I just arrived by midnight, and I was greeted by Rob's visit, and I am delighted that he'll stay with us for his trip. He has to spend his vacation wisely, though... as MI6 agents can be called anytime.

This morning, we'll do the usual Sunday routine, go to church by 10 and eat in a mall afterwards. Rob tags along as well. Oh, before that, I finally returned that horrendous pink Lamborghini Murcielago back to its owner. I truly appreciate its performance, but its looks just turned me off. I mean, souping it up to look like a Reventon is okay, but matte pink? I am not against the color, but it's just... odd.

Shoot, Mom is already waiting for us outside. Time to go! My wife is pushing the baby stroller, with Shin still sleeping...

Tomoko: "Oh, here you are again. Do you always go here in Japan for a vacation?"

Rob: "I just love it here. And most of my close friends are here too, so I just have to hang out when I can."

Takuma: "Mom, Rob used to be a permanent resident here. But now that he has a lot of work abroad and his family has finally been sorted out, he has to go back to London and live there permanently."

Tomoko: "I see. Well, time for our usual Sunday leisurely walk."

Every Sunday, whenever we walk to the church, I usually stick close to Mom and sometimes even role-play as husband and wife. Hehe. I never felt so happy before, now that I am finally reunited with my mother.

Little Ben: "Hey, I wonder where we'll eat after church?"

Takuma: "I picked last time. How about you, Mom?"

Tomoko: "How about our guest here?"

Rob: "Hmmmmm.... I kinda forgot where I used to eat here. There's this Izakaya where I usually eat or take out food."

Kokoro: "Well, we're bound to end up somewhere. I'm sure we can find something new and interesting."

However, I heard something really loud coming from behind. It's a V8 grumble... with popping sounds. Satisfying the need for speed, just because traffic is clear?

15695118280_9787d7e04d_c.jpg

It stopped by an intersection where we cross going to the church.

15695105110_98d38f7072_c.jpg

Little Ben: "Wow, look at that!"

Looks very futuristic. And are those eight exhaust pipes? That looks odd for a Mercedes, since most of their cars appear subtle. Only thing I know is that it is a Mercedes thanks to the three-pointed star badge.

And Nigel isn't around to scan it. Shoot...

Kokoro: "Looks like from a sci-fi film."

And then we cross. It's my turn to do the staring.

15881763222_f26ff37b5f_c.jpg

Rob:
"All right, we get it. It's a Mercedes. That grille looks like a whale's mouth."

Then I looked back for one last look. It just leaves an impression, you know? Kinda looks like a stretched version of the new Mercedes AMG GT Coupe.

15262763023_01250b9ab8_c.jpg

What an odd-looking car, I must say. Surely it's a one-off, for the most loyal customer.

At least we started Sunday with an interesting encounter. Out of all the supercars I see prowling around in the streets of Tokyo, that one is the most bizarre, more bizarre than those neon-lit, candy-colored Lamborghinis and Ferraris.

It's time for the FT-1 to measure its mettle against the latest cars in a weekly open track day.

15260141914_063642756c_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "Suzuka is closed, but Tsukuba here can be a good place to test the handling performance."

15694898858_2cdcf4f3df_c.jpg

Overtaking a Huayra just means the difference between a casual driver from a race car driver. Nobuhiko has to outrun it quickly, and hope that the M3 would provide as a distraction.

15856600116_d7d49668aa_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "Oyaji named this car as the Future Toyota 1. And he told me that it very much mirrors me, and my life... It just came as a surprise, and it turned he worked on that car after I came back to life."

Braking late, he overtakes the more powerful cars upon entering the second hairpin. Tsukuba Circuit does not really emphasize power, and to get the best lap time is how you brake and exit the corners.

15696647247_3ba3e2283c_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "I don't get it, how does it "mirror" me? But what I can tell, is that this car and I are in sync!

Takuma-san, just let me know when you're ready. Oyaji told me everything that happened thirty years ago.

With that, there's no reason for me to lose! I will be the one who will triumph in this long-standing rivalry!"

This large skyscraper has all the lights dimmed.... except for one window... and it isn't too bright either.

Two men are the only people in the room, the other is looking at the Tokyo skyline by the window, concealed by the large chair.

The man who entered, wears a corporate attire. What is an employee doing in an office on a Sunday?

Mystery Employee: "Mr. K, I have encountered two of the Dream Alliance members. They seem to be traveling towards the church, with some family members."

Then the chair turns back, and the other man in question is...

Kazunori Yamauchi: "Very well. It's just Sunday, after all. Everyone is having their leisure time."

Mystery Employee: "It's kinda boring, you know? I just wasted my gas blasting that Mercedes on the straight."

