Oh god... I can't text for squat without using predictive stuff. Undoubtedly, it is likely why my next phone will have a keyboard.

I guess I'm old-school that way. I don't like having machines do my work for me.

Assuming they actually wanted to chat, simply hanging up the phone is probably not a great option.... and how exactly do you go about chatting via text? I imagine that's extremely cumbersome.

Don't be dense. If they only wanted to chat, and you're not available, then they simply hang up and call again later.

I agree that VM is cumbersome for the recipient, and can even be cumbersome for the originator, if less so.

Both wrong! I fail to see what I got wrong. Posting a picture of a Sega Mega System is never going to be linked to someone asking what SMS stands for, EVER. You simply made no sense.
News to me. I've never heard the words short message service (which in itself doesn't make sense considering what it actually is) being explained as SMS, and very rarely do I ever hear anyone ever talk about that old gaming girl without shortening it to SMS. I do, however, apologize, if the concept of taking the first letters of a fairly popular item and using them as an acronym isn't a concept fully grasped by yourself. Though stating my post made no sense is a pretty dubious claim cosidering Azuremen figured it out easily enough. Good day.

And I hope in the future you don't use archaic references to ask questions, instead of phrasing a question.
Right. I'll keep that in mind.

Alternatively, they could let you know they wanted to chat and you could call when you're available instead of them trying to guess when that might be the case.

I would think that leaving a voicemail for someone would be less cumbersome than leaving a text (assuming you attempted to call and are about to hear the beep).

Unfortunately, it's never that simple. I always have to listen to the prerecorded message inform me that I need to wait until after the beep to leave a message (as if I didn't already know), I should press 3 to leave a callback number, I should press 4 after the message to hear more options. What a time waster. Then I know they'll have to trudge through the same crap to even listen to my message.

For reference, I own an env^2

Solid phone. I've had mine for like 8 months without problems. Does yours ever turn off randomly when you close it? My old VX9800 did that, and the new one has done it a few times.

Same here. There is just something weird about having the computer guessing what you're trying to say. And t-9 isn't exactly all that much faster I find, if you're proficient with the regular keypad.

Depends on the person I think. I have friends that I can never understand on the phone, so its usually easier for them to just send me something quick. College kids would likely tell you that SMS is easier to keep updated with stuff in class, or in more "private" situations.

I find it all decidedly "meh," as I pay the most for talk time... So I use it.

You know Ozzy?

Nah he's right honestly. In all that time spent texting she could have walked to the various people she has texted and talked in person.
Exercise and a Proper Social life all in one go!

Or she could have been walking and texting. Hell, I text people in the middle of face to face conversations often.

And in all honestly, someone commenting that she could spend her time better when they themselves are sitting on the internet posting on forums has no room to talk.

Thats just rude.

And I can safely talk about exercising more, I go out MTBing for atleast 30 miles every weekend and have been entering some Enduro events.

I wasn't directing that last bit at you as much as people claiming better things to do with your time besides texting.

It is only rude if I don't pay attention and stop talking. Which I don't. Multi tasking crew.

Oh ok, I agree with that. I've never known anyone to be able to talk and text at the same time.

My brother is worse. He can glance the phone, see the message, put it back in his pocket, and compose and send the entire text by touch.

It doesn't seem so hard if you actively try to figure out how you would do that. the hand in the pocket while typing thing is the only thing that sounds difficult.

I used to be able to text on the phone while having it up to my ear... nowadays, with speakerphones and hands-free, I don't need to.

Girls, girls, let's not get catty.

We should take it to the PMS or the PMS?

I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist. :D

I saw on FOX News earlier something about a teenage girl sending 35,000 SMS's monthly. I think she wanted to break the record or something, IMO. XD

The most I've sent in a month was nearly 6,000.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the UK the texting per capita champion of the world? Kinda odd when we have a few outstanding Americans who can bump that number up by themselves alone!

Wow, i've sent 386 on my phone which i've had for almost 2 years... and i'm on 1c text so that's only $3.86 worth...
