I thought the new one didn't, just realised the change from previous versions was that they were front wheel drive... I don't know much about all the various 4 wheel drive systems, so I'm just going to guess that 1&2 are permanent 4 wheel drive whilst the Focus RS uses it as and when it is needed?

Nope, the other part of the rule has to do with the engine.
 
AWD cars with 2.0 Turbo Engines? (AFAIK the Focus has the 2.3 from the Mustang Ecoboost)
