The Last Corner

Great tips from Dan and Carl đź‘Ť I don't have much more detailed advice to give, but more so one on the mindset and approach that I take turn 11 with.

I have trained myself to not be overly cautious through turn 11. It's easy to be too careful when taking that corner at the expense of rhythm and speed if you have a PB lap going, as you are more worried about getting to the finish line in one piece if anything. But of course being overly cautious through turn 11 can easily add up to a few tenths or so at the line...so often I'll just go for broke and hope for the best while trying to go at the absolute limit through that corner  I'm not sure what my T3 split is with the tuned car, but my T2 is only a low 48.1xx, but I still manage to get to the line in under 1'35.7 due to a solid run through the last two sectors.

My advice - brake early use the cub on the inside of the track and you will carry far more speed through the bend than if you braked late.

You may also want to watch his replay, and focus on the G-meter. It is never stationary, but rather twitchy. Again, not what I expected.

Bit of a clue there, I think. On the G meter you start losing traction and sliding out when the meter goes above +/-1, so if you're taking a corner with it below 1, then it means you;re not pushing as hard enough as you could be through the turn.

MarkWebber maintain trust that the car won't need a great deal of correction whilst exiting the corner

'taps' the throttle

For what it is worth, for someone who is getting very frustrated and is still very slow. With the tuned car I seem to keep a higher speed than most mention, about 119km/h through this turn at best. After the little tap on the break, aiming to catch the grass in between the wheels, I pulse/tap the trottle (when my speed is less then 125, otherwise I can not hold it) to keep 119 to the curb on the left and then accellerate full.
I notice I accellerate later then Dan at all times.

PS: I get most corners fast at times, just at max 2 fast in one round though.

Interesting. In my best laps I seldom have an apex speed above 110 km/h. I am, however, at full throttle there so I am still able to reach 156 km(h at the end of the kerbing. Different lines probably. I try to use as much of the left hand kerb as possible.
yes, well that might be part of my problem, going too fast at the apex and not being able to nail it fully until later through the turn. Different lines for sure, and I'm sure i have the wrong one ! :)
i should have saved a lap where I really thought i did get it right so I can go back to see what I did right.

So it seems my technique of half-drifting through this turn is counterproductive!!

Great advice from all, now we shall see if I can apply it in any way, or even remember it......

Hmz, my main problem with this corner is when exiting it, kind off halfway there is a bump in the road this has trashed my laps several time's most of the time with the Road car btw.

Wanna thank everybody who explained what to do with that last corner. I have the same problem. Allthough i'm by far not as fast of the most of you guys here. This could really help me with my next session of headache during the Academy  If i dowload any ghost that is about .300 till .500 faster then me, i can keep up till the chicane most of the time and being faster till the back straight but losing it all ad the last corner :banghead:

@Tony1311
Please stop posting and do everybody here a big favour and delete your profile. Don't you get it, people are being really tired off you.

GOLDEN RULE-The exit of the corner is much more important than the entry, espically when you've got like a mile long flat out home straight.

Thanks GTP CarlPKY and GTP Timeattack for sharing sage advice. It goes to show that top racers are good guys (girls?). I'm in Ohio so I'm not far from you Carl. Not sure if I'll ever catch you guys but I'll sure keep trying.

In my opinion, the last corner isn't the most difficult one... but it makes or breaks your lap - the speed you carry through there will define your speed on the looooooong straight. You lose time all the way to the finish line.

My problem is the start of the lap: I just can't get the tuned car to accelerate properly out of the first corner(s), I tend to hover the gas for too long, waiting for the car to stick. If I hug the curb on exit to accelerate earlier I spin out 5 times out of 10. It's in the first sector I lose bundles of time...

I can improve in the others sectors by fractions, but I'm sure I can improve massively in the first.
