Is there a massive GTP textchat going on? If not, why not?! All of our friends list can combine, almost like... private races.

That race chat might be useful if I could do it and play the game at the same time, but you cant. Thats why I started this thread, same thing can be accomplished within the confines of just the PS3. Real time, invite only, everything everyone has complained about has been fixed. Whats going on? Is everyone still using 2 computers to do the task 1 can do?

Alot can. They have either a laptop or a computer and run the chat aswell, why the chat is so popular.

If you cant then add NTSC user (or your version of the game). As your NTSC you may not find that many current GTP members that only run NTSC.

Another draw back is that you can only have so many users in the PS3 Text Box.

I Still think Live racing chat, should be embedded into the main pages. Take TDUcentral Live chat for example.
Things like, Small chat screen with GTP browser. Or option to go full chat screen. Or Just float.

Just my 4 cents though

Yes, I refuse to run 3 outlets of electricity just to race on-line. 1 for PS and 1 for G25, that's enough! Why not use the latest PS3 update to our advantage, as well as cutting down on the consumption of electricity? I guess Im not in the GTP "box."

To bad for you... you'd be a whole lot cooler if you were....

EERS4YEARS - because the GTP chat is alot easier to use. There isnt a limited number of people you can invite, you get different users all the time, its easier to use, you dont run the risk of your PS3 / XMB freezing when using it. List goes on.

TorqueHappenS08 - Jordan has answered that before:

The chat room is quite difficult to maintain from a moderation perspective, and I prefer it to be used only as a facilitator to online racing. Linking to it only from the GT5 Prologue forum is one way that I hope to get that message across. GTPlanet Ideas is actually hosted by a free service called UserVoice. Because I don't have ultimate control over it, I don't feel comfortable adding it to the main menu. It's just something fun that I wanted to put together.

 Probably not, he seems to have a fear of box's.

Well he would not like my setup then!
I must have at least 8 different things plugged in to make my box run.

This text chat thing in way cool:tup:

3 outlets? I use 7 8 not counting the lighting circuit

TV
PS3
1100 Watt AV Receiver
3000 Watt Sub
G25
Computer for VoIP
Linksis Wireless Router
Cable Modem

The benefit from this is I can turn the heat down in the room to conserve energy. :sly:

Wow, be proud of ruining the earth. I forgot my 19in LCD tv on energy saver mode. So how many people can be in a textChat? Ive only had 9 at once.

16 people in a text chat. Teamspeak still works much better. You cavemen and your silly text chats...

Or ventrillo... I use ventrillo when I'm racing with the guys at Legit-Racing. You gotta love voice chatting during a race!

VoiceChat is the most unrealistic thing you can do. If we get "spectator mode" it might be ok to have a spotter, but other than that I definitely dont want guys talking while Im driving. Also, if we were all cavemen we would still have polar icecaps, and fish wouldn't be eating trash, and rivers would still have water. You guys are silly, no... you are irresponsible.

EERS4YEARS, let's be a lot cooler bro....lol.:sly:

There was a slight tone of sarcasm to that comment that might have slipped your attention... Next time I will try to convey my message a bit clearer... 👍

Definitely caught it. I was also being sarcastic that's all lol:tup:

You don't know the first thing about voice and GT. Don't knock it until you try it.

Voice chat is a perfect tool for organizing races in Prologue. Also, Most of the users have basic enough respect for others that the chatter is pretty minimal during races. If they don't have a modicum of respect, we have server admins.

Thanks to the use of Teamspeak, we've had a league up and running for months on end. Last month alone we had over 50 drivers participate in our events. We're so well organized that we can even incorporate the people who don't have a PC to use while they're playing. Our race nights can have as many as 3 whole groups of 10 or more.

We've been using Teamspeak since before the NA launch. We've developed a large community of drivers interested in fair racing, and a lot of friendships have been built along the way. Being able to talk allows instant apologies, clear communication of intentions, and most importantly the ability to tell some jokes and to enjoy a good laugh with friends. If GT5 doesn't have voice support, I will be disappointed, though already equipped with a back up.

FYI, Nascar drivers on the same team can now talk to eachother, so it's not entirely foreign to the real racing world. I happen to think an open comm line for all drivers would benefit any real race series.

And, if you just don't like it, don't plug in a headset. I recommend being wholly ignorant to new ideas and features.

Solar is the perfect advocate for TextChat. Me and Solar battle via TextChat daily, and we also smoke anyone else that may enter our races with us.
Hey Solar, go check the "post replays for constuctive critisim" and see the times they have posted for suzuka 550pp, It is pretty interesting.

You are totally missing the point FORGETFUL.
To admin-Apparently this thread is going no where.

doing it right now bro. Still fairly new to this forum and trying to catch up hehe.

If your point is that you 'don't want people talking while your driving', you're still missing the point.

Voice chat is a better communication system. Text works, but You and Solar could do the same, and more, with voice, and it would be easier to include more people. Like I said, 30+ people racing 'together', and we do it 3 nights a week.

Voice communication is very much realistic in racing. It's even more of reality in the world of online gaming.

Being that prologue is limited in its online funtctions, voice keeps everyone on the same page. If a room is dumped, or we get split up, getting back in sync is simple. It also allows us to give our friends a heads up about 'dirty' drivers making their way through the field in an unfriendly manner.

And, if the little bit of radio chatter there is does bother you (remember, we have respect for other drivers, so we keep the non race related chatter to a minimum, so really, all you get is race info...it's just like having a few spotters.) you can have all the advantages of instant vocal communication and organization between races, then you can mute the room when the race starts. 💡

So, you don't have to put up with the aspects you don't like, but you can improve your experience. Voice chat>text chat. It's technology.

I'm in Canada... Ice, fish, rivers... all good, thanks!👍

Seriously though, since the beginning of Prologue, GTP has never embraced VoIP the way we at the NA PSU boards did. My caveman comment was a generic joke about the difference in technology. It was in no way personal, or directed at any individuals., and if you were offended by it, that's your problem.

Text chat... almost as good as this cat's communication method.
