I do not believe I ever posted a video where people would be able to see this.

I know GT3 'died' along time ago when GT4 came out. But here you go.

Lightning - Complex String - F094/S - 3'00.407

Lightning - Complex String - F094/S - 3'00.407 - With "Moon Over The Castle"

The speed indicators are not in the video because that was what I asked, because it's from inside the car view and I wanted to show cleanliness of the run.

Enjoy.

(I could've knocked 1.5 to 2.0 seconds off this run, but I was happy with it. I did this run over a year and a half ago.)

It was hard for me to watch. I'm away from home right now (where all my games & PS2 are) and that video was like a teaser! Now I want to do some racing but I aint got my equipment.

I somehow ran a better time in a F687/S and that is the F1 that I run my best times in. (2'59.971) I saved the replay on the memory card, and got all 6 F1's. I will get a pic when I could for proof. I can't get better times with the F686/M for some reason.

The F686/S is a car that does not exist.

Two things.

The only F686 was the F686/M, and it does not handle as well as the F094/S and it is not capable of a time like that. (That is without cutting corners, jumping the last chicane, or being a hybrid - so you did not get that time legally.)

Anyone who is anyone on GT3 will tell you the F094/S is the only NTSC car capable of such a time. (The PAL equivalent is the Polyphony 001)

And my time of 3'00.407 is a legal time and can be verified by it's SharkPort replay on this site. Hold a second and I'll give you a link.

Lightning - Complex String - F094/S - 3'00.407 - SharkPort Replay

Sorry buddy, if you think you can get away with that on this site, the community exposes things what you just claimed right away.

We know what cars can do what, and the F686/M (there is no S) cannot do a low 3 minute time let alone under 3 minutes cleanly.

(Now I've seen you change that to the F687/S - but still that car cannot do that time.)

And even though the /M has 973 HP compared to the F094/S 829 HP - the F094/S accelerates better than the /M as well. The only advantage the /M has is the fact it has higher top speed. (Same goes for the 687/S)

A 'picture' is not good enough for such proof when it comes to the online community.

And the reason why is because if you didn't know this Tuner, everyone knows about hybrids and they are illegal when it comes to 'records' and such.

And if you built a hybrid, use that same tool on my replay and you will see that mine is not one. It's a legal, original F094/S.

(That is why I do not care for the fact the video does not show speed there Tuner, because I have the SharkPort replay which can have it verified 100%)

To give you an idea how 'well' I know the F1s tuner....

Up until like 2 days ago, I had the GVS WR with a 1'15.474 when another fast guy (on a controller) did a 1'15.406 lap. (Although I still hold #1 and #2 for the MR drivetrain.)

But.....

There are not many (only a handful) of people who have ever gotten under 1'17 and very few under 1'18.

I got a 1'17.341 at GVS in the F687/S

And how well do I know the /M?

These are the 5 top F1 times at Midfield from GT3.GTTIMES.COM, and by the way, all 5 are legal times. I've seen bip p and fist_of_rage's runs, 3rdgenracerX I know is legit, and of course I am. So these times are all legal.

5 Lightning 1986 F686/M F1 Car 973 MT SP 2/1/05 2:51 PM Logitech GT Force 0:49.024

Even at Midfield, the F686/M did not beat the F094/S.

And here are the F686/M times that are in the top 100.

5 Lightning 1986 F686/M F1 Car 973 MT SP 2/1/05 2:51 PM Logitech GT Force 0:49.024
8 3rdgenracerX 1986 F686/M F1 Car 973 AT SP 5/4/04 1:52 AM Dual Shock 2 0:49.144

95 Sough 1986 F686/M F1 Car 973 AT SP 1/25/03 12:33 AM Dual Shock 2 0:51.543

Notice, same result for the guy who has 2nd at Midfield. In the F686/M he is only a little behind me as well.

Tried and true Tuner, F094/S beats the F686/M hands down. (And the 687/S - I do not want to think if I have 1.9 seconds on it at GVS - it would probably be like 5-6 seconds behind at Complex if I'd have run it.)

Order of NTSC F1's from best to worst.

1: F094/S (PAL equiv - Polyphony 001)
2: F686/M - Has more top end HP (973), higher top speed, decent handling
3: F687/S - The real surprise, has only 1.25 rear downforce. And 929 HP (If it had 1.50 rear downforce, it WOULD beat the 94/S)
4: F094/H - Yes, this is a surprise here, but that is true. The /H
suffers from having the same HP as the F094/S, but does not handle as well. (Although it's barely quicker in a straight line). The /H's real problem is that it cannot take corners ANYWHERE near the 94/S.
5: F688/S (PAL equiv - Polyphony 002)
6: F090/S

Lightning, excellent job! :)👍 I don't usually post inthe GT3 section, but when I saw this, I was like !

How many hours did this take you? I'm sure it's in the dozens...

Would've been even better if you could've cracked the 3 minute mark, but still amazing.

I won the poly 001 at the last endure :D , that race you can win with a fast road car, i did it with a 1000 hp skyline R34 GT-R ofcourse, took about an hour to complete the hundred laps:dunce:

You did a hundred laps in 1 hour?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

You did a hundred laps in 1 hour?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

yep it's on that small oval (speedway something forgot the name) and with a 1000 hp, you just fly around it.
hope that explains it :D

and I must agree the complex string is a very nice track :D

I did do a time like that in the F687/S. I got it in Red with a black wing and front bumper. I edited most of my settings to out-handle my F094/H. It took a while to tune though. When I get a camera, I will send the pic to prove this...

