My garage would have...

1. 1998 Toyota Starlet SR

Toyota Starlet SR.jpg

You're probably wondering why I'd drive a 16 year old Toyota hatch as a daily. Well, Starlet SRs are fairly rare these days (just over 300 left on UK roads), and they're worth a pretty penny - although by no means expensive. I like the way my 5-door drives, so having a better looking 3-door with the standard lowered springs and backbox would be perfect for me.

2. 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II

Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II.jpg

Cliched? Probably, but this thing has been my favourite car since GT2, and it would be perfectly usable as a fun daily too (provided its relatively sane). Mine would be relatively stock, aside from some wheels, suspension and some minor turbo supporting mods.

3. 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII FQ-260

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII FQ-260.jpg

Essentially the same as a U.S. spec Evo VIII, the FQ-260 had less power and a small wing compared to most UK market Evo VIIIs. The idea was that it made it cheaper to both buy, insure, run and tax - not too many people were keen on that, so they've since become pretty rare as nobody wanted one. This would be my daily for when the weather was too extreme (heavy rain or snow) or fancied barreling down some muddy lanes. Only mods would be some kind of exhaust system and a new head unit (stock ones are garbage).

4. 1999 Subaru Impreza WRX STi (Version VI)

Subaru Impreza WRX STi (Version VI).jpg

And yes, it would be in Cashmere Yellow too. My dad was one of the first people on the list to get one grey imported back when they were new. The importer went bust though, so he had to only make do with a regular UK-market Impreza Turbo. Ever since he said we were getting one, I've wanted one for myself, even today. I'd keep this one standard (if such a thing exists anymore).

5. 1998 Toyota Starlet Glanza V

Toyota Starlet Glanza V.jpg

Yes, it's another Starlet. Yes, I know there are better, faster and more modern hot hatchbacks than these. Yes, I know I'm obsessed with these damn things. I'd have one of these as my long-term project. Again, weird choice of vehicle, but its what I'd have in all honesty.

6. 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport

Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport.jpg

Much like the Subaru, this is something that's stuck with me as being a cool car, even if they apparently a bit outdated when they were new. I can look past all that just because of those stripes, the colour, the wheels, the red seats... basically, the looks are what makes this car awesome - albeit in the most chintzy, mid 90s way possible.

7. 1974 Ford Escort RS2000

Ford Escort RS2000.jpg

This would either be my restoration project or classic rally car. Its just always appealed to me for whatever reason, and as I've grown up, I've learnt to fully appreciate everything about it - the Coke-bottle lines, its rally pedigree, its potential for modifications, being able to cope with any form of motorsport and so on.

8. 2000 Mini Cooper Sport 500

Rover Mini Cooper Sport 500.jpg

Mini purists would probably kill me for this, but I find the last Rover-designed models to be the best out of all of them. They're still plainly classic Minis in every sense, but touched up with modern design elements which - let's be honest - most owners add on anyway. I chose the 500 special edition based solely on rarity. These were the last 500 classic Minis sold to customers before BMW took full charge and started building the new Mini instead.

9. 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R

Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R.jpg

Another car I idolised during my childhood, just because the idea of a big, aggressive muscle car having a huge spoiler appealed to me for some reason. Obviously now, I can see it is way more than that. Great car that I wouldn't mind racing around in on a track somewhere. Also my personal favourite generation of the Mustang - which is something I doubt many people would agree with, but hey!

Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid (ZVW35)

2012_Toyota_Prius_plug-in_hyrid_--_07-14-2012.JPG

After a ten hour journey across northern Europe in a second generation Prius last week, I can't say I felt as if I had just been sitting in a car for ten hours. It's that comfortable. The third generation Prius is by all accounts better in every way than the second generation, and the plug in version is by all accounts an even better version of that. I'll take one.

Citroen DS

1974_Citroen_DS23_Pallas.jpg

As long as it's one with the aerodynamic headlights, I don't care what kind of DS it is, I just want to own the most beautiful road car I've ever seen.

I can't help but love these things. They're lovely.

Lamborghini Aventador

7445895000_29df65e61e_z.jpg

The only thing that can even compete with the DS for the title of most beautiful road car. It helps that it's been consistently great to drive in the racing sims I've driven it in.

Mazda MX-5 Miata NA

246-JP0228_Mazda-MX5-Miata-NA.jpg

I've started to really appreciate this car's simplicity from driving it in GT6. I would probably put some serious modifications in it.

1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Tommi Makinen Edition Special Color Pack

10401014_200001s.jpg

Probably my favourite Lan-Evo of them all. The decal on this one adds just a little flare to it which I like.

