The highest resolution image of our neighbouring spiral galaxy, M31, allows us to see individual stars in a galaxy 2.5 million million million kilometers away. Radio Kootwijk on the Veluwe. It's a building used in the first half of the 20th century for communication with the Dutch Indies. After that it was used for radio astronomy.

I know the picture has been shopped a bit too much but it shows the grim look of that concrete cathedral in the middle of nowhere.
