This thread is all about the upcoming NBA season. The Miami Heat are the defending champions heading into this season. Who do you think will make some magic come next May or June? This thread is the outlook to the new NBA season.

* Can the Houston Rockets make the playoffs after not making one last year?

* Can the Charlotte Bobcats improve their game and get some personality and identity going?

* How will the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets do this season?

* Can Miami repeat their dominance, or are teams like Detroit and San Antonio going to bring the pain?

* Who could perhaps be a dark horse for the playoffs?

* What great team could likely falter and be a disappointment?

* What player will stand out among others?

Questions like these and more can be asked and discussed in this NBA preview.

Shane Battier is going to push the Rockets to the NBA Finals.

The Celtics could win 30 games or they could win 50 games.

The Chicago Bulls are the most overrated team in basketball. They aren't adding more than 3 wins this season.

The Knicks will continue to suck and I will enjoy it as their payroll exceeds the Gross National Production of Micronesia.

Chris Paul is a bit overrated, but the Hornets should be a bit better than last year. Desmond Mason is gone, so that's a plus.

Josh Childress is going to have a monster season and you're all going to enjoy it. Or else.

Brandon Roy is going to win Rookie of the Year.

Raymond Felton is really good. Emeka Okafor is so badly overrated. So, so, overrated.

NBA Preseason action is taking place now. Opening day should be at the start of November (at least for the Houston Rockets when their first game is at the Utah Jazz). So this gives us some time to see how the impact players for all the teams will perform in the NBA during this preseason.

Actually, most teams will play their star players limited minutes. Preseason is mostly about fine tuning and see who else will make the team.

The coach will play almost everybody in uniform, if not everybody. In most cases, a player or two will get cut by the start of the regular season.

I did go to the Blazers vs. the Sonics(BOOOOOOOO!) tonight. Blazers kicked ass, early. They dominated the Sonics, even when Seattle had players like Ray Allen and Lewis in there. Allen was very impressive though. He's pretty much in mid-season form. 👍

Into the second half, tide changed. Refs turned on the hometeam(Blazers). There was even one call that ref called a foul, I believe on Sergio Rodriguez(from the World Champs, Spain), when he didn't even touch the guy on the three-pointer. I guess even the refs are rusty. Watson, I think was the Sonic who got to shoot 3 FTs, he missed 2 out of 3. :D

During this period with series of horrible calls, Blazers folded. Not surprising, really. They are very young team, and I'm glad that they can learn from this, a preseason game. My only concern was that they stopped hustling during that time, too. Blazers are younger, inexperienced team. If you are not going to outwork the other team, especially in the second half(not that you should slack off early), you can forget about it.

Final Score: Blazers 89 - Sonics(booo!) 99

Couple of rookies I got to see were very exciting. Brandon Roy, while he got schooled by Ray Allen, he played like a veteran out there. He was touted as "most NBA ready", for once, it was true. And Sergio Rodriguez...... damn. He followed the playing style of the Jason "White Chocolate" Williams, and you should get the picture from that. Blazer staffs and media have jokingly nicknamed Sergio, "Spanish Chocolate". If you youtube his name, you can find couple of his highlights. He is fun to watch. Just like White Chocolate, minus the trigger-happiness. 👍

Go Raptors? I'm actually liking how all of these European prospects are looking. Of course I know it's only the pre-season, and the Raptors will probably finish dead last in the East this year.

Go Raptors!

Last season, both, my team Blazers and the Raptors were couple of the worst teams in the NBA. Then these two teams went to two opposite directions. End of the season, neither teams going nowhere. Raptors played to win, and they did have some wins. Like I said, they weren't going anywhere, and they were actually hurting their chances in the lottery by winning. Blazers on the other hand, as expected just like many other bad teams in the past, threw games. Lost as many as they could, so they can gain more chances to win the lottery. We all know who ended up winning the lottery, the raptors. 👍 Talk about karma. I love my Blazers, but I respect the Raptors. I will be rooting for a team that played ball last year, the way it's supposed to be played. Without any of the bullsh#t. I really hope Bargnani works out for them.

Good to see you, Saleen! :)

I like the new look of the Raptors and Bulls, and i'm excited to see how they do.

I will be rooting for the Heat all the way though. :)

The Bulls will disappoint as they just aren't going to be able to score enough points.

The Supersonics will surprise teams. I see ESPN has them pegged at 27th, which is a joke.