1999 Subaru Impreza WRX STi

subaru-impreza+wrx-090d9e1dc9_t.jpg

Is it bad that I like both the Impreza and the Lan-Evo? I don't think so. This is also my favourite year of Impreza. I guess 1999 was a good year.

2014 Nissan GT-R Nismo R35

2014-nissan-gt-r-nismo-7.jpg

I blame Kaz for this...
2014 Dodge Challenger SRT8

300ca7ec107e05a35a34a018eb12abb1d15e397d.jpg

My favourite modern muscle car, and one of my favourite cars ever. I don't care what people say about Camaros and Mustangs, I still love this car, and I still think it is awesome.

1970 Dodge Challenger R/T

1970_Dodge_Challenger_RT.jpg

Who wouldn't want the classic Challenger with the legendary 426 Hemi? Well, I guess it's up to taste. But I love this classic muscle car.

1971 Plymouth 'Cuda Hemi

177815_1.jpg

My dad has a regular old Barracuda, this would be even better. To be honest, I think I might like it better then the Challenger above.

2014 Ram Laramie Longhorn

2012%20Ram%20Laramie%20Longhorn.jpg

If you live where I live, Pick-Up's are the norm. Probably would be the daily-driver.

2014 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

2014-jeep-wrangler-willys-softtop.jpg

This list would be incomplete without a true off-road toy.

2014 Viper GTS

GTS-2013.jpg

This is it. This would probably be my ultimate dream car. I could probably be fine with any Viper, but for the sake of dreaming, I'll take the current GTS.

It was hard to put this list together, there are so many cars I could of picked, but for now, this ten would satisfy me.

Incredibly tricky. Mostly because for what I want in a vehicle I'd only need the one:

2015_mclaren_650s_spider_02-0314.jpg

One of those was parked outside my house the other day. No idea what it was doing there.

4. Volvo P1800

What are those things, may I ask, and why are they so popular?

9) 2012 Vauxhall Maloo VXR
I need a GM Zeta in my life.

VXR8%20Maloo.jpg

Vauxhall sell those?

10) 2009 Škoda Superb Combi
This is easily the best car on sale in the world right now.

I'll take the pre-facelift model because it isn't ruined. It should also have the 3.6-litre VR6 and the 7-speed DSG please...

skoda-superb-combi-07.jpg

You people are really making me regret my choices.

Porsche 996 – my current car, fully restored, completely stock looking exterior with Xtrac suspension and a Manthey K400 GT3 motor/transaxle

996C4S.jpg

How much does that cost to run, may I ask?

7. Tesla Model S
2014-tesla-model-s_100436548_m.jpg

I almost went with one of those, but I was unsure of their long term viability.

Another car that nearly made the cut for me. So cool.

What are those things, may I ask, and why are they so popular?

RWB are essentially a tiny garage in Tokyo (although they do now have a branch in Singapore, IIRC) who specialise in taking older Porsche 911s and applying very wide, race-inspired bodywork, huge wings and massive tyres on to them. A lot of people like it because it shakes up what the 911 is known for; precise, clean and sleek body lines being replaced with huge, shouty (yet still functional) accents. Despite the additions though, it still comes across as well done and tasteful. A combination of German acuteness and Japanese zaniness, if you will.

What are those things, may I ask, and why are they so popular?

RAUH-Welt Begriff is a shop in Japan run by one Akira Nakai that makes these crazy retro-racer bodykits for 911s of all vintages (think the youngest car they modified was a 996). Best part is that him and his crew race them in amateur endurance races all over the country, so they aren't some all-show trailer queens.

Plus what @INEEDNAWZZZ said

Vauxhall sell those?

GM have imported the Holden Zetas over from Australia to the UK for years now.

How much does that cost to run, may I ask?

Running costs on my car (which doesn't have the dream mods) varies enormously depending on what work needs doing. Fixed costs are insurance (c.£450) and road tax (can't remember).

Variable costs...

A good year is a service (c.£700) and a set of rear tyres (£420) - rears last c.6k miles.

A bad year is a service (c.£700) front and rear discs and pads (£650), coupe of sets of rears (£840) and a gearbox rebuild (c.£3k).

Typically, I budget £2k a year for running costs.

I guess the dream version would cost c.£100k in modification costs.

I know a guy who now owns a Boxter S and when we asked the maintenance + service costs, his answer was and I quote:
"Service? What service? When the car reaches 1 year or 20000km I just swap it for another one. It costs less than servicing it"

The guy had: a Cayman (wasn't powerful enough), swapped it for a Cayman S and then he swapped for a Boxter S and soon it's swap time again.

