The Classic Rock ThreadMusic

HOW BLACK WAS OUR SABBATH?!

Very. Though the years active with Ozzy were classic it's hard to even put them in "rock". Read somewhere they're releasing an album "13" after however many years, this summer. Has anyone seen them live recently? Have they still got it?!

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Boston yet - they're one of the best groups to ever play, I think. Tom Scholz 's technical mastery and Brad Delp's voice just combine for something great.

Some of these guys have already been mentioned, but some other really good bands that I like are ZZ Top, The Cars, BTO, CCR, Foreigner, Dire Straits, ELO, Aerosmith, John Mellencamp, RTZ, The Travelling Wilburys, Huey Lewis & The News, Tom Petty, Eddie Money, Asia, The Beatles, and Bob Seger.

There are probably more, but those are the ones that come to mind at the moment.

I love Boston.

Me too! I have "Don't Look Back" on vinyl, near mint shape. :) That's probably my favorite album by them. If you look close, the UFO's on "Boston" and "Don't Look Back" are actually guitars. Nobody ever seems to notice that lol. :sly:

Funny I saw this thread. Right at this moment I'm enjoying me some of this. 👍

Triumph - a band which never got the notoriety it really deserved.

How about some April Wine? A very fine but underrated Canadian group which I'm fond of. To bad they never really hit it big.

Well, they're known around here, but definitely underrated elsewhere in the world. At least they get regular airplay on both the rock stations in town that I listen to. Totally one of my favorite bands. I have "First Glance" and "Harder Faster" on vinyl, and "The Hits" on CD, - original print I think, lol. :)

I should really get around to buying more of them, I just got so many albums to buy.

EDIT: Talking about underrated Canadian bands...

God, what a classic! 👍

Bands I like from that era include Van Halen, Duran Duran, The Police, the Thompson Twins and surely a few I'm leaving out.

However those are the more recent items in my collection, which is mostly 1960's with a fair amount of 1950's and 1970's. The Doors, Steppenwolf, Jimi Hendrix, the Beach Boys... now that is classic rock!

Just expressing my thoughts here, not trying to start a war.

Yeah, Long live 60s and 70s classic rock
I personally like Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, and the Moody Blues the most!

Any Fleetwood Mac fans? Rumors is my favorite album, ever.
Just watched a FANTASTIC performance by them on TV.

And this is my favorite solo of all time. No pick required.

Have an opportunity to go see them later this month, should I take it?

"Radar Love" by Golden Earring is one of my favourite songs to listen to while playing GT 5 (or any racing game for that matter) :D

Definitely one of the best songs by the Hollies! 👍

Think I'm gonna give my Hollies albums a bit more play time today.

I love "classic rock" (of which I'd argue Metallica/Megadeth/Pantera/Overkill/etc are not). Metallica's Load and Reload albums may one day be classic rock, because they fit the pop/R&B/Rock genre more than their true thrash metal albums.
Anyway, I didn't even come here to say that lol. I actually enjoy classic rock's B-list bands more than say, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Rush, The Doors, and so on.
I prefer:
Black Widow

Rainbow

Pot Liquor
