Hey Guys

Since my beloved wife passed away things havnt really worked out here in the states, so i may have to take myself off back to the UK. What leads and whatnots can i purchase in advance that will enable me to take my NTSC PS2and play it in the UK?. I am aware of the whole PAL/NTSC issue, but what im not aware of is what cables id need for it to work over there. Any info would be most appreciated, as im damned if im giving up my GT games. Well those and all the others ive collected since i been living here in the states.

Thanks in advance

If it's a slimline PS2, the power adaptor allows for correct output regardless of input. All you'd need is a US-to-UK plug adaptor (about 60p).

If not you'll need some form of 230V-to-110V step down transformer. I've never looked into this, but I'm sure they're available.

As for the video signal... you'd just need a TV capable of displaying an NTSC input. Most new TVs have this ability.

Thanks Famine

Yes it is a slimline version. I Guess thats a bit of luck for me. I have heard about the stepdown transformer, but not about the slimline adapter giving the correct output regardless. As for the video signal, even if i find a tv that does display NTSC, is the whole 50-60hz thing gonna be an issue?.

I believe NTSC is 60hz only and look on your power adapter, where it says input if it says 110-230v or something similar you are good to go, if it says 110v only then you need a transformer.

Thanks for the input Devedander. Just checked the power adapter and it says 100-240v so thats a good thing.

So all id need going by all this is a power pin adaper thingy which allows me to use the 2 pin plug in the 3 pin plug socket, as well as the correct tv with the component or rgb Inputs?.

Yep - slimline PS2's transformers are more-or-less universal, so you just need the right shaped plug. 60p from Tesco.

All TVs made after about 1938 have the composite input. If you have a component input (YPbPCr) then something more recent or expensive will do you.

Having been over here in the states since Feb 04, i guess i must of adjusted a little. Just like my waistline as well.....lol.
