FINAL ENTRY
The Evolution of BMW Team Mitakihara #30

This is the first time i entered this type of competition (remember me? I am the guy who tries to compete in various GTS PMCs, but most of them were rejected by the round hosts :( (at least during the recent ones when there is a top 30 selection list))
Good luck to all other participants!

HINT!: The M6 GT3 livery has some recognizable names on the roofline, can you guess them? Then, where they came from?

EDIT: Second random photo that was inside a spoiler was removed under request by @syntex123

When browsing my liveries, I noticed I've already made two pairs for this theme. But some decals were not "era accurate", and I didn't want to use some previous work. At first I wanted to go the F1500-T / X2014 route, but I ended with clones of liveries already widespread on the discover section. So I chosen something less usual.

Say hello to the very first JGTC Lamborghini, the JLOC Rain X Countach. Back in 1994, this was the first time a Lamborghini enters this championship. The Countach was actually a 25th anniversary model, and was replaced in 1995 by the Diablo, but I still chose to do it on the "old" Countach. Nowadays, JLOC still races the Super GT championship with Huracans. Instead of replicating their actual livery, I decided to re-use the old Rain-X livery, with up-to-date logos for the sponsors (even the 2018 40th anniversary of ADVAN tires) and with a more modern graphic style (now that with wraps, everything is possible/easier).

That's awesome, absolutely what I was hoping for! Great attention to detail on both cars, top work!

Winner! Amazing looking!
If I have to be finicky probably for 2018 supergt you should have the Kumamon logo as championship official sponsor.
Well done! 👍

Thanks everyone !

:embarrassed: I thought it was just a tribute, like the Dan Gurney's sticker for the Daytona 24 hours race, not an official sponsor...

Awesome, no other words can be said. Killer design!

@RZQSPEED Remember that only one ‘random’ image will make the poll, and it would be great if only one were posted, to keep it to the rules in OP :) looks good though!

Good work @Cytoria

So I'm new to this and thinking about having a go but one question, can the livery be loosely based on a classic or current livery style or does it have to replicate either the classic or current style?

Or can it be pure fantasy?

FINAL ENTRY

Team Labatts Toyota

In 1989, instead of entering the British Touring Championship in a BMW M3, Will Hoy raced a specially modified 16v 2.0 litre engined Toyota Supra. The version shown is the entry for the final round to coincide with the global launch of the new Toyota logo. Due to the success throughout the season, the team managed to gain additional sponsorship.

21 years earlier, Labatts joined forces with Castrol and Pan Am, to propose an entry into the 1968 European saloon car championships. Unfortunately, despite the proposal itself being well funded, the Toyota 2000 GT proved fast but too expensive to buy and run against the cheaper Mini Coopers and Lotus Cortinas. A few pictures can be seen in the February 1968 editions of the motoring magazines of the time. The livery is the one used during promotions at various Motorsport shows.

[All completely made up!]

Not the final entry yet ... to be edited

Love it! Great story concept too!

I edited my original post with the proper photos. When can I post a bonus livery that is separate from judging?

Whenever you want, except not in this thread if it isn’t your entry! :)

Regarding the one scape rule you should probably amend this part of the OP to warn people and post the details in that part.

LOCATIONS: Any (main image(s) has to comply with the rules. see below)
SCAPES: Yes

I was about to google « Toyota Labatts » ;)

Nice entry ! I like how you blurred the lines of « Now & Then » by using two classic cars.

Yeah, strictly speaking he should have chosen a newer model, but there's enough of an age gap that I'll let it slide. Anyway he might just be one of those folks who still thinks it's 1989 💡

Great work, before @syntex123 hassles you, re-read the first post regarding image format for entry 👍

Need to decide upon a theme, I have 3 in mind but either missing a specific car (old Mercs or Porsches) or the decals could prove an issue (I'm not that good at uploading decals)

I shall decide tonight and get on with it :D

Thank you, although it wasn't my intention to break the rules - in my defence I was focusing on this ...

"Your challenge is to create two distinct liveries demonstrating the evolution of a team's colours using one 'old' car and a second newer model.

Whilst its very easy to plaster the same decals on two different cars, the devil is in the detail with this one and the key is to try and make both liveries look period-correct. So take you time when choosing decals and select versions that are suitable for the age of the car".

I have to confess, when I checked on which Toyota logo to use for the Supra, I was shocked the 'new' logo came out in 1989.

I still listen to the Smiths, Depeche Mode and Marillion. So, yeap, I probably do still think it is 1989! damn - I'm old!

Yes, of course. You’re right. I forgot. :D I’m on it!

LOCATIONS: Shiretoko (for your main images. This has to comply with the rules. See below)
SCAPES: Yes
1) Choose the Shiretoko scape (found by searching all locations and refining by 'Japan'and 'Snow'):

View attachment 729370

2) Apply the following settings:

Camera

Camera Settings

Aperture: F 2.8
Shutter Speed: 1/60 (as it's not a panning shot I don't know that this is important)
Focus: Single AF

Environment Settings
Aspect: 16:9
Orientation: Landscape
Resolution: High

Effects

White Balance
Temperature: 9800 K
Colour Cast Correction: -0.060
Exposure correction: EV +2.0

Special Effects
Chromatic Aberration: 5

Screen Effect 1
Mask: Background
Filter: None
Individual Colour Tone Correction:
Saturation: 0
Brightness: 50
Contrast: 250
Highlight: 100
Midpoint Correction: 100
Blackpoint Correction: -5

Car Effects
Filter: None
Individual Colour Tone Correction:
Saturation: 150
Brightness: 75
Contrast: 120
Highlight: 500
Midpoint Correction: 500
Blackpoint Correction: 0

3) Place your car in the middle of the scape at a suitable angle:

View attachment 729371

4) Zoom in to 102mm (certain cars may require more or less to fit in the viewfinder) and move the camera until you're happy that the car is centred in the shot:

View attachment 729372

5) Move the focus to the nearest corner of the car (I normally centre on the headlamp closest to the centre of the image) and take your shot.

6) For a shot of the rear, go back to the Car tab and hit R2, switch to Camera and refocus (again I use the tail lamp nearest the centre) and take the shot. If the car has moved off-centre then move the viewfinder and adjust the zoom as you see fit.

For new cars/liveries simply find the scape in your library and reopen and change the car, then rinse and repeat as above.

Well I can't fault your logic at all. The Labatt's livery really suits the Toyota, it's not a million miles away from the ICS Securicor livery from the later Carinas.
