Hmmmm
Hard to say much without giving the plot away really.
It's a good action movie with the expected explosions and Hans Zimmer soundtrack.
It starts in the future, but quickly moves back to terminator 1 in some fairly authentic fashion.
Lots of in jokes for fans of the franchise, but where they make you chuckle and momentarily reminisce, they also quickly make you realise that they are puppeteering your favourite terminator folklore, and boy are they swinging the strings about.
I enjoyed it, but I left the theatre with several questions and quite a few "well if that was the case, why didn't they just do that" thoughts.
You know like how the entire premise of some of the older movies from the seventies and eighties could have been completely undone if just one character had had a cellphone?
Its a bit like that.
There is a bit of time travelling in this film, and that always leads me to the classic Marty mcfly moment when he says "if only I had more time..... Wait a minute! What am I talking about I've got a time machine!, I can just go back a little earlier....."
If they had used their time travelling antics a little more wisely, then you could have cut the runtime down to 30 minutes.
But I guess no one would go to see a thirty minute movie (unless it was Kung fury), so they needed to do something.
So, I'm babbling a bit, sorry, erm.... It's an ok action flick with some new style terminators, some good homage to terminator movies gone by, some sacrilegious timeline/folklore alterations and a fine looking pair of breasts.
And arnie's in it too.
I read somewhere online that it's the first of three, but I honestly can't really see how.
To say why I can't see how would be spoiling it for everyone, but I'm sure if the regular contributors to this section of the forum go see it and then speculate on where they are going with this side of the story, then maybe my eyes will be opened.
Is it worth going to the theatre for?
If you like an action movie which you know the backstory to (and that is essential) then why not.
It's certainly an enjoyable film.
If you like to save money and only go for movies that will take your breath away and make you think about them for weex to come, then I'd say wait for the bluray.
One thing I did was leave the theatre without waiting for the credits to finish.
I have a feeling I should have stayed and double checked that I didn't miss some vital clue to the next one at the end of the credits, but maybe That was just because I felt like the film shouldn't have just ended where it did.
Time will tell I guess.
Some terminator purists will leave the theatre disgusted, I have no doubt.
Postulating on what on earth they are going to do to the timeline next.
Some will leave feeling that when the credits rolled, the whole franchise had just been terminated.
