I'm pretty sure I've seen some of my contraptions do that...

Unless you can alter the dimension of time at will, I highly doubt that. Unless you are, of course, God :nervous:.

Can someone explain to me why the shape in the gif is impossible? The motion is being rotated, making it look complicated and would be pretty feasible with the right joints and edges that can stretch. Each square is essentially passing through the one infront of it. Where is this fourth dimension?

No no, it's not impossible. The tesseract is a three-dimensional representation of a four-dimensional object. The problem with this is it's impossible to render a 4D object in only three dimensions. The sides and joints don't stretch; they're always at right angles with each other.

It's a bit hard to explain, but Carl Sagan (YouTube video) might be able to explain this problem with interdimensional relationships a bit better than I can.

The top one looks like it's from a video game, although I can't figure out which one.

Hmm it's cool that it's a 3D model, still could pass for a video game shot though. Something along the lines of Age of Empires, Empire Earth, or Civilizations.

I can't be the only one that thinks that, while the Burj Dubai Tower is incredibly cool, it also supermegaüber pointless.

though I kind of see your point I really can't think of any specific reason it's pointless, sure it is ridiculously tall but what better way to fit lots of stuff in a small space...

it almost 1km high. lol I'm sure they will not have to use air conditioner on top floors.

I live near the desert, and we have air-conditioning everywhere - nevermind office buildings with little to no open windows, where a good air-conditioning system is crucial to keep things alive in there.

I'm just kidding ofcourse there is a hot place on earth. and as far as I know that even bus stops have air conditioner there.
I mean 1km altitude makes 5 degrees difference between ground zero.

Thing is, at these megascrapers, I'm not sure they're even allowed to have open windows. Here, at least, it's regulated that, for safety reasons, they're not allowed to have windows above a certain size, and below a certain height.