Oh God, only ten? That'd be like choosing between losing an arm or a leg! (I'd lose an arm by the way)

Okay, I'll try...

1969 Z/28 Camaro. Preferred Color: Daytona Yellow (pictured below)
1969-z28-keystone-2.jpg

Favorite car ever made (I think. There are three others fighting it).

1970 Chevelle SS 454. Preferred color: The one below.
41617ea140463872009a99eb268e8274.jpg

This is the car that got me into every muscle car (aside from the Camaro and Mustang, which I already liked), I saw and heard one in a Wal Mart parking lot when I was 14.

1958 Corvette. Preferred color: black.

1958-Corvette.jpg

I'm cheating on the Camaro with this car. This is the one that goes back and forth as my favorite.

1957 Bel Air. Preffered Color: Black

This would be the one I'd drive if I were taking friends out.

2014 Ferrari 458 Speciale (the one in the pic is 2014 I'm pretty sure).

Beautiful Italian supercar, what else can you say?

1969 Dodge Charger R/T. Preffered color: As sexy as it is in black, I'll have to go with this color:

1950 Ford F3. The first ever Cobra.

And finally...
1951 Harley FL74 Pan Head. Preferred color(s), I don't know, it'd be custom.

It was this or an Aventador, and I really like Harley Davidson...

1969 Mustang Fastback

My ultimate dream car, (refer to my username and avatar). Although I'd prefer it in black.

1970 Torino

Another one of my favorite muscle cars, especially with the 429 Cobra Jet

1967-72 Ford truck

My favorite Ford truck body style. This would be my "fun" truck.

1973-86 Ford truck

This would be my workhorse. A dependable truck for anything I need it to do.

Another one of my favorites. One of the most beautiful and iconic muscle cars.

One of the most underrated muscle cars, it isn't any less cooler than other Ford, GM, and Mopar muscle cars

1970 Dodge Challenger R/T

Another favorite. Again, one of the most beautiful muscle cars.

1969 Camaro
image.jpg

I can't not have an example of a muscle car wearing the bow tie in my dream garage. And the 69 Camaro represents Chevy at their best.

1966-67 Ford Fairlane
image.jpg

Classic muscle cars never disappoint, and the Fairlane is no exception.

Ok, 10 cars is really hard to nail down but I think i'm as happy as I'm going to get. In no particular order of course...

1. Subaru Impreza WRX STI (2004)
It has to be blue. It needs to have gold wheels.
Subaru_Impreza_WRX_STi_Fron.jpg

One of my all time favourite cars, awesome to look at, rallying pedigree, a big bonnet scoop and a huge wing. Whats not to love?

2. Dodge Viper GTS (1999)
Blue with white stripes or black with silver or silver with blue.
chrysler-viper-gts-4.jpg

I grew up in a Mopar obsessed household and got a model of one of these for my 5th or 6th birthday. I'm still yet to see one in the flesh, 14 years later and I'd still love to own one.

3. Nissan R32 GTR (1992)

Dark grey, stock standard in every possible way.
Nissan_Skyline_R32_GT-R_001.jpg

I love how they look, I love how they sound and I love the history they have in this country. Out of all the GTRs ever made, this is my favourite.

4. Dodge Challenger "Hellcat" (2015)
Black or orange.
Dodge-Challenger-SRT-Hellcat-1.jpg

I've liked the modern Challenger since I first saw photos of the concept car. This version has over 700 horsepower from the factory, looks awesome, sounds great and has over 700 horsepower from the factory. It would only come out to go drag racing or on car cruises.

5. BMW M3 E46 convertible (2004)
In any colour except yellow, CSL wheels.
7545047586_4a545d03fe_z.jpg

My head automatically snaps around and a goofy look comes to my face when I see an E46 M3. I freaking love them. They are IMO the best all round sports car that Germany ever built. As a bonus, with the top down everybody will be able to see my high end sunglasses, tuxedo and slicked back hair.

6. Chrysler Valiant CL Drifter Panel van (1977)
Either white with blue stripes or orange. 360 V8 with a manual.
drifter.jpg

Panel vans are all awesome but the Drifter is my favourite. Just look at it and tell me you don't want one. Owning one would enable me to sleep anywhere, fit in with muscle car people and grow a mullet.

7. Lamborghini Diablo (1992)
It needs to be black.
lamborghini__diablo_1992_3_lgw.jpg

Like the Viper this is a car I got as a model when I was a kid. Unlike the viper, this one had scissor doors and 7 year old me was blown away by that. Even if it's broken 90% of the time, I can still play with it's doors while its sitting in the garage.

