The GT2 Driving Strategy Guide

Am I the only person to have this? Because a cousin gave me all his PS1 games (GT2 being one of them) and it had this Driving Strategy Booklet inside. The thing is, none of my mates got this with theirs. Just wondering if anyone else got one of these too, I found it quite useful.

Oh and one more thing, does anyone think it would be a good idea if I typed it up to GTP? Time not being an issue. 👍

I say go ahead and copy it, unless for some reason the mods here have an issue against doing so. Like I'm not sure if it's completely legal for you to have it up on this site (for copyright reasons), although I have seen plenty of people do what you're thinking of on their own FAQ/walkthrough type sites.

Dang, it'd be nice though. I lost my drving guide for GT2 years ago. I still have hope that I'll find it, since the other day I found Sonic and Knuckles Collection fallen down under a drawer.

I would also love to have one, I bought my game second hand, so it only has the CD. The previous owner probably lost the booklet :grumpy:👎.

Copy it up I will then 👍

I'll just post it in this thread shall I? Or make a new one. But I think I have made too many new threads in the 3 days i have been a member :scared: haha. Have it up soonish :)

All I can find is something on the back that says:

All manufacturers, cars, names, brands and associated imagery featured in this game are trademarks and/or copyrighted materials of their respective owners. All Rights Reserved. That just mentions things included in the game so i guess it's ok to copy this out :dunce:...

Actually, it is a violation of copyright to copy anything word-for-word and post it on an internet forum. Please do not do so, until the copyright expires. Since it was likely published in 1999 or 2000, and the works of corporate authorship are protected for 120 years after creation, that means you may publish it at GTPlanet in the year 2119 or 2120, unless Sony releases it into the public domain before that (this is Sony we're talking about...so, doubtful).

If any of you are still around then, please feel free to bump up this thread, no questions asked. Otherwise, publishing copyrighted material is forbidden, and will constitute a warning or infraction here.

...although I have seen plenty of people do what you're thinking of on their own FAQ/walkthrough type sites.

Go right ahead; you're permitted to create your own "walkthroughs" and game guides. Cite some of the threads here along the way, if you wish.

No, it's a yes. But we have to wait 120 years to post the guide here. Personally, I plan on being chryogenically frozen in liquid nitrogen pretty soon anyways, so I might just be around in the year 2119. Of course by then, there will no more internet or books....by then it will be possible to inject a tiny foil chip into our heads at birth, and all the knowledge of the world shall pass on to us at once so we don't even have to go to school. Leisure time will be at a premium, of course.

See ya then. ;)

haha i might just join you! No more school! yey! And i don't use the internet to find things out really, I just chat on it XD. But maybe by 2119 you will be able to chat through your mind to anywhere in the world. I may just being stupid and unrealistic but there's the possibilty :P See you there! :dopey:

Then that is why every time I walk by a microwave I go nuts. :nervous::)

microwave? are you kidding? SHeesh, by then we won't even need food! Every human specimen will be able to survive for days on special little pellets...just like in The Jetsons. Put a drop of water on your pellet, pop it in your mouth, and there you go! :nervous: Pizzarias will be obsolete! Sushi Bars? GONE! 25 cent boxes of mac & cheese in college? Living off of Ramen Noodles?? All that will be going the way of the dinosaurs. :D

Actually, that kinda sucks. Hey I LIKE eating! I like reading! I like wasting time on the internet! :dunce: Never mind....I take it all back, I DON'T WANNA BE CRYOGENICALLY FROZEN!!!

Guess you'll have to create your own webpage(s) if you wanna get your project done, buddy. :guilty::grumpy: Try going over to IGN (I think that's what it's called)..that's where all the cheapie text-based websites seem to be. Or you can get more ambitious and create a geocities website, but I believe they cost money...and then you'd definitely attract attention from copyright holders :scared:

Personally, I like walkthrough or "guide" websites (even if they're technically not legal). :dunce::)

You know, I was thinking about how we could turn this thread into a discussion about the future, but it'd probably turn out like the "Any pros on GT2?" thread a few pages back in the forum. Parnelli might remember that one. :sly:

But anyway, I hope you can go through with this; typing up 60+ pages worth of text can't be easy.

Well if it's illegal to copy it word by word, then why not put the main points about it instead? We'll all still get the content, but it's not directly copying. Just like summarising a book.

Seriously, is the stuff inside the guide hardcore stuff or is it just basics? If it's basic then I think most of us here already knew it anyways so it would be pointless to write it up. But if it's hardcore driving techniques stuff......I really want to know :)

Well yeh i think I would be able to type it up in my own words.

It's got some basic points and some quite hardcore stuff. It managed to help me shave off about 2 secs a lap, so I think it is quite good. It's stuff to do with weight shifting and best lines through corners... Oh and it has a few things about how to help stop over-steer and under-steer.

I want to make sure it's not illegal first though, rather not be breaking law at this age :nervous:

Well if you're not sure better don't do it then. I also don't want to be the one causing you to get into trouble.

Good for you though, 2 secs per lap is quite big. Back then I have to grope my way through with driving techniques because I don't have any guides to help me. But I'm pretty good now with weight shifting, racing lines and dealing with under/oversteer :) so I don't feel like I'm missing anything yet.

That's what I do when I write all the time...I try to put stuff in my own words after reading several websites. But it's funny cuz as I jump from website to website, you'd be surprised how often stuff gets plagiarized on the net. :nervous: I mean, I've been on one website reading about a car, and I'll go to another site and sometimes the info is literally word-for-word. Identical on both sites. I guess it doesn't matter till someone starts making some money off of someone else's words...and then it's war.

It might be hard to put a technical manual/guide in someone's own words, though. Good luck.

.

Yeah, I do remember! That was fun!

any pros out there in GT???

HUH??

*this thread is locked*

that was hilarious. I have no idea how exactly that happened, it was fun, though.

Ah, yes. That one. I often go back and read it over again just for the halibut. Boy, I wish it wasn't locked...

I think I will give it a go :) Take a while though since i have my Year 9 SATs next week and my mum will be making me revise :ouch:. Oh and I'll try and make it make sense the best I can :dopey:

Lol that thread sounds funny, going to go have a look at it now :)

 yeah that thread was a classic. Started off quite serious actually. Then some popcorn passing and....well the rest is history.

Someone should move it to the Rumble Strip and reopen it :D.

To racerboyjamie: There's no need to rush, take your time :). Good thing that you're actually putting your studies first 👍.

Same here. On some other forums I'm on (non-GT related) there is a seperate sub-forum for "legendary threads". I think that one would make the list.

What y'all don't know is: I went on a 2-day binge about halfway thru that thread 👎...that's why I'm there for the first 3 pages, and then all a sudden I vanish. By the time I came "back" to earth, the thread had been locked. Which didn't surprise me. :embarrassed:

You have to understand that the mods never used to visit the lesser GT forums. I mean, maybe once every 4 months a mod would pop his head in GT1 or 2. Things are different now....but I still have a blast talking to you guys everyday.

This is why I loved the GT1&2 forums, the environment is more relaxed, rules are a tad more lenient, and there's a feeling of "good old times" in the conversations.

GT1&2 forums are like the old town centre. GT4&5 are like the newly built CBD sprawl.

Was that thread the reason of why?

Why what? 😕
