset, unplug, did it all. Than the wheel works but got no FFB. Exit game, start up again, start your engine not working, ......

Hi fellow sufferers, I have the same Problem.

Using a PS4, 500 GByte, T300 GT 28 Leather wheel, Th8a Shifter, T3PA Pro Pedals with a digital deluxe editing. Tryed the game today morning 00:00 EU Time. Played couple minutes before PC1, no response of my wheel in PC2. Using an USB Hub. Tryed several times with restarting the wheel and so one... No chance.

Next what I will do is update my Firmware of the T300. Last one was in 2015 I belive.

That's a nice start for a game, just like PC1 years ago...

Did a fresh install, switch to GTE wheel, nothing, back to the 599 wheel, nothing. Then switched the usbplugs wheel in 2, Th8a in 1. Bingo, entering the game, NO FFB, out again, can't get in anymore. Wheel is not in the list, The latest update is from 2015. there is no new one. It worked for 30 min yesterday at midnight....... I think the first thing that always should work in a racing game is the WHEEL...Good kick off PC

Same here. Ts300 not recognized. Tried all the usual things. Have not tried removing the patch cause I did not download 12GB for nothing.

This game is broken from launch clearly I regret wasting time and money on this pos
