Reminds me of 3-ring school binders from the 90s.

FINAL ENTRY

Art Cars Theme

Again a challenge for this round to seek inspiration on this weeks livery assignment.
Not in a negative but for sure in a positive way.:)
It keeps me busy for days only thinking what to choose but for this week I just started blanco.
But isn't that what real artist do most of the time.:D

No connection with a real world art but I think this Civic can enter a tuner festival anytime.

Wow! This one looks really stunning! Always loved the black/red(yellow/teal) combination. And for sure this Civic would be real head-turning machine.

FINAL ENTRY

Nothing too fancy. I decided to use the bus so I wouldn't have to perform any decal gymnastics. Just a flat image based on a momentous occasion.

So last summer I drove up to Rexburg in Idaho so I could witness in full the greatness that is a total solar eclipse. To say that it didn't disappoint would be the understatement of the year. I absolutely cannot emphasize enough how little words can do it justice. It is 100% indescribable and is something that I feel everyone must experience within their lifetime. It is a completely surreal feeling. Your brain understands what is happening, but every bit of your being is fighting it, screaming at you that this can't be real. It takes your breath away and makes everything else seem absolutely trivial. It's just you and this moment. The world around you seems to fade away. By the time the two and half minutes are up, you are left wanting more, looking forward to the next one. It was easily the greatest moment of my life so far.

Anyway, that's what this livery is all about. It features a lone observer witnessing the celestial event as the world around him crumbles away. I managed to make the image with only the decals provided in the game.

If you want to sport this livery yourself. Enjoy!

Good work!

I travelled to Austria with friends in 1999 to see a total solar eclipse... I agree it's quite a humbling experience...

Final Entry

I do not have a story about this. I just had ALOT of fun doing this!

That livery needs to go on a 911 RSR at Le Mans next year!!! Your "JK" logo could go on either (or both) side/s of the front intake (since there aren't any side intakes on it like the 911 GT3 RS), add some Michelin decals at the front (where it usually goes on almost all Porsche race cars, just beneath the bonnet) and the rear (next to the rear tyre arches) along with some sponsors of your choice. Top it off with the 24H Le Mans class decals (GTE Pro with number 89 I imagine, you can find it here: https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gtsport/user/profile/1198273/gallery/decal :)) and voila, the 2018 Le Mans art car!

Some great designs here once again.

I wish, in a way, I hadn't read the challenge as having a story or to set a particular theme, idea or inspiration. i probably would have done something a lot more whacky and off the top of my head like JK if it was just free reign!

Good luck to all contenders

I'm just glad people entered :D

I think I'm just a bit bored of looking at sponsor decals. Honestly, I know it's a hard theme to tackle but to me, a lot of it is about how an idea evolves, and it's that that makes it special... I'd considered just leaving it as sponsor free but I wanted to push people to think outside the box a little more, and to bring out some fresh ideas. I'm really happy with all the entries so far and I'm glad people have made the effort, hopefully we'll get a couple more before the end.

@syntex123 which polling method do you plan to use? 1 vote or 3?

Matski I wasn't knocking the theme at all, I really enjoyed doing mine, I just meant that I spent so long coming up with a an idea or theme when I didn't really need to, I thought it was needed for the competition but that's me misreading it I guess.

I don't think you misread it. It's what I was pushing for but I did throw in "if you can" to not discourage too many people. I thought more people might decide to go down the route of taking inspiration from an existing artist to be honest.

Final 24h started now :D
Just had a quick look through the entries now to check if they're eligible for the poll.

@Teal, your images are too big again

FINAL ENTRY

"Lines and Curves"

For a very long time I've felt in love for the Infinity VGT curves. Finding a nice livery to it was always hard, so when the Art Car theme went out, I saw it as the perfect canvas, if it wasn't for the BMW VGT.

I'm really keen about modern and abstract art, and I chose to use very linear pattern I've seen in some pieces. I also played with volumes, and despite that the stripes are perfectly aligned from some angles, the shape of the car is so curveous they are almost never seen like this. Vaserely uses this kind of effect with deformation of the lines on a flat surface to mimic relief, I used the deformation of the lines on a curve to break the linear pattern.

This is also a tribute to the livery editor itself and its features : all the white and red lines were the same, then I chose different depth for each of them to create the effect.

And for the colour choice, I went for something very familiar because one of my rooms uses this for walls, furniture and carpet. Some gradients are used underneath the skin to create a simili-coloushift effect which disturb the eyes from the 3 main colours.

Too big? The thumbnails are smaller than every other entry.
Yeah but the full images are 800something pixels and I can‘t attach the thumbnails. It‘s not that hard to upload the images in full size and have a click-able 640px thumbnail :)

See here:

That's the images I can put in the poll without working around putting a bit of work into it.

Glad you had fun and it's a well executed design 👍

I'm going to take a guess that something to do with print media inspired the design. The use of CMYK and Greyscale colour registration blocks and gradients seem noticeable, I was wondering if that was part of the motivation?

Yes, it resembles my history in Graphic Design, alot of styles I've used in the past has been shown on the design. That, and my proper introduction to Illustrator that I got to really use for Gran Turismo Sport.

Thanm you!

Thanks!

I will probably redo this work on an RSR, that way we atleast have it ingame haha. I appreciate that!

No chance to see this enlarged? Or is it a problem with my browser?

I thought I had these expanded so everyone could see them. If everyone can't, could someone let me know how to adjust it?

They look alright at 640px wide as a preview, but there is no link to see them bigger.

Personally I'd recommend using the media/albums function on GTP. Just add it as full size media on your profile page, then when you want to post it, click the Camera icon above the posting box... and when you select the image it'll post it at the correct preview size, and link it to the full size photo in your media gallery at the same time.

Thanks, I’ll have to give that a try next time. As a quick workaround, click on my sig. and navigate to my scapes.

Sorry about my absence these days. I've been so tired all the time, it's too hot
I think since there are so few entries we'll do 1 vote this time. A minimum of 20 entries for the 3-vote system to work. We'll see in the future. There was a lot of confusion last time 'round.

I started something but never really had the motivation to finish it :boggled: Maybe the next contest will be „better“ for me :D
Same here, had to throw together something that didn't end up the way I wanted it.. and it looks kinda unfinished. But. It's something. :dunce: I need to finish my original idea soon.. But not in time of this competition. Anyways, here goes:

FINAL ENTRY

Not much of a story behind it.. I thought it would make sense to make a collab between Sony and Nissan with having the 20th Anniversary design on a 20 year old car (at that time). Why not the R32. Matte metallic base with glossy decals on top. A big thanks to @Maninashed for making the pattern for me!
