the "just plain ugly" car thread

The 2016 Toyota Prius looks absolutely awful.

The Mustang won't look that good anymore. :scared:

I quite like it.
Still looks better than the 5th gen Mustang from 2005-2010.

Not gonna lie, the Prius has started to grow on me.
Same, saw it outside of some dealership and it doesn't look as bad as it was when it was launched new. Especially the rear end of this car. I think the headlights is what ruins it for me tho.

It's not bad, but I personally like the design of the Prius Plug-In a lot better

Not to mention that the Plug-In probably has to be the most comfortable car I've ever been in, and most fuel efficient.

The BMW i8 is an ugly, ugly car. I suppose it's meant to look futuristic and wild, but the thing is a total mess.

I'm not sure, I mean it's not stunning, but I don't think it's ugly. I quite like it's futuristic looks, looks refreshing. Completely subjective of course 👍.

However, one BMW I think is truly ugly, is the 2-Series Active Tourer

It's proportions just all seem wrong, and the front end looks all dorky. The rear end is the same, those rear lights don't do it any favours. Mind you, I'm not a big fan of BMW's current design language, so that's why I really liked the initial 8-Series concept, because it's a little different to the current designs.

Speaking of BMW, those round foglights placed in the middle of nowhere on the X-series are absolutely terrible. Obviously the whole thing is not pretty, but that's obviously an afterthought.

Mk1 Renault Megane Saloon

Understandably the Megane was designed to be a hatchback first and foremost, but the saloon version doesn't really do itself any favours with its hatch-with-an-extra-boot proportions, and the design of the said extra boot isn't helping the car either.

Speaking of weird adaptations, the Opel Combo C:

I always though this car had terrible proportions. The front seems so low and small compared to the rest of the car. Like it has a ginormous forehead. For reference, here's a drawing showing the car from the side. You could probably stack 3 of those front ends before you reached the car's height:

BTW, yes, I know cars like this are not meant to look great, but it was just a terrible decision to just take the Corsa and make most of it huge, but leave the front like it was. Others were doing it better, even at the time.

That's me with the Mk2 Ford Mondeo Saloon. The rear end just looks so odd and ugly, and those rear lights really look out of place if you ask me.

I think the pre-facelift "mk1" Mondeo Saloon did a much better job of it, looked more natural.

I recall seeing an earlier roadster design study from Marcos with a bulge over the 6 instead of that grill and color-matched bumper, and it wasn't terribly unattractive--I'd say more attractive than a TR7/8.

I'm growing to like the new Honda Civic sedan and maybe even the coupe. I thought I'd like the hatchback until I saw it in person.... Just looks smooshed.

The side profile is worse.

I'm actually one of the rare few who are quite fond of the design, ever if it's overdone quite a bit.

Anyways, a different ugly mass of metal.

The first word which comes to mind when I look at this is "Beluga".

Same thing with the Lexus LX 570, that's why I prefer Nissan Patrol's and Land cruisers over their luxury cousin.

Tacky.
