He didn't push the car behind, I don't think. I think everyone just freaked out, and the immediate response to something like that is fight-or-flight, and it's hard to fight a transport truck.

Transport trucks are one of the last things I want to argue with, especially when they're tipping over a few feet away. Best response is usually "get far away," especially since you don't know whether it's carrying kittens or battery acid.
