The only thing I see coming close in terms of performance is the GT-R, but it is only a Nissan. And my grandma drives a Nissan...

I would assume, since it's a "race car without limits" that the dominate car on the leaderboards will be the X-1 Prototype. My dominate car will be the Tesla, Dodge Challenger, Spyker and a few others.

If the McLaren F1 (road car) can go off-road, then it would be dominant. I hope that it's not useless on dirt, with massive power and long wheelbase. Reminds me of a Dodge Viper...

Many choose the GTR. I think it all depends on what level you use to race.
On the expert level, the tyre damage will hurt the AWD cars, so I can't see them being dominant. That X1 may also only be available towards the end of completing GT Life Mode. I think your Covettes, Toyotas, Ferrari's and Nissans will be dominant.

Well I don't think it's right to speculate what car is dominate considering the modification/tuning aspect of the game.

The dominant cars will be the cars easiest to drive the fastest, so here is my list for easiest/hardest cars to drive from the "main" companies :P
Cars in red might not be in the game :(

Ferrari
Easiest: F430/458 Italia
Hardest: Enzo (just and angry car all around)/F50/F1 2007

Lamborghini
Easiest: LP560-4 (got to love the 4 wheel drive)
Hardest: LP640-4/LP640 RGT (Hopefully they have it)

Audi
Easiest: R8 road
Hardest: R10 race car

Zonda
coolest looking car on earth just hard as hell to drive :nervous:

TVR
they will ALL try to kill you

BMW
Easiest: E46 M3
Hardest: E60 M5 (500 hp with a 4200lbs + car is like driving a container ship around the ring = crashing)

Mercedes
Easiest: SLK 55 AMG
Hardest: C63 AMG (just......an axe murder with headlights)/SLR/CLK-GTR (hopefully)

McLaren
idk- could go both ways

Koenigsegg (I PRAY TO GOD THEY ARE IN)
the meanest, angriest, most violent, demonic car a person can buy, this WILL kill you!

Chevrolet
Easiest: Camaro
Hardest: Corvette ZR1 (a 620hp car built by americans = crashing and burning)

Dodge
Easiest: Dodge SRT-4
Hardest: Viper GTS (a 400hp car built by americans = crashing)

Louts
Easiest: Elise
Hardest: Never really a "hard" car to drive but I would say the Esprit

Nissan

Hardest: 300Z

Honda
Easiest: S2000

Alfa Romeo
Easiest: Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI (This is by FAR my favorite car in GT4 i won every race with it  (If its in GT5 god help me)
Hardest: C8 Competizione

Aston Martian
Easies: DB9
Hardest: Vanquish (never a fun car to drive)/DB9 race car

Shelby
The Cobra needs no explanation

Lexus
Easiest: LF-A
Hardest: LF-A (something just tells me it will kill you if you go a "bit" beyond the limit)

Toyota
Easiest: MR-1
Hardest: Toyota GT1 (this was the definition of terror in GT3 and GT4)

Maserati
idk how they will be probably fun with some danger involved

Bugatti
Just make sure nothing for a mile in front of you when you accelerate and your good to go, if not.............it will kill

Looking at the cover in the recent photos, I am surprised the Bugatti Veyron hasn't featured more as one of the flagship cars of Gran Turismo 5 (Ok, it was in GTPSP, but this will be its first appearance in GT5 on the PS3).

PD have been promoting the game with videos of their fantasy car Project X1, but i think videos of the veyron would have been more appealing and appropriate.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a nice car, but I would have liked the veyron to have been more prominent-maybe sharing the cover with the AMG and one of the Ferraris.

I just watched Top Gear with the Veyron race against the plane, so I guess this is what sparked my query!
:)

Ferrari FXX (should be in GT5).
F2007, Redbull X1 prototype.
Peugeot 908 HDI FAP '10.
Toyota GT-One.
Audi R10 TDI ,or R15 TDI (if it is in GT5).
Zonda R, plus other vehicles.

You know what's better than the FXX, the 599XX. Apparently, it can put up better lap times than the FXX. And it looks so freakin good. Also, I would really really like to see the 599 GTO and the MC12.

FXX is still my favourite racer. :)

Yes and no. If you're looking at stock to stock then yes you're right. However, I think many people are taking into account that in some form or another they're going to modify the machine. I find the Viper GTS as a dominant car, but that's also taking into account that it will have nearly 1000bhp, all weight reductions and my preference in transmission ratios and suspension setup. I suppose most people are looking at it as a projection from there own preferences?

I hope to.

For me the more restrictions the better. In GT4, there were very few restrictions, and you could bring a race car with 500HP to a 200 HP race.. that was too lame and too easy.

Why would you bring a 500hp car to a 200hp race? just because the game lets you doesn't mean you have to do it. I would like to think that most of us hardcores choose cars that hang nicely with the competition. With that said, I don't want to feel limited, I don't need PP points to restrict me, I restrict myself and if I want to take a more powerful car into a race that I've already beaten several times with cars/a car in that class several times before I should be able to. GT is also about grinding, trying to raise $$$$ to get that next big car purchase. We don't need PP points. Prologue has PP points because there is no tuning. There will however be restrictions online just like in Prologue and there should be, but not in campaign.

Prologue had tuning....