Kazunori Yamauchi: "There is a right time for everything. When that time comes...

...everything will change."

...much like in real life, wherein not all VGTs are out yet. :grumpy:

Page 3 - Invitations

Location: A mountain pass in Kanagawa, Japan
Time: 12 pm, the next day

Monday - it may be the start of the work week for many, but as for one Yuki Kanonji, it isn't. He takes the day off in the first day of the week, something that only a few would dare.

But in actuality, he had been working in some of Honda's prototypes for all week, so it's just reasonable for him to take a day off, of course approved by his higher-ups.

And so, he hikes up the hills of Kanagawa to have a leisurely drive...

15278705833_5f7392ba6b_c.jpg

However, he encounters some rally cars, and that leaves Yuki bewildered...

15896349191_2c417eea3d_c.jpg

As it turns out, it's a practice session for the participants of Rally Japan. Yuki may not be aware of it, but decides to play, by shifting down to 1st gear and hit the throttle.

Yuki: "Maybe some company might cheer me up a bit more. But one thing is for sure, heh...

....you're my prey."

(Background Music starts here)

His sudden appearance surprises the rally drivers. What's more surprising, is that a family hatchback, out of all cars, is crashing their party.

15278705173_c770bd8107_c.jpg

Yuki: "Evo? Pfft... Yeah, you Evo and Impreza owners think that 4WD is the best on tarmac."

And overtakes another Evo...

15897693502_de570ea87f_c.jpg

Yuki: "You've got torque? This Fit doesn't, I know... but does it really matter on the downhill? This little Fit only has 216 horsepower and 23 kilos of torque for goodness sake."

15898345765_fd30368115_c.jpg

Yuki: "I really gotta commend Spoon Sports for tuning this little Fit. I love the engine..."

The Lancia Delta S4 driver literally dropped his jaw upon seeing the Fit RS' incredible cornering speed.

15712578867_2ce0832a0f_c.jpg

And disappeared in a flash.

15711037520_4705873cca_c.jpg

Yuki: "You call yourselves rally car drivers? Pathetic."

(Music ends here)

Yuki stops by at a convenience store, as hunger hits him. He purchases a microwavable bento meal for take out.

He decides to turn back and go home instead. He'll reheat the food later.

15278705833_5f7392ba6b_c.jpg

While driving along, he receives a call.... from none other than his Senpai, Nobuhiko.

Yuki: "Senpai! You called. Is there something important?"

Nobuhiko: "Are you busy?"

Yuki: "It's my day off today, Senpai."

Nobuhiko: "Day off? On a Monday? That's quite odd."

Yuki: "I spent the entire Saturday and Sunday working on prototypes, you know?"

Nobuhiko: "I see. That's rough."

Yuki: "Why have you called?"

Nobuhiko: "Can you clear your schedule on Saturday, if you don't mind?"

Yuki: "What is it about, Senpai?"

Nobuhiko: "It's a decisive battle, that has been left unsettled for 30 years. I will make sure, that I will be the winner.

Suzuka Circuit, on Saturday... 12 pm. Kanonji vs. Hiramoto."

Yuki: "You mean, you're going to have a duel with Takuma?"

Nobuhiko: "That's right. I cannot let the world wait for longer."

***************************************************************

Location: Takuma's home, Aoyama, Tokyo
Time: 8 pm

Rob just returned from the Mochi shop across the street, and has purchased a box of six with varying flavors. He sees Takuma's family, save for Takuma, in the dining area, waiting for the patriarch to arrive as Kokoro is busy cooking.

He observes them, as if having a family suddenly piqued his interest, after what Kokoro had told him. The woman then approaches him.

Kokoro: "Hey, please join us in the dining area. Your friend will arrive shortly."

Rob: "I see."

Rob sits on the floor, as the setup is of the traditional Japanese dining style. He sees the meals prepared in an extravagant manner, especially on the alignment of sushi rolls on the big platter. In front of him is a covered bowl of rice and a pair of chopsticks on the side.

Rob: "Hey, what's up, Little Ben?"

Little Ben: "I'm really happy today. Daddy just signed me up in a karting tournament once again."

Rob:
"That's a great start there, kid. I hope you prevail."

Kokoro: "How about you, Rob? How's your family back in London?"

Rob: "We're doing fine as well. Such a lovely arrangement tonight."

Kokoro: "My husband, oddly enough, prefers traditional Japanese dining, even right down to the etiquette, despite the fact he grew up abroad."

Rob: "I could learn a thing or two from this."

Kokoro: "But the most important thing is, that he keeps this family together, thanks to his hard work. You know, having a family is one big achievement for your part."

Rob: "How I'd wish I can say that to my friends too. Unfortunately, wounds are just starting to heal."

