Not tonight, but I'll do something before the event closes :D

In a nutshell though, I disagree about needing more power. The lack of power means you must wring it's neck (figuratively of course) and really perfect your own lines to extract the maximum performance out of it. It's the sort of car that really refines your racecraft! :sly:
Maybe your right, but I do come from a drag racing family, so we are all about HP.

Well, I do love me a bit of drag racing every now and again as much as the next bloke with hair on his chest, but here's a little line I like to remember.

Anyone can make 900bhp go fast. However it takes real skill to make 90bhp go fast.

How do you guys find the ROADSTER?

I think it's a very safe car almost boring, needs more hp
Yes but, cars like that mean finding an advantage is even more crucial.

I look at it like a short & simple track.
The guy on Pole in a tightly controlled class, has done a stellar job of extracting the maximum.
A Pole there by .001 to me is better than Pole on the Nordschleife by a full second.

Since I have a Youtube channel and I used to put up vids of the COTW races back in the day, why not do the same for the challenge hub! Here's my lap in the FT-1 at Midfield from the last no tune challenge! (First replay cam, then on board with display)

I've done a couple myself.
@skeagracing is the replay king
and @Racin510s loves them because help him. So I'm all for it as they help me to.👍

Seems am stuck at 1.33 low and when i try the team work when i manage a 1.06 high first lap , i skrew up the second one :irked:  :indiff: .
Am gonna leave for a while , to see if i come back in better form.
Many times it happens when i come back after 1-2 days in a event ,things goes better.
Different approach ? Fresh eye ? I don't know but it happens .
So time out from today .

Ps
From what i see i have problem in trail braking , can't manage steer and brake at the same time the right way.
If i brake early am loosing more time and to gain something on this one you must be very aggressive at least for the first 2 laps .

To get a good time in this race you need to get down and dirty. There’s no clean racing that will get you the times that you need to win. This is what I don’t like about these kinds of competitions.

I know what you mean my lovelymate , but even and at the clean laps im not getting any better .
I try a free runs 2 times just to test ABS and TC , end with TC zero and high bb balance and ABS 1 .
I have to " shoot " the car and that makes the driving more upset and errors folow.
Preparing to make a stand for my wheel and am sure that it will be better for me.
With DS3 seems an endless stop and go or stop , slide and go .
If you are not from the alien nation a wheel is a lot better for precise and smooth drive.
What am not able to do is to keep gas steady in low rpm in a turn , not to mention what mess happens when i try MT gears.
I can't imagine how hard is for @Racin510s from wheel to DS3 .

You are 100% correct as @Racin510s is in the same boat as you. I have a wheel so my best advice is for you to start a conversation with him and see how he is doing as when I talked to him he was having the same problem. I did my 5 laps and I am done.

I was taking to @Racin510s about this today and yes we both hate to use cars as walls. I have decided that I will run any race one time and win or not that will be it. If I keep on running the same race I start to do some stupid things and in the real world of racing will most assuredly get you killed. FYI @Racin510s is on an assignment for the next few weeks and will not be available @bjl23.

@lfm58, you have slaughtered G60. Way to go. Also understand the health issues as I have many myself. Glad to be a Vietnam Vet and mostly free healthcare. I pray that you do not have any more issues. It is good to have you back.

@smoothbore12, I feel your pain mate. I ran 30 laps in free, invest close to 10 hours of my time on this event. Going from a wheel to a DS3 is very frustrating, especially since I am not coordinated enough to run manual trans. I am used to the sequential shifter of the DFGT plus the smoothness of the steering. I can't get the automatic to downshift to 3rd gear in the last corner and that is where I lose my time. Like @Lilium spoke I don't like to bounce off of the AI or take to the grass to get a good time. I could run a 1:06 lap on a clean track but this event is all about the way you catch the AI. You mention keep your gas steady, I use the right joystick for gas my brain connects it. I can't use the left for steering though.
I am with Noel, run 5 laps. If you want to run more that is an option I guess. For me by best times come from 2 laps. The more I run the worse I get. I tried extremely hard in this event for @fordlaser, but there just came a point I had to stop.👍👍👍

Thank you @fordlaser for those awesome laps. Keeping Red Team in the running. I simply can't improve my time by trashing AI cars. I am not saying that you are doing that just simply I can't post a lap that is not clean and the battle to get through the AI cleanly hurts my time. I have run 1:06 laps just can't seem to not on lap 3 and 4 as I run into traffic.:cheers:👍👍👍

@Nismonath5, Thank you mate for your comment:tup:. I assume you are a road racer. I'm not knocking drag racing since that's what I did as a teenager. I also appreciate the replay of the FT-1. 👍

Well yeah, circuit racer. I got experience in dirt track and gymkhana as well, but the majority of it's been on sealed circuits.

@Nismonath5 very cool mate. :tup:Both @skeagracing and I raced in a USA series called the SCCA. I raced Datsun 510s in the ametuer series and @skeagracing was Pro series, sponsered by Lotus, Porsche and Mercedes. That's why we like a clean lap as you know in racing school, driving etiquette is one of the things you are taught. In the SCCA you had to be very careful or the stewards would call you for rough driving or you'd tear up your car. I'm appreciative of your input on replays and I'm sure he is too. We can all learn from each other. I have always been show me and I'll nail it.

Awesome, well I haven't done racing school or anything, I was taught by my Dad through childhood. Drove a P10 Primera around Pukekohe Park Raceway in manual at age 9, and things sort of went from there. Now I'm looking for a class in NZ to enter, but in the meantime the 24 hours of Lemons is our place to go for bang-for-buck motorsports!

Me, after a gruelling last two hours of racing and bringing the car home at the 2018 24hr Lemons.

Oh, and Gran Turismo of course.

I have the greatest respect for both @skeagracing & you @Racin510s for your time in the SCCA. It's one thing to fire up the PS3 & have a go on whatever simulator that's plugged in but, another thing altogether to do it in 3D with no reset & bills to pay if you get it wrong.

I've been meaning to tell you @Racin510s my Datsun 1600 (510) was the same color as the one in your avatar & that my first motorsport event was in a 1600 at age 16. An Autocross on a dirt surface that was a bit like a rally stage that lasted about 90 seconds. We (me & the car owner) got about 5 or 6 runs on the day & strangely enough, after being faster than him, I didn't get the opportunity again

@Racin510s, while on the ps3, I have a DF pro, on the ps4 or even Grid autosport on the ps3 I use the Dualshock, and to git gud with the throttle and manual transmission, I use the R2/L2 for throttle/Braking, and X for shifting Up, and [] for Shifting Down. its the way I got used to be albe to race quite well and do it all.
The throttle modulation isn't the same as with a wheel, but it works well after a bit.

And a shout out to you all for racing for real. the most I got of that was going to a go-kart track a couple of times with friends. Did quite well always getting in the top times of the months, but with married life and starting adult life, can't save much money to invest on my dream hobby

@Pete05 that is awesome mate. They call that color Sicilian Olive. What year was yours? Mine in the Avatar is a 69 one year only model. They came to the US in 68 and it wa one year only model as well. The difference was the 68 had a thin marker light on the front and none on the rear, the 69 had from and rear. My race car was a 71 2 door, we did discover that the 4 door made a better race car. We had a prototype but never got to run it because the leader of our race team had to have a lung removed and could not be in the shop.
This interesting that you ran an autocross on dirt. I would have really liked that. All of our Autocrosses were on pavement. That's bad you didn't get to run again. I appreciate your kind words. I really like my 08 Suzuki SX4 AWD Touring Edition another one year only. But I'll never lose my love for the 510. It was the best car ever made.👍
