The complaint I sent to Slightly Mad Studios...

Sorry but that is just simply offensive and borders on racism.

Do you know what racism is? What Imari did is called 'constructive criticism', show me where anything he's said "borders on racism".

In this crazy PC world we live in today people will brandish the race/racism card at absolutely anything!

Will fall on deaf ears.. Been developed with the help of professional racing drivers and i bet they are happy with their creation.
But be nice to hear if you get a reply and would love them to change a few things myself.
Good luck chum.

The handling has already been fixed by the modders, if you take a look at nogrip download section there are already 11 mods available, of course you need PC version. Console needs a fix by the original developers (obviously).

Anyway I apreciate the letter idea, we could write another one to Poliphony.

Now, THAT, gentlemen, is how to troll properly.

Although I was actually being serious there. There are many people setting seriously sharp times on my Autolog (PS3). Explain how they do that if the game really is "undriveable"?

iRacing is fantastic, their Mx-5 model car is nigh on perfect. Dale Jr is the main big name driver who backs iRacing but he has nothing to do with GT5, Jeff Gordon is the guy in GT5. There are a lot of real series (small and big) drivers driving in iRacing and if you have not tried it then you have not seen sim racing at its finest, it is not expensive to start up.

I agree with a lot of the points the OP made and for me Shift 2 had to be shelved for various reasons. The english in the post isn't the best and the posts criticising it are not racist. I do know a few Finnish people and one.. how should i put it.. on a close day to day basis, and most of them can write in english just as good (or better) than anyone from Britain.

But for some reason it seems that on this subforum alone dozens of people are perfectly able to drive the cars in this game so it must be user error.

Also: fixed your post for you. đź‘Ť

User error....i thought assists were supposed to help?? I can't help it, if the car keeps diving into a slide on every corner. Also, you fixed it wrong, i would've put that in, as that is what i am refering to, but you see, i have been knocked in the head really hard lately.

You know, i really want to know that, maybe from endless hours on it. All i know is, i want there secret.

You just learn how to slide in the corner real fast.I've done it numerous times on tracks and thought holy cow!that was fast. The only problem is i'm not consistent with it.

This is how the real fast drivers get those crazy laptimes.

@RattijuoppoFIN: I believe your email was pretty good. You hit the most important point of the input lag being a problem. I have personally been able to dial in my DFGT on my PS3 to a point now that I am able to drive much better, but the lag is still there.

To everyone else wondering, iRacing does have an amazing physics engine and if your computer is good the graphics are pretty nice too, but it costs to use the game and that cost gets fairly steep the more you want to access content in game if you are a casual sim driver. I would recommend trying it out though even if just for a month.

To the thread starter: Since you mentioned the DS3, I would really like to know if the button controls can be individually mapped? That (along with the overly exaggerated physics) were my main compliants with Shift 1.

Yep, they can đź‘Ť I love to go old-school and use the face buttons and d-pad when I use the DS3

Wheel user mainly though, DF-EX

That is great to know, now I won't be in so much pain when I play the game đź‘Ť

GT1 cars don´t slide in corners.

Oh, I bet if they were driven by your average video game racing enthusiast, with no sense of G-forces in the corners, little familiarity with the track, no fear of death, and using a game controller, they'd slide a hell of a lot. :sly:

How on earth is that trolling? SMS had nothing to do with NFS Pro Street so why would they or have yet to fix it?

Have u even played Pro Street? That game feels exactly like shift 1,2,
It feels like the physics or game engine/controls are just dumped from these early nfs "simulators". They haven´t done anything to fix the overdone oversteer present in these games.

How are people saying this is well written? It may be accurate, but the wealth of spelling and grammatical errors would make me loath to read through the whole thing if I were working at SMS and looking for feedback. If a poster cannot be bothered to take the time to put his post through a spellchecker, it doesn't bode well for how much time he took to form the opinions expressed in that post, native English speaker or not.

Good on you for trying, but I doubt you'll get much in the way of a response to a letter that appears to have been written by a child. Fix the errors and resend it, and you might be in with a shot. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just trying to give your opinion the best chance of making it to the developers where your concerns might be heard.

I´m real sorry that If I prefer Finnish language in my own country and dont have years of English studies behind me to write something that can be referred to a driving novel. After that post I had an real urge to get that email checked by my dear fellow gal who works at Helsinki university and teaches English and Russian.

Note that she found many statements in your post that could be re written to get an better feel of an intelligent post.

I can see where it could be offensive (comparing the spelling and grammar to that of a child), but I fail to see where it's borderline racist. :odd:

Anyway, this sounds a lot like a complaint thread. We've had plenty already. Just saying.

I agree. I have to say that I´m fairly disappointed by the welcome this thread has gained. It´s not a trollers thread nor a complaint thread.
Its purely focussed on the complaint I made and maybe some suggestions to make the game better. Not only to complaint me of my spelling or praising that EA are gods and yada yada....

I only focussed this thread to make an opinion about the cars not feeling equal to their real world counterparts. Lets stick to that.
And to make abundantly clear I have only occasionally tested the 911 since Im not old and experienced enough to go tour with the team driving it.
Nor do I have the budget to do so. :grumpy:

Still regular driver or not I do have a crystal clear idea of how that car handles :sly: and sincerely I can say that it don´t slide like a tail happy puppy dog chasing its tail in every corner. With full downforce. In a downhill. With slicks.
:dopey:

Yes they can be individually mapped.