Little Ben: "Wounds?"

Rob: "You'll understand this when you've grown."

Takuma has finally arrived. He takes off his shoes before entering the living area, and he heads straight to the dining room.

Takuma: "Sorry, everyone. Traffic is bad and I had lot of work to finish."

Rob: "First time I've seen you arriving late. Nice achievement."

Takuma: "First time I've seen your head so shiny. I could really use it for fortune-telling."

Rob: "You've got a bone to pick? I'm afraid this dining table hasn't."

Takuma: "Whatever. Enough bickering around. I have an important announcement."

Kokoro: "Announcement?"

Takuma: "This Saturday, we shall all head to Suzuka."

Rob: "Suzuka Circuit? What for?"

Takuma: "A duel. I shall face off against Nobuhiko, and finally settle the rivalry that lingers for over 30 years. It's time for the victor to be decided."

Rob: "What a surprise. I thought you two are getting along well."

Takuma: "We are getting along well. But that rivalry.... suddenly awakened during the FIA GT3 Championship. He had outdone me not just once, but twice. Even before the championship, Nobuhiko and I already planned it."

Rob: "I guess rivalries within teams are getting more common. It's a great way to boost yourselves up.

This will be a worthy show. Heh..."

Location: Route 5, Tokyo
Time: 10 pm

A loud, grumbling V8 bellow roars through the empty Route 5 road. Surprisingly, rush hour traffic has cleared easily.

This provides the chance for this souped-up white Ford GT to tear up.

15278703503_cfcd2ee010_c.jpg

It turns out, that Kazunori Yamauchi is driving it. His passion for cars and his games have made him possible to acquire such stunning supercar.

It hits 320 km/h on the end of the straight, then he slams on the brake pedal.

15712577907_566e4fc886_c.jpg

Rumors of the duel in Suzuka spread like wildfire in the racing circles. Of course, Kazunori has heard of it, and it further strengthened his interest on the Dream Alliance, after being defeated by them in the Nurburgring 24 Hours.

15712577707_e31bae2f2b_c.jpg

Kaz: "Rumor has it that a duel will commence in Suzuka Circuit this Saturday. A duel between the fastest men in the world of racing.

I am curious how these men managed to overcome all the hurdles set by the increasingly stringent FIA Organization."

It seems that my project will not have a smooth sailing. But that does not matter. I like being challenged."

Kazunori carries along with his run, along with his curiosity. It seemed that he'll definitely watch the showdown.

End of Page 3

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

- Yuki's Fit RS only has 445 PP.

- Kaz's Ford GT has 793 horsepower and 639 PP. With Sports Soft tires, it managed to beat the lap time set by Takanori's C7 Corvette in Route 5. How faster? By 1 SECOND!"

- Expect this story to be really short, arguably the shortest one I'll ever make. Because this only focuses on the Kanonji-Hiramoto rivalry, anyway. The first part of the battle will already be on the fifth page.

Page 4 - The Heat

Location: Tomei Expressway
Time: 3 am, Saturday

The week has passed by quickly, and the fated day of the duel has arrived. It's been thirty long years...

...would there finally be a victor? Or history would repeat itself?

That answer would come to light later on...

But for now, at dawn...

Kazunori Yamauchi has departed early, to watch the race in Suzuka, and probably catch a glimpse of either Takuma or Nobuhiko making practice runs.

15725792680_9248390d05_c.jpg

Since it is the early morning, traffic is absent, providing Kazunori the opportunity to tear up his Ford GT tuned for the circuit.

15725792490_f80d4a6057_c.jpg

It touches 330 km/h in an instant, despite the large rear wing. This is when torque comes to play.

15725619108_47cd8dcca3_c.jpg

The American supercar managed to clock in speeds in excess of 400 km/h. For him, it's not a surprise at all, given the fact that he did experience speed in real life, so he must be aware of the differences between virtual and reality.

Kaz: "400 km/h. Mankind has achieved that, but only a few managed to do so. My project aims for everyone to reach that kind of dimension."

15725792020_89c7160073_c.jpg

Kaz: "I have changed many lives by bridging the gap between the virtual world and the reality. Now, it's time to take it to the next step. My Vision Gran Turismo project shall realize that."

***************************************************************

Location: Suzuka Circuit, Mie Prefecture
Time: 8 am

Kazunori arrives at the track earlier than the usual, since he did speed on his way here.

15887296106_95b712e922_c.jpg

Upon heading up to the bleachers, he hears a loud sound. The note is unique, with an odd mix of high pitch and grumble.

Kaz: "Rotary? Hmph, it must be Takuma Kanonji, then. That man paved the way for the future of Rotary sports."