And no, I didnt skip across the grass on the chicane or skip through ANY dirt. I do admit I did have 2 tires on the dirt a few times, but that was all at the end of the turn where a went a bit TOO fast.....

Don't bother with the picture. It proves nothing. Do you still have the replay? Do you have a max drive, or can you post your memory card to someone that does?

The replay file itself is the only thing that can prove you did the time legally. All other methods, videos, pictures, will not be accepted.

Yeah, but it may take me a while to get a camcorder or something to record the replay. Does my time count even if 2 wheels went on the dirt since I went slightly too fast on a few turns?

Hell I remember when you had a 3:07 lap back in the day I got something like a 3:17 AT BEST and I was like WTF! Then I remembered, oh ya its Lightning...that fast M*F* lolz. Sorry dude I doubt ur faster than him, but I may have my chance at you yet at Bobkarts if you can still make it 👍 💡

Yeah, funny thing is I did a time a LONG time ago in the F094/H which is a 3'07. I never bothered to improve it, so that is what it stands at.

I've got like an old 3'06 in the F686/M as well. :sly:

I do not believe I ever ran the F687/S, but I know it would not outrun the F094/S, that's for sure.

A LONG ARSE time ago I ran the the F090/S at CS and came up with a 3'12.xxx lap.

I do not think I ever seriously tried the F688/S - in fact in all of my GT3 career I do not think I ever ran that car seriously at anything. (It was a pile of trash.)

If TuneRVisioN had claimed doing his time in the F094/S I would be like - "Okay, just post the replay...." but the guy is claiming this in the F687/S which I know cannot do that time.

Thanks.

In that particular 'session', it took me about an hour (I cannot remember). But if you count all my sessions that I have ever done at Complex String in the F094/S with the wheel? I would believe that it would be ~24 hours or so total.

And I wish I would've cracked the 3 minute barrier myself. :(

I cannot count how many 3'01.xxx and 3'02.xxx laps I did with a handful of 3'00.xxx laps before I squeaked out that lap.

(Funny thing is, in total with the wheel the reverse track, Complex String II - a total of 50 laps in ALL cars combined. I hate the reverse version. :dunce: That's why my WR at CSII is only a 3'03.9! )

Fantaman
and I must agree the complex string is a very nice track

It was the best track by far in GT3. 👍

It needs to be that actual REPLAY FILE ITSELF, not a video or photo. People need to take it apart and make sure it was not done with a hybrid.

Besides that, I'm calling bunk that you saved the replay and were awarded all six F1 cars just for running CS (since no races are run there).

A "hybrid" in GT1-GT3 is when you take for example the engine of another car and put it into another car's body. One example is putting a 787B's engine in a Mini Cooper. You can do all kinds of stuff with hybrids, and some are quite funny.Famine and daan did a project called the GTGenome project that in on case maade a Civic bounce with ginourmous wheels.

I have some opinions about things that have observed as of late, and I have some feelings (especially about how this guy obtained this time) that there maybe in fact some people out there using a cheating device to modify the clock timing on the PS2.

*IF* and only *IF* there are people out there that have done this, I want to say this. Do not use this tactic, because I know of a way to catch you if you are. :dunce:

And it's as simple as speed in certain sections versus angle of car, versus steering input.

There are portions of the game at the speeds you are traveling at where the car will become unstable. I noticed this in my 2 weeks of playing last year. To obtain some of the times I did, I had to work in some sections because of this instability at speed.

I have been weary of certain things that I have observed myself, and references from the past that I remember about 'steering input' on an observed replay etc.....

It has become clear to me that it is entirely possible that some drivers out there *MAY* use a device such as this.

And I'm stating this because *if* anyone does use one, when I get back to playing I will catch you.

That's stating only *if* - like to this guy TunerVision that happens to claiming this time in an F687/S. This is an obvious one.

All I can say to you if you use one is this. Myself, and many other fast racers throughout the OLR community do not use one.

If you do use one, you can eat the fact that we do not.

There is a time out there that has been run in the past that I am suspect of. I will not even say GT4 or GT3 or who that person was. All I can say is this, if that person thinks they fooled me, they did not. I know the time was done with a timing modification to the PS2. I know it because of how the car handled. It's that simple.

What sort of file is a replay file? How is a video made of it? Can it be exported from the ps2 like a photo file in GT4 or something like that? Why all the hubub about the authenticity? and what real proof is there that the original file in the thread is authentic for that matter? and lastly, does it help you get better dates? Am I asking too many questions and being too sarcastic? What really matters in life? What's the terminal velocity of an unladen sparrow?

What sort of file is a replay file?
The file saved onto the PS2 memory card when you save the replay.

How is a video made of it?
There is a link in my sig, but a video is not acceptable proof as has already been stated.

Can it be exported from the ps2 like a photo file in GT4 or something like that?
The replay file can be exported from the PS2 to a PC using an Xport/Sharkport or a MaxDrive. It is not transferred as a video, but as a series of instructions. That file can be used by someone else and put on their own PS2 for checking.

Why all the hubub about the authenticity?
Lightning holds the fastest proven time at Complex String. TuneRvision claims to have beaten him. But that is all it is, a claim.

and what real proof is there that the original file in the thread is authentic for that matter?
Lightning has posted his replay file in this thread. I haven't checked it, but I'm sure someone has. Lighning is also known as legitimate.

and lastly, does it help you get better dates?
No

Am I asking too many questions and being too sarcastic?
Considering your last question was labelled "lastly", yes you are.

What really matters in life?
To have a good time and to not cheat at anything.

What's the terminal velocity of an unladen sparrow?
African or European?

Yes, I know that should be a swallow, but I couldn't resist.
