You should check out The Anderton Boat Lift at some point too.
Not as fancy looking as the Falkirk Wheel, but over a hundred years older so it can afford to look a little frumpy!
If you're in the Cheshire area, Jodrell Bank & The not-so-secret-anymore Nuclear bunker would also provide suitably geeky entertainment, and a stay in Chester to sample as many of the pubs inside the city walls as possible would make for good evening entertainment! (used to be 22, but it may have changed)

I've been to Jodrell Bank more times than I can shake a stick at, but Ms. Cubicle hasn't as yet. I might have to plan a North Wales hollibobs with a trip to the Anderton and Jodrell on the route...