And he is right, it is indeed Takuma doing the final practice run. After all, one has to be in tip-top shape.

15911124891_063dd82452_c.jpg

Kaz: "Interesting, he bought a concept car and restored it for everyone in the world to see."

15727337327_18a405ea8d_c.jpg

Takuma arrived in the prefecture last night for the purpose. The rest are on their way as well.

15290834134_7e72c63488_c.jpg

Kaz: "He, just as everybody else in the Dream Alliance, intrigues me to no end. Though of course, he is an opponent, and a tough one at that."

***************************************************************

At 11 in the morning, everyone has arrived - Takuma's family, Rob, and the Hiramotos. The audience has risen significantly in numbers as well, proving that their showdown will be a sensation. Two of Japan's fastest drivers will battle for supremacy - the same as what their fathers did thirty years ago.

Nobuhiko makes his final car set up. His father then approaches him...

15725617628_2d072f58da_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "This actually came as a surprise. No wonder you asked me how I battled against Takuma's father.

Listen to me, expect yourself to be drained out."

Nobuhiko: "I know very well that you would say that."

Hiroyuki: "It was a huge mistake for me to overlook on his skills back then. If I paid closer attention to him, then the outcome of that battle would have been different.

Pour everything you got. And if possible, show no mercy. The Kanonji Twins carry on Michiharu's undying willpower. It's their greatest weapon."

Meanwhile, in the next pit garage where Takuma sets up his RX-500, Takanori excuses himself and gets a hotdog sandwich for himself. Suddenly, he bumps into Kazunori, who is returning to the bleachers from the bathroom.

Takanori: "Yamauchi-san! It's nice to see you again!"

Kaz: "How you've been? You've gotten a bit larger. Working out lately?"

Takanori: "Well, yes! Despite the busy car reviewing work I'm doing."

Kaz: "You may have defeated me back then, but now I have taken interest on to your twin as well. I have looked up on his experiences, and they are all fascinating."

Takanori: "Actually, my twin has turned into a monster. Pretty soon, he'll be able to defeat Nobuhiko-san once and for all!"

Kaz: "Your high spirits always bring out the best in your team, I suppose. Keep that up. We'll meet again someday."

Kaz pats his hand on Takanori's shoulder and then part away. He briefly looks at the pit garage where the Hiramotos stay, and observes Hiroyuki. He leaves after a small glance, and while returning to the bleachers, he has a thought once again.

Kaz:
"Hiroyuki Hiramoto... a man with a vision... much like me. However...

...he is an antithesis to my project. He is the one person that I would never allow myself to lose against."

***************************************************************

Half an hour later, everything is all set. The racers have lined themselves up at the starting line, with Nobuhiko taking the pole position.

The audience could not afford to take their eyes, not even in the slightest moment. The others even post this moment in social media. It could arguably be one of Japan's greatest races.

15912446562_e245a67e0b_c.jpg

The cars roar in all their might.

Takuma: "Oyaji.... are you watching me? I'll win this for you! I will be the one to settle this once and for all! Watch everything that will take place within the three laps. I'll assure you, it's a show you'll never forget!"

In the FT-1...

Nobuhiko: "I'll take your advice into my heart, Oyaji. Takuma-san has already intimidated me from the very beginning.

But that's not an excuse for losing!"

Meanwhile, at the pit lane...

Tomoko: "How many years has it been? Thirty years? History really does repeat itself. But now, our children resumes this epic rivalry."

Kokoro: "That battle thirty years ago was epic, wasn't it?"

Tomoko: "Oh yes, it is. Even today, it's still remembered by many. But I think those two will make it a point that a winner will be decided."

Then as for Rob...

Rob: "Honestly, I don't know who to root for. Naturally, it would be Takuma, since he's my best friend. But...

...Nobuhiko is also someone that I would want to defeat someday. I can't imagine him losing, either.

But no matter, as I have already put up a challenge for both of them. I provoked them. I'll just bide my time, then, until all three of us will engage in a showdown far more epic than this."

Then without further adieu, the countdown has started.

3... 2... 1... GO!!!

15727068029_108aea4d06_c.jpg

Along with the pole position start, Nobuhiko still has the advantage, as he knows the track far more than Takuma, and the FT-1's sheer power makes it rocket away from the seemingly underpowered RX500.

Takuma: "Heh... that FT-1. It's just as monstrous as its driver.

But no matter, I always love being tortured.

There will be winner at the end... and I'll make sure I am that person!"

End of Page 4

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

Want to revisit the battle thirty years ago? Then go here!

For my version, the FT-1 is powered by the 2JZ-GTE found in Hiroyuki's Supra. It was mentioned already, but it would only be a temporary unit.

And now...

