The GT2 Driving Strategy Guide

So true 👍.

Oh, I believe what Stig22121 is asking is whether the "any pros on GT2?" thread the reason why things are different now, like you said in your post before this.

I'm not sure why the mods show up here more. I don't think there's any real reason, to be honest; some of them just pay attention more or something.

. 4 years ago when I joined up here, Pupik was the main guy in the GT1 & GT2 forums, but he wasn't a mod till recently..back then he was more like a combination of teacher, hall-monitor, and guidance counselor. :dopey: And then I was so obsessed with GT2, I started posting here everyday and Pupik eventually started showing up less and less. No real reason, I think he just got interested in new things. Like his new baby :)

Er, Play-what-when-station? Not much time for that.

Trust me, I'd like to find time to spank the field at Red Rock Valley with or swerve my way through Grindelwald, but time is so short nowadays.

Why what?

I've always thought of the older GT forums (GT1, 2, and 3) rather like a corner pub. You always see the same faces, and occasionally someone new drops in. Currently, gT3 is so inactive though. :indiff: It almost seems like a "closed" sign is hanging. Cobwebs everywhere. weeds growing out of cracks in the parking lot. :(

GT4? Again, alot of the same faces, but it's more crowded and not as relaxed; almost like a sports bar where some bully might just show up and wanna kick you around. :scared: I always think alot before i post there--someone can occasionally challenge your views, and if you haven't got your ideas straight, you can wind up looking bad! :nervous:

GT5? The show hasn't even truely started (GT5 prologue is just the warm-up band) yet it's where all the kids are!. :D GT5 is not even a bar....it's more like a concert venue. :scared: Lots of security. The mods have to constantly police the threads for duplicates, bad grammar, and just plain stupid people. :dunce: There's this huge "up-in-the-air" feeling as people anticipate the game. When will it be out? Is PD having problems? what will be in the game?

In a way, i'm glad i'm not gonna get GT5 anytime soon, i would definately wind up getting in online scuffles alot more cuz sometimes i can't control my mouth and say the wrong thing online. :guilty:

I've always thought of GT2 as my main GT game; it's the one I'm best at and have played for almost 10 years. Almost like I know all the ins and outs, nooks and crannies of it. It's where I started at GTP. I know GT1 fairly well, too, so I spent some time in there. Like you said, kinda like a corner pub.
Then I got into GT4 a couple months ago, and things are more...cut-throat in there. You have to start watching your step. It's alright, but it's not the old-school feel of the earlier forums.

I remember seeing looking up to some people in the GT2 forums as my "mentors", if you will; A.A.Z, you, suchayo (where has he been?), superberkut all come to mind.

Oops...going off into memoryland :). Ah well.

Parnelli: Well, maybe Pupik was preparing you to be the next GT2 mod!

Pupik: That's true, I myself sometimes feel that 24 hours in a day is not enough.

ty00123: When I joined the crowd at GTP I'm already pretty deep into the game, almost 100% in GT2 and 100%-all-gold-license in GT1. So I joined in the fun quite late. But it's also good, because I can offer help to newbies and not ask stupid questions myself and get into trouble. I'm refraining from buying a PS2/3, because I'm afraid that I will be wasting too much time on it and forget my school duties, and also the GT4 forums, like you said, is more like threading on thin ice.

Oh yes, I also regard the same peoples (AAZ, Parnelli, sucahyo, superberkut, Pupik, HYBRDLVR) as my mentors. Those are the "pioneers", shall we say, that makes the old GT2 forum what it is today. Old maybe, but still a great place to be in :).

Oh god, absolutely not. :ill: I'm too much of a rogue...just outside the law! Plus, I would get sick of the pressure of having to enforce laws here. I just like shooting the 🤬 online.

Not to mention members like TMM, MacRoadster, -batman-, and many others who we haven't seen in years. :(

that's a good question. Where has Sucayho been? LeGdNd-1 is also from Indonesia, and said a few weeks ago that Sucahyo is very busy with work or something. we all miss him.

Yeah, alot of the great old members are disappearing now. Maybe that's why the GT2 forum is so "dead" nowadays. I still regret the fact that I didn't found GTP sooner, must've been great in the "golden age" back then. When I got here the GT2 forum has reached it's "twilight" phase, and now it's like a ghost town. I'm trying as best as I can to keep it going, but I'll also need you guys long time existing members to help out to keep our beloved forum alive 👍 :).

On sucahyo's whereabouts, I can only say that he WILL come back, sooner or later. He's working all day long and he only has internet connection from his office. So he has limited time here on GTP. And he's doing track conversions for a game called Viper Racing, which took most of his free time. When he has a chance, he'll come back I'm sure :). Just be patient, and perharps creating/resurrecting a tuning/codes-related thread will help too. After all, that's what he'll be most interested with....

If you miss him so much, go to http://www.vrgt.com/ He can also be found there (in the fourms section), also under username sucahyo.

I wouldn't make a very good mod. Some members here (long-time members as well as some mods) don't like me, which is how it goes sometimes. I think you've at least got a more "balanced" approach, Pupik. People always looked up to you ever since your GTN days. You're like a natural leader or whatever.

LeNdGn-1: this actually is what it was like back when I joined...there have never been more than 4 to 8 steady players here at the GT2 forum, so don't feel bad. :) This forum feels very alive to me.

Now if you want to see TRUE DEAD, go check out GT3!!! :ill: There's a post of mine that's been sitting up there for over a week, when I got mad and started b!tching about newb players who ask a question and then never say "thanks man"!

...and that post is still sitting there! Everyday I get a little embarrassed that I'm the one who had the "last word"....:embarrassed::ill:

I would consider Gt2's "golden age" to be from December of '99 (when the game was released) till mid-2001 when GT3 took over. From then on, I think GT2 has been more of a has-been game... the people who keep it alive nowadays are mostly hardcore addicts.

You're right, I would prefer the way the GT2 forum is now than seeing it turn into the GT3 forum.

What makes GT2 so great is (and the reason I keep playing it) is that there's still so much more cars to drive, even if you've finished the game a long time ago. I don't think it will ever "pass" for me :). I'm a really hardcore addict, I'd probably kill myself if my GT2 disc get broken.

There's lots of people who started with GT3, explored GT4, so they want to try something different.

GT3 has very little action, I think there's about as much activity there as the GT1 forum. GT2 is undergoing a little "renewal" as of late, probably from all the GT5:P visitors.

I had finaly typed it up and then it got deleted along with the backup file!!! I can't be bothered to type it all up again, sorry guys. Anyone else feel up to it?
