My View:
The whole aspect I had of the car has completely changed. The only problem, imo, I see is the five-spoke star rims which still don't seem to fit. But in person, the car is amazing. I love how it also kept the Maranello's plain-like steering wheel leaving the carbon fibre behind.

It looks like some Maranello aspect was kept, but breeded with the luxury-car that is the 612.

I like it, but it's more of the 612 on a beefed-up status.

Credits to UCP for info.

That steering wheel is nothing like the Maranello's. It's a mix between Enzo and F430. The wheel is from the F430, but the top section (CF with rev counter) and gauge cluster are from the Enzo.

I'm definitely gonna hold on the comments 'til I see one in person to better judge the proportions.

I'll resurect this thread in a year or so...

Flash doesn't like Ferrari red, any red for that matter. Always turns out crummy.

I like this car more and more each time I see it. The only bad part is the 308-like wheels and the sharp creases on the hood bulge. The darker red looks great on it.

I like it now that you can actually see the car in motion. The new styling works, its just going to take some getting used to... You have to ask yourself the question of just how easy it was for Ferrari to have to improve on the 575M, one of the best looking cars ever made...

The only thing I dislike about the car now is the rear-end treatment. Makes it look like an SC430. I'm not too sure on the headlights, but at least they look like they go on the car, which is more than I can say for the 612. The rims are awful (and were 20 years ago on the 308), but at least you can change those easily.

BTW...

This car weighs more than 300lbs less than the 575M, despite increased dimensions. It shifts 50ms faster than the Enzo and F430, at 100ms. Apparently it also has a suspension with mercury in the shocks for a lot more adjustment and a big difference between its softest and hardest settings for comfort and speed. They use electric whatevers to make the mercury stiffen.

It has a BEAUTIFUL engine bay!

Well, looks like they got the best of the latest Ferraris which is cool.

Can't wait to see what kind of numbers this Ferrari will pull.

Was never a huge fan of any FR Ferrari's, but this one doesn't seem too bad.
I'll have to see the specs when they come out to make my final judgement on this one.

I'm liking its looks better and better - especially the dark metalic red version with the 'challenge stradale' style wheels - much better than those 'star of david' versions the others wear.

That's something I'm really starting to dislike.

It's nice, but sometimes, I don't want to see Carbon Fibre all around me.

I don't see everyone's infatuation with CF on the interior (or exterior, for that matter). I hope they have fun when they crash their cars and get CF splinters stuck all over them...

Because what!? Because they don't want to paint it, cover it with leather, carpet it, or put (insert shiney metal here, be it aluminum, stainless steel, chrome, etc) accents on it? All of which, IMHO, are nicer than CF.

Ferrari is Motorsport - CF is Motorsport - Ferrari's F1 programme is a very important part of their company image, using a lot of CF in their cars is a nod to their F1 heritage. Aluminium and stainless steel is hardly used in F1 these days, CF is. The interior still has plenty of leather and carpeting, why use plastic, rubber or wood or shiney metal for trim like everyone else does.

CF doesn't take too well to painting - why paint it anyway, you might as well just use plastic.

Carbon fiber is a symbol of being exotic. It's an extremely advanced and modern technology and, of course, extremely expensive. There's absolutely no reason to cover it as it is, like I said, a very exotic material.

Unfortunately, though, carbon fiber gives F1 cars legitimate performance gains. That's the last that we need in the Ferrari "boat" (comprably). It only looked good in the Enzo because it was slightly funtional. It isn't at all in this, as they just put it in for the sake of putting it in. And wood or leather swathed interior would look far better used in this than carbon fiber on everything. In addition, it's pretty useless to put carbon fiber on 8-way adjustable power seats.

Poverty
Doesnt carbon fibre making the overall weight alot lower even when used on trivial things like the seats?

Yes is does make the weight lower, but in a car like this its used because it makes Ferrari look like a forward thinking, modern, technically cutting edge company in a sea of increasingly retro compititors.

What's so functional about wood or metal trim???

Leather is only functional on interior items you are in contact with ie seats, steering wheel and gear nob/hand brake handle. As far as i can see the 599 already has leather covering these surfaces, why have it any where else?

What has wood got to do with Ferrari anyway - has there ever been a Ferrari that uses wood anywhere?

Wood can just about be used in a top-end luxury barge - its used in Bentleys and Rolls for that 'gentlemans club' vibe. Wood has no place in a flagship sports car.