Week 3 of "The Next Fanfic Car" is now live!

Take a guess on the new batch of cars for this week! The correct answer for Week 2 is found in my status in the Community section, so please do check my profile page, and as well as the cars in the Favorite Cars section.

For my version, the FT-1 is powered by the 2JZ-GTE found in Hiroyuki's Supra. It was mentioned already, but it would only be a temporary unit.
That so? I must've missed that bit of info. If you're planning on changing that unit, maybe it could be a similiar unit, but more powerful and modern. Or a V8 like a Lexus, who knows... 💡

Page 5 - Similarities

While it could be lunch time for many, the others are watching, perhaps the world. Thirty years ago, the same scenario happened, and now, it returned...

...but I will make sure that I am at the top! This will never be easy, though. I know how tough you are, Nobuhiko, and I am hit hard by it.

For that... I WILL SHOW NO MERCY!

15927395651_fd5edf6ce4_c.jpg

I really have to admit, that the 2JZ-GTE twin turbo engine can make the mountains move. No wonder Supras can go head-to-head with supercars in its day. It's a rough and tough power unit!

15309704753_27640c410e_c.jpg

But the FT-1's cornering is not bad, either. I may be in a lose-lose situation!

(Background Music starts here)

15927395141_c1e5fea336_c.jpg

Look at how it rockets away from me! It's rapid!

Meanwhile, at the pit lane, Hiroyuki is calm and collected despite the tension. For him, he had already felt it, thirty years ago...

Hiroyuki: "Quite a surprise, Michiharu. Our children decided to finish the battle that was left unsettled.

I have to admit, you were the only person who could actually make me tremble on my feet. You're just too strong, as a matter of fact.

But... I'm afraid Nobuhiko will prevail on this. I have a lot of faith in him. For sure, you'll root for your child, Michiharu."

Then, Nobuyuki approaches him, wondering on his little brother's FT-1.

Nobuyuki: "Oyaji, how did you come up with that stunning car? The FT-1? It looks like a Storm Trooper's ride!"

Hiroyuki: "The moment Nobuhiko returned to us, I started to conceptualize on it. When Toyota's executives heard of it, they agreed and guaranteed me full backing on the car, as long as it would be an effective marketing tool since enthusiasts are wondering when will the new Supra come out.

So I let those executives do the marketing and concept, while I do the hard work, which is creating the car from scratch."

15927394771_f7030bc50f_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "The FT-1 sits on a bespoke rear-wheel drive chassis. The engine is to be placed behind the front wheels and the transmission at the back. That formula is now becoming a mainstream method. You may ask what's a heavy 2JZ-GTE doing under the bonnet. The truth is, it's a perfect unit to achieve that 50:50 weight distribution. I only swapped some of the engine parts for lighter ones, and it's actually the one in my Supra, albeit detuned to approve for road legislation. It makes over 500 horsepower mated to a six-speed paddle-shift single, but triple-plated clutch from Aisin."

15928699962_4dc1636982_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "When the executives saw my creation, they immediately loved it, and decided to make another one, albeit only a clay model for the North American Auto Show at the beginning of this year. In actuality, only a few know that there is actually a fully-working FT-1, and they're seeing it right now, running at its very best."

Back in the race...

Aha! You made a mistake in the Spoon Curve! How ironic considering your mastery of this track, Nobuhiko. You cannot simply get away from the fact that front-engined cars tend to push their front ends!

15742066180_52a5b0dd25_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "Shoot!"

Though I shouldn't really be cocky. The FT-1 is right on my tail, like a fly buzzing around you!

15741911548_c5f5de0d15_c.jpg

While braking for the chicane.... SHOOT! Nobuhiko just did that to me! His signature rear-end tap!

15929348595_25ea1a7494_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "It begins now. YOU'RE MINE!"

15903553116_5db4f2237b_c.jpg

At the main straight, the audience just went crazy seeing Nobuhiko's overtake at the start of the 2nd lap.

15309702283_c79946c61e_c.jpg

Takanori: "Darn it! Rotaries aren't really built for something like that."

Hiroyuki: "You see, the FT-1 is very much like Nobuhiko..."

Nobuyuki:
"Eh??? Just how similar are they?"

15927392311_61a16724d1_c.jpg

Crap! I lost control at the first corner! Now he's very much far away!

15903552076_9fa9169fdb_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "The Toyota FT-1 marks the return of Toyota's domination in the performance car world! Much like how Nobuhiko died and returned back to life."

15927392081_564c780bdf_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "Together, they open a new chapter in their lives. And it begins now."

Location: Aoyama, Tokyo

The small street where Takuma and his family live, has its silence shattered by loud diesel engine sound. Some neighbors come out, and then they see a large trailer truck coming their way, followed by a luxury sedan.

