A stand of trees are swallowed in seconds by an underwater sinkhole caused by a collapsing salt mine in Louisiana.

This video isn't available on youtube yet as it only aired on 60 Minutes yesterday, but below is the link to the video on their official site.

It's about Turia Pitt, a participant in an ultra marathon across the outback in 2011 who got caught in a runaway bushfire and, well, horrifically injured. It's not an easy story to watch but her attitude in her recovery towards putting her life back together and moving on, and that of her partner really are inspirational.

This is not a 'cool' video, it's very confronting, but amazing in equal parts IMO:

Keep an eye on the top of the screen for the first 5 seconds...

The car would have been crushed if those first rocks hadn't pushed it a few feet to the left. :scared:

Japanese L0 Maglev Train 311mph!

I know this working model of Japanese bullet train dubbed "L0"(Zero kei), which is capable of covering a mileage at the rate of more than 500km an hour and going to be on installation in 2015 at the latest.

It's one of the reasons Japan for me is a place I want to live.
