If your point is that you 'don't want people talking while your driving', you're still missing the point.

Voice chat is a better communication system. Text works, but You and Solar could do the same, and more, with voice, and it would be easier to include more people. Like I said, 30+ people racing 'together', and we do it 3 nights a week.

Voice communication is very much realistic in racing. It's even more of reality in the world of online gaming.

Being that prologue is limited in its online funtctions, voice keeps everyone on the same page. If a room is dumped, or we get split up, getting back in sync is simple. It also allows us to give our friends a heads up about 'dirty' drivers making their way through the field in an unfriendly manner.

And, if the little bit of radio chatter there is does bother you (remember, we have respect for other drivers, so we keep the non race related chatter to a minimum, so really, all you get is race info...it's just like having a few spotters.) you can have all the advantages of instant vocal communication and organization between races, then you can mute the room when the race starts. 💡

So, you don't have to put up with the aspects you don't like, but you can improve your experience. Voice chat>text chat. It's technology.

Well put. There are times when we come across drivers that are blocking or bumping others of the track. We can't warn anyone immediately, so I can see how this would help others. Other times when one of us would have to stop, because of doorbells, phone etc..... Causing everyone to stop. If we have live communications that would prevent a lot of this issues. And that's just speaking of non racing related issues. I can see where forgeful is coming from. In any case I must try this out. Unfortunately most of my in game friends are fossils like myself and we just don't like learning how to use new things lol. Forgetful, if you could guide me to where I can learn how to use it, would be wonderful.. I already have the necessary hardware. Thanks..

So we can't do this with just our PS3. We have to have a laptop or a desk top running at the same time to be able to communicate with other racers.

Never mind, you gave me the link to the second page:crazy:. Thanks for your help forgeful.👍

Fingers crossed for full voice in GT5!:nervous:

your right..... now I can understand eers4years..lol I 5yrs old boy and a 2yrs old girl running around me while playing gt5p. lap top and desk top on at the same time would be too much of a distraction them. they wouldn't leave me alone...lol:scared: Hopefully GT5 is all inclusive.:nervous:

From my experience with the aforementioned Teamspeak server, there is very minor chatter while the actual driving is being done.

Aside from reporting the odd shunt or hearing the odd apology or curse, it's mostly dead air until the race has finished.

Teamspeak's very handy, IMHO... though I'm not a fan of all the 'teamwork' (ie - bump drafting) that goes on between friends while racing SFS, for example. That's my own bag of problem though and I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem for me at all if I raced more and had more friends online. :dopey:

Damn needing to work and pay bills... :shakes fist at clouds:

EDIT-- It's VERY easy to hook up a bluetooth adapter + bluetooth headset for use with your computer, some modern motherboards come with bluetooth standard. Bluetooth has a range of up to 30ft so there might not be a need to cart your laptop around after all.

hmmmm... theres and idea. blue tooth, me like blue tooth. sometime i wish the steering wheels setup that i have is also blue tooth like the dual shock. It would make for a much cleaner paying environment.

but you would lose your force feedback :(

just get your kids something new and shiny to distract them, that's what most've my buds with kids have had to do ;)

I have two additional TVs in the room. Lots of shinny stuff:sly: I don't think that people would appreciate hearing "The Wiggles" and "Sponge Bob" in the background:yuck:..lol. I would get kicked off of the server anyhow. Just read the whole guidelines to teamspeak. I can see how it would be fun. 👍

Look, the text chat is useful, I've staged races with friends on my PS3 with no teamspeak via this feature as opposed to the pain that it was to do it via messages (It took more time and coordination). However, the PS3's text chat has a huge shortcoming and that is the -painfully- tiny message sizes you're allowed to send. Only 32 characters, seriously?

I think this is a very good and (somewhat) needed feature, but until they fix it's issues I won't be using it too often unless I absolutely have to (Racing with friends with no laptops for instance, I have a couple of them).

The whole point of this was to cut down on electricty, thus giving the world a chance at survival. If you have wind turbines, or solar power, use all the computers at once. Its just a game, its not worth costing future generations living quality.

That might have been better conveyed if you had made the point in the thread title, or your original post. With Earth Day being earlier this week, your point could have been considered relevant and started some interesting conversation, if nothing else.

well i meant my point of the post i wrote, not the entire thread. truely i think voicechat is cool, but kind of over the top. i was considering a thread strictly for earth day, but it just happened this way. im no eco friendly model, but I do what I can. And I personally dont like others telling me what to do, but its hard to tell your POV without coming across as over bearing, or a bungholio. So I tried to be senseable by just talking about textchat but everyone kept telling me to use a laptop, or a PC, so my views of the world just came out. Sorry for the confusion and sort of getting off topic, but like I said it just happened. Ill gladly start a thread trying to save the world 1 computer at a tme, but I have a feeling Ill be called a "caveman" and nothing will be accomplished.

Voise is far from over the top. GT (PD) are way behind. Toca 3 for PS2 had a great voise chat and private rooms system. There was no laptop nessasary.

We have to play GT5P with our own enginering because PD is in the stone age.

Once you've had the pleasure of trying voise EERS4YEARS, I'm sure you would have to agree it is nessasary for PD to have it in future GT games.

Well put. There are times when we come across drivers that are blocking or bumping others of the track. We can't warn anyone immediately, so I can see how this would help others.