Coming out of the said sedan is Sir Shaw McCarthy. He looks at the neighbors, while the men from the truck get out and open the lid at the back.

Sir Shaw: "Is this where Takuma Kanonji lives?"

Mochi Shop Employee: "Yes. But if you're looking for him, he's not here. He left last night, and then his family left at dawn."

Sir Shaw: "Such a shame. I do wish to speak to him. But I guess I should not make this trip pointless. Alright, men, bring her out."

When they set a ramp behind the truck, they push out a strange-looking car, prompting even more neighbors to look.

Then they just push the car until they reach the porch of Takuma's home.

15911759326_81de642c86_c.jpg

Sir Shaw: "All right, that should do it, chaps. Oh, please tell him that this is my present for him. I gotta go, folks."

He then returns to his sedan and then leave. Some people draw close to the car and look at it on every angle, as their curiosities rise even more.

The battle rages on. And I am already falling behind! Nobuhiko is a terrifying beast once he gets behind the wheel!

It's really difficult to race someone in his home course!

Hiroyuki: "There's also something I found out from Nobuhiko lately. He had foregone the one-hand steering technique I taught him."

Nobuyuki: "Huh? Why?"

15751514369_7bfb7c237a_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "That's because he wants to develop in his own way. I see nothing wrong against that. But what's amazing is that he had learned a new steering technique derived from mine."

Nobuyuki: "New steering technique?"

Hiroyuki: "After months of steering using just one hand, he can finally make the similar inputs using two hands. He took note on the ideal steering angles on one hand, and then apply the same using both hands to steer. That way, it's more precise, and it's easier. He has excellent memory, and with that, he can precisely steer in any given corner."

15751514089_ae153c391c_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "However, I'm sure what he's doing right now, will not guarantee him an easy win. His opponent's sheer willpower will work against it."

Then he gets the radio communication system, and contacts one of the track marshals.

Hiroyuki: "Alpha, what's the status?"

Marshal A: "The FT-1 is still on the lead, but the RX500 is keeping up!"

Hiroyuki: "I see."

Nobuyuki: "Takuma-san..."

15911758296_d94fc048fd_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "Nobuhiko, the same will happen to you. YOU WILL BE HUNTED DOWN. Don't panic."

(Background Music starts here)

15937549955_ee637b0d95_c.jpg

What's wrong, Little Nobu? The RX500 weighs half of your car! Where's your mastery of this track?

15317923753_49d6ba0201_c.jpg

The Black Dragon shall eat you alive! Run away if you can!

Hiroyuki: "Bravo, what's your status?"

Marshal B: "The RX500 cleared the Spoon Curve at an incredible speed! He's right behind the FT-1 once more."

15751512979_9289700133_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "That enormous pressure.... it's just too much! Oyaji felt the same way thirty years ago!

But... this battle is what I've dreamed of!"

I braked late approaching the Hitachi Automotive Systems Chicane. Such a long name for a chicane... ugh.

I got you now...

15751807327_f3e688a4c3_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "He's already at my side?!?"

15937548825_6da7fa949b_c.jpg

The final lap... IT'S NOW OR NEVER! BRING IT ON!

15750114688_66ca27e69b_c.jpg

I shall show you how hard work and determination can surpass a genius like you! When it comes to a dogfight...

15751806547_137a5d0f2f_c.jpg

...a Kanonji will never back down. I AM A FIGHTER!

End of Page 6

Page 7 - Deus Ex Machina

Hiroyuki: "Alpha, what's the situation?"

Marshal A: "There is no gap between them at all! The RX-500 puts on too much pressure!"

(Background Music starts here)

15757718798_3e56bc4340_c.jpg

Nobuhiko, I can hit and hit and hit until you finally succumb. That's one defining trait I inherited from my father!

Nobuhiko: "This understeer... Damn!"

15945145845_6a0e3e95d4_c.jpg

Well, my car's grip is slowly running out as well. But it doesn't matter now! I'll never give up!

15759158719_d8ab86f5bc_c.jpg

The FT-1 cannot unleash its full potential even in this gentle curve because of the understeer! All right! Odds are in my favor now!

15325570863_e3340d2f6b_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "Bravo, are they approaching the Spoon Curve?"

15944475692_f4b06708ba_c.jpg

Marshal B: "Just now! Whoa, the RX-500 sets a gap from the FT-1! The FT-1 has strong understeer!"

Hiroyuki: "I see."

Hiroyuki turns off the communication.

Hiroyuki: "Just as I thought. The 2JZ-GTE may be a powerhouse, but it's just too heavy."

Nobuyuki:
"What happened?"

