Restart the game and then you'll find GVRC when you type it in the list. I had the same problem as you.
 
Sorry I missed it, I was out of town again yesterday.

Also I'm a college football nut so Saturdays are going to be very hit or miss (mostly miss) for me for a while.
 
I was able to join for one race, which was fun, though for some reason teamspeak wasn't letting me hear anyone. Will have to tinker w/ it again

Anyways, thanks for the race. I'll tyr to join again soon

When I was closing TS I noticed you were in the STGT channel instead of the GVRC channel.
 
Well, posting the club on the AC forums hasn't seemed to do much to increase our numbers and the current attendance isn't really worth sustaining. I think the next option is to open it up as a public room and let anyone join. Wiz had been doing this with Friday Night Fun and for the most part it worked fine, I never really encountered anyone causing trouble. I think I'd have to stick mostly to Kunos content or very popular mods, if I use an obscure mod car or track the chances of Randoms having that mod are low which means attendance would still be low. I'd be ok with that if it meant higher attendance. Or maybe I just do track days for a while with an open room until the nice weather dies down and people start spending more time indoors with their rigs?

Thoughts? Suggestions?
 
Good idea, but with regards to mods, if you would pick the most popular tracks like VIR, Paul Ricard, Donington, Riverside or Bridgehampton i think you'll have a good chance of players joining. We're on PC here so one might assume most online players will be as fanatic as we are :D

I'd also like to extend the practice session if possible (i believe it's 20 mins now?), so we are present in the lobby list for a longer time and more folk might drop in by the time Quali starts.
 
Yeah, like I said some Randoms would probably have the more popular mods, and chances are the ones who have mods might be a bit more serious about the game which would help weed out the riff-raff. But obscure/less popular/newly released mods probably would eliminate a good chunk of the players which would kinda defeat the purpose of opening the room up. We saw that happen a couple times in Friday Night Fun, good crowds with stock content and then the next week we did a mod track and no Randoms showed up. By sticking to stock content everyone could join, but we'd have a higher chance of getting riff-raff. It's fine line, methinks.

The practice session length is a compromise since I can't change it after the first race. I wouldn't mind doing 30 for the first session but I feel like waiting 30 minutes for the second race is too long and there's no way for me to change it without restarting the server. Especially if we're letting Randoms in, some of them might bail if they see they have to wait that long for the next race.

Yeah, or I have an app where I can just skip it as I please, but I like sticking to a schedule so people know what time things start. Like if someone misses the first race but they know they can make the second race because it doesn't start until X:00 o'clock, if the second race randomly started 15 minutes sooner they'd miss out and be a bit salty with me and call me lots of mean names that would hurt my delicate feelings. :P

Console version is out, and it's hard to say how much that is affecting turnout... maybe a little?

Otherwise, just keeping up the "hype" and promotion of the event may help too.

I'm hoping that as the warmer weather wanes more people will venture back to their gaming. It's always been tricky to get a good crowd in the summer, even back in the GT days. But we've had pretty sluggish attendance the last few months though so not sure if the console release is affecting anything. I think it's mainly because there's a fairly small group of PC AC racers on GTP and only a portion of those have much desire to race online at dedicated times. It is what it is, honestly I didn't even think it would last more than a couple months so I'm happy we got this far. I'll probably try opening it up to the public for the next few rounds and see how it goes, then evaluate future options.
 
OP updated with next event, Lotus Evora GX at Imola. All stock content so hopefully we attract a few punters from the public realms, but hopefully it's not a pairing that will attract a bunch of riff-raff. Since we'll be trying a public room all you guys will be my deputies so if you see something untoward let me know so I can boot the culprit(s). 👍
 
Sorry I won't be able to make this one either. Michigan plays at 3:30 today.