That's how EERS4YEARS became so famous with the TS crowd. If you bump 2 out of 12 drivers for no good reason and 9 of them are communicating with TS, that information is passed immediately. Others are warned that driver x is approaching and you can take the appropriate line to not get punted. With text chat, those types of messages happen after the fact when it's too late and you're in the sand.

Warning - Be careful when bumping positions 8 through 12 because when you get to the 1st and 2nd place drivers they might be aware of how you got there even though they couldn't see it. TS rules are very strict when it comes to initiating contact with other drivers but in special circumstances, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. :sly:

Im faster and Cleaner than you. Show n Prove boy. Last I checked you wrecked me. And I do hit people on purpose, but you get to hear 1 side of the story. Dont you get that? You hear one side! Nonetheless, Ill race my race, and all of you can remember my name. That is fine with me.

Like I said previously about VoiceChat, it is cool but not very realistic. Me and Solarr and some other Cavemen talked about it last night, I might consider it if I could use it without another cmputer. But I dont have any plans on playing a game with"very strict rules" as fathead stated there currently are.

This must had happened awhile ago. Not to defend anyone, but my races with EERS4YEARS have been very clean. Any bumping is usually during a straight to gain speed, besides that he stays very clean. I raced against him just almost everynight. Hopefully your experience with him will be different the nex time you guys meet on the track. And hopefully I'll get the chance to race against you guys soon.👍

You guys are very close minded. You have no scope of the situation. When I get hit I dont tell everyone, But when they get hit back... get it now? I wont name names, but this started when I entered a race for the first time, 550pp fuji RWD, without any knowledge of what the lap times were, and a TunersPit guy was extremely mad I was 2 secaonds a lap slower than them. So Im positive my name became notorious that night. So I smashed him at a race I was more comfortable with at a later date. You guys need strict rules to keep from killing each other.
You all act like the cool kids in the cafeteria at the cool kids table. Grow up. Show some respect, even to slow guys. This is a game, not the end of the world.

Good job not quoting the part where he hit me. I was holding my position, not letting them by, and I got wrecked. And I didnt mention how I received a lengthy hate mail form this old man after the incident.

The other opinion of when you got hit hasn't been posted by that party.
Your opinion of your actions are 100% valid.

ok seriously, we're getting side track here. We've all have been bumped off and pushed out at one point or another. I understand that we are all very competitive. It's is our nature and that's why we love this game so much. But we're also adults. Lets put our differences aside and hope that our next race together is competitive and clean. All of us has those bad days that we brake late or work extra hard just to hold our lines and still lost, but that's the beauty of this game. There will always be someone faster. And because of that someone, we become faster. In the end, it is still a game. Hopefully the next time you guys race, it'll be clean and competitive. Isn't that the spirit of this game?

Last I checked, respect is also, not blocking a much faster car, and letting them by. Who's the one showing no respect now.

I get it now. You must drive a hybrid, have a field of wind mills, solar panels covering your roof, hydro power in the back yard, and you are selling all your extra energy back to the power company and staying off the grid right???? Oh, I'm not.

What about, and I quote you, "i dont like telling people what to do". Yet you continually bash people who use voice services, or for using more that 3 power outlets.

You also wrote " I'm faster and cleaner" then you go on to say "I do hit people on purpose".:dunce:

You also just told us that you hold grudges. You said you moved to a track you are more comfortable with and purposly wrecked someone. Is that what we all have to look forward to? Being wrecked a day, a week, a month later.

Sometimes your comments are nuttier than squirrel turds.

No one lets anyone by. Fight for every position, especially a podium spot. Thats racing, not disrespect. Check the "Grey areas of Clean racing thread." If any of you watch AMA motocross... Does Chad Reed let Bubba by? NO WAY!!! Bubba's always faster than everyone, and no one lets him by.

Boston is always wrong. No grudges, just payback. Never bashed Voicechat users, said is a little excessive using 2 computers. And boston wouldnt know about my cleanliness, except how clean my back bumper is. Boston acts like the girl "boston" from the show "Bad Girls" Apparently people from boston act like they are from boston.

2 XTR guys ganging up on me, you guys should go back to the cool kids table. lol.

I've been collecting some great video (all in HD) of what I am calling "The Bad Boys of Prologue". It shows very clearly the typical moves of the crashers, bashers and blockers and all the things true GT gamers have come to describe as lack of respect. It will all be up on YouTube for the world to see some day soon .... and oh, by the way, did I mention, it stars EERS4YEARS :)

AWESOME!!!!! Send me a link, ASAP!!! Did I mention ANFD has crashed me before too, lol. 3 XTR guys ganging up, you all are way too cool for me.

I am so freaking excited!!! Hurry. Make sure I get a link, Please! How much of me is in there?? Any commentary? or any of the messages I sent you, or even better the messages you sent me?
Let me guess.. all at HSR, right? lol

Excuse me, but you are minorly delusional .... you don't see any XTR reference in my name do you ? And secondly, it would seem that anyone who calls you on your disrespect gets automatically added to the guys who have crashed you list. I tried reasoning with you politely in the XMB system long ago and all your response was that were so much faster than everyone else and that you could beat everybody with the inferior Elise at HSR. It would seem that winning means so much to you that sacrificing respect along the way is simply a choice you are prepared to make.
