The GrIndianapolis Challenge Time Trial - Prize Contest!!

Those times are great!
best I could get is 44.75~ and not very consistent with my other laps..
Great idea for a challenge + grind at the same time 👍
and yeah, the first corner is the key. The bump before it really makes it challenging ..

I might ask you to share your set up :sly:

Simply brilliant!

Not till After the Comp someone might beat me with me own set-up

Actually I still Reckon theres at least another 2-3 Secs that can come off the Total time and i'm sure the Lap Time can be beaten by someone else

I won't mind...........much :scared:

Lap: 44.004
Overall: 3:45.922

Ford GT LM racecar spec II. 810 hp

Not recorded, I did it last night. I'll try to repeat.

Ive got some Good News and Bad News for you

First the Good News - thats a Decent Time Mate well done 👍

Now the Bad News - your only supposed to use a "NASCAR" Car :)

Must've stayed up too late.:dunce:
That is bad new cause mine is a Toyota which shoudn't matter since it's made in America.

First NASCAR I bought was the "18" as i'm a big Fan of his .

Needless to say I was a bit ticked off when I found out you can't use it in the American Championship , but its down to the Motor itself :grumpy:

Go and Buy a NASCAR Mate there not even that Exspensive

Oil Change before you use it , to gain the Extra Horsepower , then thrash it for 500 Miles to get the Power up to 892BHP 👍

It is strange, check out the G37 from America in the dealership, or go find out where lotus gets their engines. Nascar is raced, built, tested, destroyed in U.S. better yet the factory is here also, yet I have to go grind out 5 more races! We get no love!

Such consistency is very impressive, Bravo!

I believe your weird set-up is essential in order to achieve the times you posted. Unless someone find a setup at least as effective as yours, it will be really difficult.

Your tuning knowledge will be a priceless reward for me 👍

revisited this today after a few days away. Found something fundamental in the setup that lowered times significantly.

44.011" and 3'46.788"

43.975" and 3'46.520" 3'46.469"

43.954" and 3'46.285"

43.954" on lap 5 of 5.
splits for that lap
15.090
9.567
19.267

laptimes for race

Lap 1: 50.227
Lap 2: 44.079
Lap 3: 44.005
Lap 4: 44.020
Lap 5: 43.954 *

Interestingly, Harley45 had one lap (apart from first lap) that wasn't under 44 seconds, whereas for a faster total time, I had only one that was under 44 seconds. The 3/10's I gained on that first lap gave me back the lead in the comp.

Here's the video of that race. Quality is no good, but you can just make out the lap times.

The car I drove is less than 500km old. I changed the oil and ran it in, and was making 892bhp for this run.

Aero 49 58
Trans 380
Diff 20 20 5
Height 0 -10
Spring 18.0 19.3
Dampers (ex) 9 10
Dampers (comp) 2 3
Anti Roll 2 3
Camber 0.4 0.2
Toe 0.08 0.08

The 'fundamental' change I made to the setup for my last session was raising the ride height, to create a reverse wedge at 0, -10. This gave me the biggest noticeable gain of all my tuning. Where other adjustments gave me hundredths of a second improvement, or just a 'ease of driving' benefit, the ride height adjustment delivered tenths, immediately.

The element of surprise is here today! :D

Lap 1 0'50,064
Lap 2 0'43,967
Lap 3 0'44,094
Lap 4 0'44,003
Lap 5 0'44,025

Total 3'46,153

That's my entry for the total time class. However, the rules said nothing about having to do the fastest lap in the fastest total race so from a different session I'm fielding this in the lap time class:

Fastest single lap 0'43,229

They also said nothing about the circumstances under which the fastest lap had to be set. I'll provide either videos (720p with a camera off the TV screen) or the replay files if asked for - it's your choice which ones I'll provide. Just not today as it's nearly 0200 hours here. You probably understand that I can't make times up in my head and then drive a race exactly matching them after the deadline.

The setup I used was my Car Of Tomorrow setup published a while ago.

Nice job Greycap 👍

And very good timing :D

Well! Unless Ripping and Harley have the will to question the validity of your times, you are the winner!

May I ask you to post your set-up here? Harley, yours is welcome aswell!

I send all of you guys a PM for the rewards.

Thanks to everyone who participated!

That is a very impressive time. 👍 Exactly under which circumstances was that set?

7/10's quicker than everyone else and also 7 tenths quicker than your fastest race you posted. Yes, I will question it.

Your first Lap was where you made the most time , My first Lap was all over the place . if I could've nailed the first lap better then is would've been a close run thing between you and me mate 👍

For sure.. it was a close run thing anyway! Luckily I found a bit of speed in my last session. I guess we both could have gone below 3'46, if you had nailed the first lap, if I had nailed laps 2 to 4!
It was good to have your times to aim for anyway... shows just what the car is capable of with the proper tuning. 👍

My best in the Vette is 41.736
Best in the Ford Gt Test Car 41.354

Best in the Nascar so far 43.883

All times in clean air draft times not counted.

When Bob finishes his 5th or is it his 6th 24 Hr Lemons Race i'll post my setup .

Trust me its not Normal  so I wouldn't say it was proper Tuning

But it worked for me , i'm also going to try other Tunes posted in here just to see how they compare 👍

Yes, I will question it.
I knew someone would. :D It's just a bit too fast to sound legit until you realize that...
My bad, I realize I forgot that nasty detail. You did this lap with slipstream assist, didn't you?
...I drafted the others for almost the entire lap. That lap was also just about the only thing I got right in the session, the rest included wall scraping and even spinning the car (don't try braking with a 3/7 balance with ABS off, it was off to comply to the "no aids" rule) but the record lap was clean. I admit that drafting probably wasn't the fairest game but it wasn't forbidden so I took it as allowed. NASCAR is largely about tactics after all...

Here goes with the replays. And yes, I drove two different cars because #14 began to feel like the chassis was going.

The record lap:

The total time:

The car was the Car Of Tomorrow by Mad FinnTuners Co. - well, by me but published in the garage - with small changes. The record lap setup had the top speed increased to 380 km/h to make better use of the drafts and the total time had the rear stabilizer toned down to 5, no real changes but it may have felt a bit smoother. Or then it didn't because I also did a 0'43,949 before the change...