Hiroyuki: "I think... there will finally be a victor."

Oyaji... if you're watching right now, I'll guarantee you... that the same thing will never happen!

15325506403_dce2908c13_c.jpg

The FT-1 recovered again. Dammit! I'll keep on attacking! ATTACK!

15759395157_9cc1ec74aa_c.jpg

15322873494_cb0d300302_c.jpg

He'll definitely block me after the 130R. Hence, I'll take the risk and tackle him at the small space I just saw!

15919333906_6fc127b0b6_c.jpg

Got you! Once again, the RX-500's lightness allows me to brake much later!

Nobuhiko: "I can't believe this..."

15759394717_d01d1b4e9c_c.jpg

However, as we approach that final gentle curve before the main straight, I hear a tire screech...

SHOOT! I AM SPINNING OUT! DAMMIT!

THE FT-1 ALSO LOST CONTROL!

Takanori: "Both of them spin out!"

Nobuyuki: "This is way too intense!"

Tomoko: "Will this be a draw again?!?"

15944474692_cf27205340_c.jpg

Nobuhiko: "No! Damn... paddle shifters can't shift to reverse immediately!"

No... just NO!

That last bit of luck, however, struck on me. During the spin, the FT-1 ended up on the grass, while the RX-500's back is facing the straight.

ALL RIGHT! SHIFT TO REVERSE! Now you see why manual transmissions are to stay!

15943197871_874c515237_c.jpg

Rob: "How clever! Takuma is reversing!"

15325524193_7f95627221_c.jpg

Takanori: "GO ANIKI!!! ONE LAST PUSH TO VICTORY!"

Then perform a J-TURN! Hit the clutch and shift to 1st gear!

15322874434_19d35a3429_c.jpg

And... VICTORY IS MINE!

15322874174_17460fe7e9_c.jpg

Takanori: "YOSSHA! The Kanonjis win!"

The audience made a standing ovation. Kaz remains on his seat, but shows a smile on his face.

Kazunori: "Truly a wonderful duel. Takuma Kanonji... that man has gotten a lot more interesting."

Oyaji.... I did it. I FINALLY DID IT! This victory made me shed tears once again. This victory is for you! I'm sure you can finally rest happily.

Upon stopping the car and getting out, everyone in the team rush towards me, and then they carry and toss me repeatedly.

Takanori: "I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT! I'm having tears of joy right now!"

Rob: "You cheeky little... how am I supposed to beat you now?"

After tossing me, Nobuhiko then arrives, and then reaches out his hand.

Nobuhiko: "Congratulations. You are one hell of an opponent."

Takuma: "You too. I shall never forget this experience. With this, both of us have actually become faster."

Then we shake hands. I never ever considered you as an enemy. You are my teammate, Nobuhiko. It's just that our rivalry made us competitive, and that's actually healthy. We become stronger when we outdo each other.

While celebrating, Hiroyuki just looks up bright sunny sky.

Hiroyuki: "Michiharu.... are you happy now? You finally defeated me. All those thirty years of waiting have finally come to an end. Congratulations. You finally have proven to me how powerful your determination is."

And then, I walked a bit further. I look up at the bright sun.

Here's a thumbs up for you, Oyaji. We did it.

Wow, what an ending! Takuma pulled a Jackie Chan in "Thunderbolt"-esque move right there. Rotary power wins against the future. But now there's the Furai factor...

If you have read my GT5 fanfics, Takuma has already driven the Furai. But since Sir Shaw still aims to repent what he has done, he doesn't know nor remember that he is to acquire it.

Ah finally... I managed to set a closure. The world has waited for too long, and it deserves to see that. The battle was one of the most memorable experiences in life, and I learned a lot from it. Now I know how it feels to race against an opponent with equal skill, chances of victory are very slim. You have to pour out everything you have.

The lap times in the FIA GT3... they just hit me hard, and then it sent me to a slump, until my father sent me a message again - to wake up and face the competition with a determined heart. Lap times are just numbers, and so does the performance figures. Skill truly prevails in a battle.

I truly respect Nobuhiko and his skills. No one should dare underestimate him, and don't let his meek looks fool you. He's more than just a gentle person. If I can use him as a subject of comparison, then I definitely will.

Now, let's all move on... to the next chapter.

When we arrived home at night, the neighbors notified me of this...

15949543621_6e9e593a1b_c.jpg

And then I picked up a note from its windshield. It's from old man Shaw. Oh I remember... I drove this once at the Nurburgring, but I never remembered that he'll give this to me. I wonder why...

So I let it just sit in the garage, until I can contact him.

15331883063_bdd692736b_c.jpg

Rob: "Pretty wicked bit of kit."