8. Jaguar XFR Sportbrake (2010)
It looks great in every colour, but this blue is my favourite.
9766449_600x400.jpg

I decided I need a cool wagon to get the shopping in and this one is as cool as they get. Big power, awesome looks and I wanna be able to tell people "I'm taking the Jaaaaag." Would be the go too car for long journeys.

9. Nissan 300zx Convertible (1992)
Dark blue, Nismo stripes, TT engine swap tuned to about 250RWKW, manual 'box and a thumping stereo. (Here's a render)
Vert 5..png

I already own the car but those mods are what I would do to it If I won the lottery. It would be the car I'd drive to the track, try not to crash, then drive home. Just gets the nod over the 86, purely for "first love" status.

10. Ford Falcon XR8 Ute (2015)
Either this color or black. (couldn't find a picture of an XR8 ute)
2014-Ford-Falcon-XR8.jpg.pagespeed.ce.BMtAtn9T5a.jpg

I'm Australian, due to that I felt I need a ute on this list. It'll probably be the last ute with a V8 to ever be released, It looks great, could tow a car trailer and will make a great daily driver.

Man, that was ridiculously hard. There's a long list of cars that I just couldn't make fit ranging from a 1st gen Honda Insight to a McLaren F1. If I won the lottery I think I'd need to buy a garage that can fit more than 10 cars

One of my favorite muscle cars. Only has the basic essentials for irresponsible driving.

7. Volvo 740 Turbo
I like boring cars. Some of them just happen to be pretty fast.

1998-Nissan-Skyline-2dr-sports-coupe-25GT-Turbo-ER34.JPG

8. Nissan Skyline 2.5 GT
I like the Skyline, but I don't feel like going full GT-R. This is good enough.

monster900city.jpg

9. Ducati Monster M900

I like motorcycles, so I had to put something. You can't complain with one of these.

10. Chevrolet Biscayne 409

I always liked these for some reason. It has a stupid amount of power and it makes you look like a 90s gangsta.

These types of threads do seem to have been done to death, but lists are so much fun! First three are in order of what I'm going to try to make happen, the rest are random:

92-93 Accord EX wagon, photo's a sedan, obviously, but it was at least my own car; Prelude H22A @ ~245whp naturally aspirated, better suspension, brakes, comfy interior... everything. The practicality-minded car in the garage also doubles as a track toy! Project now in progress.
11229455393_f90029691c_b.jpg

NSX, static headlights, supercharged (nothing crazy, but these need more torque), definitely black in color. I think this would make for a great primary car. As soon as the Accord's done...
IMG_8057_lg.jpg

'67-68 Mustang fastback, probably as thorough a project as the Accord, w/modern suspension+brakes. Not sure if i want to stay carburetor or swap in something modern. Let's hope I'm not too old by the time the NSX is in-hand and powered up.
1968_ford_mustang_fastback-pic-37533-640x480.jpeg

'98 Mustang Cobra, roots supercharged w/Griggs rear end. My 'power' car, but it's still gotta handle.

Classic Mini, Honda B16B EK9 Civic Type-R swap
Classic_mini_resprays,_restoration.jpg

Honda CBR600RR, stock, black. I know absolutely nothing about bikes, but it's something I want to get into some day. I figure a 600cc would probably make for a perfect runaround, and I'm a big Honda fan. A bike would act as a sunny day companion to the NSX as my primary means of getting around.
HONDA-CBR-600RR-BLACK21.jpg

Porsche Cayman GT4, stock, black, probably custom exhaust. Need a sexy car that makes a sexy noise, lol.

New Garage

1. Ferrari 250 GT California- Because it's one of the only Cabrios that I like, plus LOOK AT IT!! It's beyond gorgeous. It's one of those cars that you take it for a ride through the coast line, enjoying the view and that glorious looking thing.

1341618-ferrari-250-gt-california.jpg

2. Ferrari F40- Because what it represents. A fire-spitting monster! The looks, the noise, the brutality associated, the speed and the dangerousness. This car is not for the faint of heart. This is one of the manliest cars around. I do not care for it's difficulty to drive, I don't have any sense of self-preservation so I can enjoy the car

3. Alfa Disco Volante- My dream garage is filled with beautiful cars, but this is the Holy Graal. I am an Alfista, I love Alfas and I could choose any car, but this has that place in my heart and can't get out. Inspired by the original Disco Volante, this revived name is just  and I want to drive it more than anything.

4. Volvo P1800- A simple, not fast, but classy every day car. I always wanted one, because they look amazing, is Volvo and is reliable as it can get. This is my choice of daily driver.

6. Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS- Welcome to the manliest car in my garage. Forget the difficulty of driving a F40, this is the real deal. A lighter, faster version of the already dangerous 911. For me the best looking Porsche from the lot. Any Porsche fan has to have this car in his garage because this is the purest 911 you can get. Starting this and driving it is like injecting testosterone and hair comes sprouting out in each pore we have.

7. Porsche 918 Spyder- My favourite of the three. This was designed for daily driving pleasure. It's (supposedly) economical, easy on the envoirment, confortable etc. The bonuses are the looks and the speed. If I had one I would daily drive it.

9. Jaguar XK120- The fastest car in the world in it's time. Also one of the best looking ever. Having this piece of british motoring history is, in my opinion, better than having two E-Types. My weekend car because of the thrill of driving this bit of history. I love it more than any other Jag (but only slightly)

10. Mercedes 540K Autobahnkurier- Darth Vader would drive this. Anyone would drive this and look fearsome. This is a special edition 540K and I would have this, but I don't having a regular 540K. They are big, ostentatious and classy. I love this kind of cars.

5.Morgan 3-Wheeler- Why you ask? C'mon look at it! Looks like a crippled car yet put you a grin in your face like nothing else. This sheer joy of driving this is beyond definition.

8. Lamborghini Miura- How could I forgot this one? I already have beautiful cars in my garage and this is no exception. The looks, the thing passionately built, is just... there's no word to decribe it.

Damn it's been a year. Time for an update:

1. Ferrari 250GT California. Beautiful, perfect for a sunday ride through the coast. Favourite cabrio alongside the Eagle Speedster

2. Spyker Preliator. Rare, fast, beautiful, bespoke, inspired by airplanes. Also, exposed manual transmission linkage. Sublime.

3. Morgan 3-Wheeler. Half car, half bike a whole lot of fun.

morgan-3-wheeler-12.jpg

4. Pagani Huayra BC. Same as the Spyker, bit more hardcore.

_20160306_195348.jpg

5. Singer 911. I said that the 2.7RS is the purest and I still agree, but this one is all the magic of the 911's rolled into one.

6. I need a familiy hauler, so, that job competes to the Tesla Model S P90S with Ludicrous Mode. This might change in 4 years, when the Misson E arrives.

7. Eagle Low Drag GT. Look at the picture. Then you'll might understand why I have nothing to add.

8. My daily car, or at least most used, is a very serious, down to earth car. The Mk7 Golf GTI. Why you might ask. Well, my father owns a GTE, and it's by for the best, most fun car I drove. But it lacked the manual gearbox. The GTI might not have the frenetic acceleration of the GTE, because of the lack of the electric motors, but at least has 20 more horses.

9. So I covered it all. A usable hot hatch, a familiy hauler, a crazy supercar, a bespoke supercar, 2 modernized classics, a retro car and a classic convertible. Now I'll go for something fun. The Porsche 991 911 R. Has it all. And has a glourious interior. The only car that isn't the colour I'd like, but I guess the white isn't that offensive.

10. For something different. I love the MV Augusta 800 Dragster RR, but it's way to show off for a bike (wierd do to my car list, but I'm inconsistent that way ). So I'll have something more serious and a bit more sinester. The Ducati Diavel. The crossover bike. Half naked, half tourer. Still pretty damn powerful and very capable. Bit heavy, but I can live with that.

It's too easy to rattle off a whole bunch of cars I won't own in a million years, so I'm going to stipulate (for myself) that I can't own anything other than these ten, that they be practical enough that owning them isn't too much of a hassle (ridiculous insurance/storage requirements), and that none share the same number of cylinders. :P

1. Cooper 500.

2. Morgan F-2 (I swear I'm not an Anglophile).

3. Triumph T-150 (I mean it).

4. Jowett Jupiter, but could very easily be swapped out for an MG TD because my grandfather had one and I learned to drive in it (seriously, it's not because it's/they're British).

5. Adams-Farwell (See?). Do I really need to explain it? The engine is its own flywheel! Of course I'm probably breaing my rule here. :P

6. Citroën SM (I also swear I'm not copying @Roger the Horse, I love SMs with their Maserati engines and inboard brakes).

8. Bentley Mulsanne (it's just a coincidence) for a daily driver.

10. Ford F-250 V10 because I need a truck.

12. Ferrari 400i because they are an absolute joy to drive, and not terribly impractical.

ferrari_400i-1976-89_r6.jpg

16. Marmon Sixteen Victoria Coupe--probably tied with the Adams-Farwell as the most ridiculous, and also breaking my rule, but no 16-cylinder car is going to meet the requirements. ;)

marmon_sixteen_victoria_coupe_5.jpg

And only half the cars were British!
