A bit of Rockets news is that Yao Ming will stay with the Rockets for at least five more years at around $80M. My only concern is, can someone get him out of foul trouble? The Rockets mostly use Yao when involved in inside passing, not to mention a good blocker. I still hope that Tracy McGrady, Mr. Sura, Padgett, and company, can make the most of this upcoming season.
John, do join our discussion in the NBA discussion thread. It's just me and Saleen Man most of the time, and all I bring up is the Blazers and the Spurs. :D I haven't seen rollazn lately either.

On topic: I didn't know about Yao's foul troubles. I know that most teams don't fear Yao's defensive capability either, so that's probably something he's got to work on. What I noticed last year about him was his passing. Some of the Portland media even compared him to Arvydas Sabonis, who was a pass-first center. 👍

After a 4-0 start for the Rockets in the preseason games, it seems that the Houston Rockets will be a hard team to deal with in the 2005-2006 NBA season. The Houston are playing great basketball and they had great additions to the team.

Added:

Derek Anderson - Great addition to the Houston Rockets. A person that can come off the bench and give you some points. Kind of like Mike James.

Luther Head - The rookie out of Illinois. What a player!! From the games that I saw so far - he seems to be a great player. I expect good solid numbers from Head.

Stromile Swift (Free Agent) - WOW. He is a solid athletic power forward. He can dunk all over the place. I'm sure most of you guys remember how he dunked on Yao Ming last season. This guy can catch the ball from anywhere and slam it down. Just throw it up in the air and he'll get it.

Rafer Alston (Traded Mike James) - The starting point gaurd for the Houston Rockets since Bob Sura is out with the Knee injury. He is known for being a street ball player, he was a former And 1 player. Nickname was Skip to my lou - he seems like a player that will run the ball. Him + McGrady + Swift = a lot of fast break points.

Lonny Baxter
Dion Glover
Chuck Hayes
Keith Langford

Loss:

Mike James (Traded for Rafer Alston)
Scott Padgett
Vin Baker
Charlie Ward

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE REGULAR SEASON!!

Best new player so far will have to go to Swift. His last two games were amazing. Blocks, Rebound, Points this guy can do a lot for the Rockets.

The honorable mention will have to be Luther Head. Amazing rookie.

Go HOUSTON ROCKETS.