Takuma: "I didn't ask for this from that old man Shaw. I gotta talk to him and let him explain."

Rob: "Right. Oh, have I mentioned? I have a race in Motegi next week, as Mr. Hiroyuki told me that I am to represent for a charity race."

Takuma: "Well, at least you're doing something fun in your vacation."

Rob: "I gotta call Ricky again, and send my car here."

Takuma: "As usual, you're going to slaughter the competition. I get it. I get it."

I haven't forgotten about you, Rob. Someday, we'll have a duel. I guess you're next.
Unless you're planning something even bigger... then I'll wait for it.

Well, it's the charity race, and we the Dream Alliance are also socially responsible.

15764213540_e4f9245601_c.jpg

Sadly, however, we're not in full attendance. Takanori, Rob and I are only present. Hiroyuki-san has been busy lately, and so does his children.

And the opponents? All thoroughbred racing cars. You have Le Mans cars?

15950837372_0e03cb65ac_c.jpg

WE HAVE ROB HATCH.

15765763457_5170b6b167_c.jpg

Takanori: "Damn... I still cannot believe how fast a KTM X-Bow can go! Proper tuning does play a lot."

15765763297_7e5df18f95_c.jpg

Rob: "Got ya, little Jag."

15949542401_a26caa374a_c.jpg

And just at the 2nd lap, Rob takes the lead. Does that KTM run on cheetah blood?

15765475089_a91515b74d_c.jpg

Takanori: "What the hell!"

15949542021_3a738da4eb_c.jpg

Takuma: "That's the benefit of lightness. And I thought you are also a fan of lightweight track cars. Why do you keep your Roadster for?"

I'm sure the CLK LM's driver will literally drop his jaw, upon seeing the KTM totally gone from his sight.

15925712846_fd29b8ca1c_c.jpg

Rob: "Better learn to drive a Le Mans race car properly, son. You disappoint me."

15764088338_d7a68771cc_c.jpg

At the end of the race, we won with an amazing gap of 30 seconds from the 2nd placer. This is one little rascal that shouldn't be messed with.

15951496905_326c6ec64b_c.jpg

Rob returns to the pit lane, and walk like badass once again, lighting up a cigarette.

Takanori: "You just owned everyone else. No... you're the boss!"

Rob: "Winning is all what I have to do, am I right? So I just have to pull it off, like what I do as an MI6 agent."

Takuma: "Great job, buddy. Our opponents will cry back home to their mommies."

Rob: "Oh, there's something that almost slipped my tongue."

Takanori: "What is it?"

Rob: "Two days ago, Mr. Hiroyuki hinted something about expanding the team."

Takuma: "Team expansion?"

Not only in the office, but also in our team? Man... so many auditions and applications oncoming, huh? And it took us a lot of effort recruiting members in our team!

Rob: "It's just a hint. Maybe he'll open up more on that later on."

Takanori: "You know, I think this will be a new chapter for us. I say I approve of the team getting bigger. This is also beneficial when we have races abroad, as not all of us will be available for all of those. Manpower is what this team needs."

One Month Later...

Location: Suzuka Circuit
Time: 3 pm

A loud, high-pitched sound dominates the entire track.

Formula One car in testing? Far from it...

15950835212_c378fbdf58_c.jpg

15925711766_6467395bd3_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "I say... Phase 2 is a success. Nobuhiko has grown from that battle, and so this car must follow."

15765761067_9f39a923dc_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "Growing to the next stage does not always have to be from success. Even defeat makes us grow."

15951495745_e7be9c47cb_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "That is one thing that Nobuhiko has to experience. It's very important, as defeat will actually make one stronger.

Now, there's the question if he can adapt on this car quickly. His first experience on this might disorientate him."

15925711356_dd734f216d_c.jpg

Hiroyuki: "Today, a new saga begins. But I already feel...

...that a much bigger challenge awaits us. I say we will take it. I have learned so much from Michiharu after all.

"We, the Dream Alliance... SHALL NEVER BACK DOWN! WE ARE FIGHTERS!"

THE END

AUTHOR'S NOTES:

- The expansion of Dream Alliance is necessary to combat Kaz's Vision GT Project. The next story will be the first one to have a new member recruited in. Rob will volunteer to scout for potential members, and so he will return to UK to get it started. He will discover someone, and will take that person as his protege.

Think of it as Rob Hatch being the next Sir Ben McCarthy. And he will be, for the entire team.

FT1 is evolving...! FT1 has evolved into Racer's FT1! That's one way to introduce a VGT car, good idea.

Also, Rob just keeps on getting even more bada:censored: as times goes by, eh? He pummels a whole field of LM Prototypes with a KTM and then just puffs one cigar like it was another day for him. Monday, that is.
