It's a lot like Soundwave Festival here in Australia. It's about $180 a ticket this year if I remember correctly, and if you're only going to see like 4 bands it sounds steep, but there's close to 90 different bands of varying popularity and "legendary-ness" that go each year so there's an absolute shedload of variety.
Tell me about it! I'm only going for one band (because it's a once in a life time chance). The last few years Soundwave has catered too much towards metalheads, this year it has got a little better with a few more punk and alternative rock bands. The venue is great though (in Adelaide at least, I've heard many complaints from other states) and the atmosphere is a lot better than other Australian music festivals. I wish they would stop putting it on at the same time as the Clipsal 500 though!

This, definitely this.

But yeah Soundwave's a pretty top day out. I've only been twice before in 2011 and 2012 (both at Bonython in Adelaide) but it was thoroughly enjoyable both years. This year looks to be one of the most diverse lineups yet in my opinion, should make for a cracking show once again.

Yeah, went with the girlfriend and we were sat upstairs. Were you downstairs?
That I was, if you saw a guy go full speed into the wall of death only to drag himself to the side after, that was me. Also had a lass on my shoulders. :embarrassed:

I went to Download in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007... Haven't been back since, it was always an awesome time but back then it wasn't a long ass walk from the campsite to the stages, they had all the stages within the racetrack so it was easy to just go back to the tent and then back over.

Have thought about going again a few times but money is too tight. Definitely worth going if you've never been though, there's a great party atmosphere all weekend, we used to go down on the Wednesday (when the campsites opened) and then party through till Monday.

Trouble is saying tall, long hair and bearded doesn't narrow it down in that crowd.

No, not really. ;)

I'm cheating in a sense. Staying in a hotel, 15 mins from Donington. But it's cost me £37 for the 3 nights.

It's time for Def Leppard to work things out with the old label and do some 180 gram remasters and out their catalog on services such as Spotify. Their remakes don't quite cut it despite all of the effort they put into doing them. The closest I will get to seeing them would be on Mirrorball.

In the mean time, I just obtained Hysteria in VG condition, can't wait for my new table to get here later today!

Did anyone end up going to Download this year?

I was there and I was so impressed with everything. All the bands I saw except Fall Out Boy were incredible!
