2 weeks! Yikes.. My only real experience with them has been in the past few years so I'm lucky :)

I'm sure you will enjoy your new toys! Let us know how it goes.

I can just remember a few years back it taking atleast 2 weeks for USPS to get a package across the country.

I am really looking forward to getting all this hooked up and rolling, Going from a controller right to a Sim-Seat with a CSR elite wheel, club sport v2 pedals, TH8 (thanks to you), and triple 27's, Should be some fun times ahead!!

Wow, from controller to triple 27's and CSR elite with V2's, and mrbashers device to make them all play together nicely. Now that's how you upgrade .

Fun times ahead indeed Mike R 👍!

I hope so!! Once everything is set up i will report back!!

You're welcome! :D

It's still weird to see a photo posted of something I sent to someone. My brain is still coming to grips with the reality that people all over the world are using something I made. :)

I was able to do some mods to my shifter this week while waiting for my sfa1 to come in. I machined a new plate to shorten the engagement and ommit the 7th gear, I also cut down the rod to shorten the length and drilled and tapped the end to fit my unused csr elite sequential knob. I made a model for the plate in solid edge, so if I get some more aluminium plates and some free time I maybe able to make more.

After I saw this post by Villeneuve73 back on page 7 of this thread, I asked him if he might be able to make another one for me. Well it arrived today in the mail.

Villenueve73 this thing is outstanding! 👍

Inside edges of the shifter gates are silky smooth too!! 👍

Posted in greater detail on the TH8 RS Shifter Thread!

Just a minor update...

Previously I was asked on several occasions if I could get the TH8RS handbrake functionality to work with the SFA1 and Clubsport pedals... Well, I can and I did... With the help of Spike! You can read about his project here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=265216

I will post some more details on this after further testing. However, thus far it is apparently working great for him. He has only tested in the Forza series thus far. This functionality will NOT work in GT5 as the Fanatec wheel simply emulates a Logitech wheel.

I think it may also work on PC. I believe the handbrake input is reported but just doesn't show up on the properties page. So if you are in a game configuring controls, it will show up. I will verify this and post back later.

This is great news. So I reckon you made a cable going to the CSP handbrake port?

Yep, exactly. One end goes into the CSP handbrake port, using the proper connector for the port of course. The other plugs into the SFA1.

First of all, setup was plug and play and pretty straight forward.
In Forza the handbrake is recognized analog and in real time, even though Forza only knows on/off for the handbrake. So even at 1% reading it's full handbrake.
But that the analog reading is supported by Forza gives hope for more.
GT5/PS3 could get a fix via wheel firmware imo, once Fanatec launches the CSH.
(emulating "O" via firmware e.g.)
On the topic PC, I'll post more information, once i got time to test some more ;)
I'll keep you guys posted.

Sounds nice. If all is well then I reckon this should work with all wheels that have CSPs attached to them.
Reminds me... I haven't even checked for firmware updates in ages for the SHA1. Ooops.

Ideally I'd like to use my fanatec CSR sequential shifter as a handbrake whilst I also have my th8rs/sfa1 combo plugged in. Can't figure out how to do that without opening up the wheel & wiring it to a button tho.

If I could connect it it the CSR elite pedals board that would be great. It has a space on the circuit board but no pins just now.

Jumping back a bit, mrbasher, are you still looking at other evolutions of the SFA1?

I was wondering if it would be possible to add a second port so it could connect a th8rs and a fanatec sequential shifter. It would then auto detect & switch to what you're using.

Eg I might have the sequential shifter set to be handbrake but still use the th8rs as an h pattern shifter. Couldn't change gear & use handbrake at the same moment but without a 3rd arm to steer with I don't think that would be a problem
;-)

Actually... :)

This is something I plan to release soon and it will be useful for that among other things:

With the flip of a switch, you can change the shifter you are using. Or, if you want to go the route of using your TH8RS and SFA1 in both handbrake and shifter modes, you can turn it around and connect one output to the wheel and one to your Clubsport pedals. The switch then routes the connection properly.

On the subject of having this work automatically. I'm sorry to say while this is relatively trivial to accomplish, it may end up not working correctly depending on wheel firmware versions. I don't want to put anyone in a position where something they have purchased from me is not working correctly. Withing getting into the details of "why" I will simply say that Fanatec hasn't been very consistent as of late with how the shifter port is being initialized. Thus, I went the manual route.

Anyhow, at least it's pretty ;) Just waiting on my boards to arrive so I can assemble these and test them. The size is 50mm x 50mm x ~20mm

If you just want a cable to connect your Fanatec sequential shifter to your CSP's... I can make you that no problem. It's just a matter of putting the proper connector on the PS2 cable, which I have. No need for an SFA1 or any of that. :)

You're brilliant Basher. I have not used my adaptor yet since everything is packed up but I'd like like that cable for the clubsports. PM me for payment. :)

keep up the awesome work.

Mayaman,

Do you want the cable to connect the SFA1 to the clubsports or do you want the cable to connect the Fanatec sequential to them?

I need to check the wiring on it too :D You guys have to remember that without a change to the Windows driver, the clubsport handbrake input only works in Forza to my knowledge...

I only run TH8s, left the Fanatec shifters long ago. I may do a CST H pattern someday but he doesn't return emails so yeah. LOL

I see I bought my box a bit too early from you. ;)

Looks nice though. Are you really intending to use that plastic top?

The picture I posted is not a change to the SFA1... It's a separate switch that allows users to connect both sequential and gated shifters to their wheel. The shifter type doesn't matter. It can be two Fanatec shifters, two SFA1's, etc.

Don't worry, you didn't purchase your SFA1 too early, the SFA1 hardware will not be changing anytime soon as I can't see a necessity for that.

As for the material, the top and bottom will likely be some form of acrylic. The reason for this is to keep cost down and because it looks kind of cool. Acrylic, while not scratch proof, is resistant enough for these purposes. There are also LEDs inside that you won't be able to see if the top was not somewhat clear.

What are your concerns about the plastic top?

I could make them out of aluminum, but nobody would want to pay for them... ;)

No concerns. I just wondered if we really can look forward to that cool design and since you said so...

Happy Dance!

Oh yes of course you can. :) I already have the boards on order for it.

I could have used a simple 3 pole, dual throw switch... However, because of the sensitivity of the Fanatec shifter port to signal variations, I decided to simpy isolate it from the circuit. This lowers the risk of having to potentially recalibrate the shifter simply due to the switch deteriorating.

The cost of a nice 3PDT switch compared to the parts used here is negligible. :)

I like how you keep the focus on quality of materials used as well as the overal reliability of your products. I wish all manufacturers in the world did that for a change, but sadly they don't.
