I'm still pretty new to drag racing, and I've been using mostly my Audi Le Mans quattro that launches in 1st gear, and I would like to branch out to either my enzo or speed 12. Quick noob question: What are the major changes if you plan to launch in second or third gear i.e. do I set the unused gears very long/short?, and I just shift to the gear before I launch right?
An advantage is that the high gears can be set closer than the low gears, because of the position/size of the by PD settled single gear ranges, therefore accel (not launch) should profitate from it through using more gears or using them more.
The disadvantage is a slightly worse launch with many cars, caused through the increased tendence to bog or stall.

The best choice is depending on the car.

- Doesn't matter how you set the unused gears, you won't use them anyway.
- Correct, you shift before you launch. In speedtest mode you have about 5sec time to do so.
-------
Powerband/shiftpoint you said your going to be making that tutorial for a long time now.
True, it's still in progress. :)

Maybe, let me think about it.

__________
First, you may already have noticed it, the v3 is out.
----
Secondly, I would like to know what cars you'd like to see in the coming analysis part.
If you can't imagine what I mean with it, it's simply a step by step tuning of a car with analysing all changes a step made.
At the end, the tunes will be at the same level as other basic tunes. (So don't worry, I won't ruin the tuning of those cars ;) )

I will only do that for 3000m and 1/4mile.

3000m
- Enzo? (RWD)
- GTR 09? (AWD)
- ? (FWD)

1/4mile
- ? (RWD)
- ? (AWD)
- Civic (which one?)? (FWD)

The ? simply means that I currently don't know which car I should use.

I'd say to use the tier 2 cars or lower. Not the most popularly dragged cars.
An example would be; instead of using the GTR Spec V '09, to use the R34. Same with the Viper, instead of using the ACR maybe go for the GTS, or any other Viper for that matter. This is in the 1/4 btw.

3000m I have no knowledge off, so I'll leave it to others to give their opinion on it.

Cheers.

Sweet guide man I have improved my times quite a bit. I PM you asking if I can post this guide else where and am not sure if you got it, but either way would that be ok with you? I will still list you as the author.

What if I do changes?

How do you guys get consistent times? I'll use a car on auto and full throttle launches and still be jumping all over the place.. it gets confusing and I end up not knowing what to fix on the tune... Any suggestions?

It depends on when you go on throttle. Best way to have consistent runs (not the fastest though) is to go on throttle while you see the black screen.

It's so disappointing that people just want tunes and do not read masterpieces like this and learn the background information and what-not.

Just re-reading over this has really made me appreciate the effort you've put into this.

Respect 👍

? I hope you're not refering to me... Don't think i've ever asked for a tune, and yes i've been going by this for my first couple of tunes...

Yes I use manual usually but I was trying to tune the suspension but it wasn't consistent enough. Back to manual then. 👍

You need to be holding down full throttle before the race screen appears in automatic trans. You'll be stringing identical times that way, may not be the best times the tune is capable of but deadly consistent.
