The Last Round of Kenny's Muscle Car Competition!

here you go Kenny, hope it was worth the wait!

The three key aspects of a muscle car to me are Speed, Power and Style.

Final Entries

Speed - This sick purple puppy pulls high 10s with a terminal speed of 121MPH!

Power - Of course to get a good time one needs to get some heat into the tyres! :D

Style - With a win in hand, it's time to cruise down the strip in style 👍

Musclecars. They mean three things:
Sticking it to their European rivals when it counts the most:

Not holding grudges, as even the Europeans like a little muscle once in a while:

But most of all, they are about being on the top when it comes to style:

I know you said variety would be better than not. But there's nothing sweeter than the look of a MOPAR parked displaying her sleek lines. Just sitting there breathing, resting and knowing that there's not a thing that can outpace her under full on acceleration. Just the sight of a Hemi or a 440 powered MOPAR is enough to make most other so-called muscle cars cower. Too many times they've seen only her tail lights as she muscles her way over the horizon. She is very graceful as she powers herself down the road or the strip yet she emits raw power even at rest.

BEHOLD THE MIGHTY MOPAR

Just for grins:

Alright, that's 20. That should be all - although I'm still going to pm 440 Charger for his.

If anyone else still wants to enter you still can until 440 posts his set or I decide to close it.

swiss you should've photoshopped them all onto one scene :D

toranado your shots are a bit dark.. if i were you i'd brighten them a bit in photoshop.. i'd do it for ya if u dont have an editing program.. :dopey:

Have you ever been to the Mopar Nationals in Columbus OH, and cruise Brice Road??? It's pretty sweet! I have been there the last 5 years...

And Kenny, since you really want me to enter, I am going to take some shots right now!:)

OK KTB, I have finally taken some shots, so you can finally end your comp! So here they are!

Smoke Em' if You Got Em'!

The Drag Strip! Tune it up during the week, and take it to the track on Sunday after Church! (I wish this was the 1/4 track in GT4 instead of stupid Vegas!:grumpy: )

Classic Styling! The old Mopars sure are beautiful!

This one was another I was working on, but it just ain't got it! This is not an entry!

Hope they are worth the wait KTB!:scared:

Well, if KTB would rather have that burnout picture rather than the other, than he can pick it. But I just liked the other one more for some reason.

440 CHARGER
Hope they are worth the wait KTB!:scared:

They sure are, great job.

COMPETITION CLOSED!!!

Results won't be up for a while, it is going to take me a looong time to sort through each pic!

I'd like to say thank you to everyone who entered :)

By the way: I know this is a completely different subject, however this being a muscle car comp I'm sure some of you love drag racing - so I need two interested people to join my WDS Tournament (link in sig) - I would greatly appreciate it!

Edit #2 - thank you mymkovski! One more person needed!

nice work 440
looks like you started to mess around gradient mapping

Haven't made it up there yet. Once I get my Cuda in a little better shape I'll make the trip up there. For now though, I've got the Southwest MOPAR Mini-Nats right here in Dallas. Every year there's about 100 or so MOPARS gather together for that. Not as many as in Columbus but not a bad turn out.

Sorry for getting off topic.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programing.

Thanks suzq but I'm not that talented yet. I'm lucky that I've been able to figure out what little bit I do know.

better shape? looks like the cuda is already a prize-winner judgin by ur avatar.

Well, since KTB says it's OK.....

I need to re-do the carpet in the interior and trunk. The engine compartment has a few scratches and I'd like to repaint it. And there's still a couple of small dings in a couple of the trim pieces.....So in my humble opinion, she needs just a little bit of tweaking before she's anywhere near ready to visit Columbus. :) But she does good wherever I've taken her in the past (mostly locally). Out of 20 or so shows, she's garnered about 15 trophies of 3rd place or better in her class.

So what does your Cuda have in it? We (my dad, brother and I) are in the process of building up a 440 to 400-500 HP (depending on how much money we wanna spend) to drop in our 73' Charger SE (see my sig).

And we are hoping the Nationals get moved to IRP in Cleremont Indiana, because that is just 45 min away from where we live! But if you ever make it to Columbus, make sure you make it to brice road!👍

Awesome stuff guys! I love talking to people about their old cars. It's why I founded this club on yahoo. I bet that's been a labor of love for you, Swiss.

(If a moderator deems the link against the TOS then I can remove it, but I'm not advertising it - just showing people my love for old cars!)

440...... she's bone stock. Everything on the car is original or NOS replaced. She's a 1966 Barracuda Formula S with a 235 HP 273 cu in, factory 4 speed, limited slip rear, factory discs up front, close ratio steering box. These are all factory options that make the Formula S different then a regular Barracuda. Plymouth only made in the neighborhood of 6,000 Formula S in 1966. Approximately 3,000 each with either the automatic tranny or the 4 speed. And to top it all of, she's only got about 43,000 miles on the clock.

I did add a few "upgrades" and I don't think I'll be adding anymore. What I did add are dual exhaust (with Flowmasters), air shocks to hike up the tail (just to give her some attitude) and off course the only wheels that look good on a mid-sixties car....14" Cragar SS wheels with P235's on the rear and P195's on the front

Sweet Charger BTW. I like the color.

so kenny, what do you think about my pics? I have the feeling i won't make it in the finals so just critic them please. So that i know what you guys are looking for in nice pics.

Btw Brock. Our pics have alot in common. :P

Results for the last week of competition

First off I'd like to congratulate everyone who has ever participated in my muscle car photo competitions. Without steady people entering each week this would have flopped. Thanks for making this a success 👍 👍 👍

With that said, I'm sure you're all eager for the results. First, though, I will explain my process of how I chose the winners this week. Instead of comparing each picture side by side like I usually do, I rated each picture 1-10. The lowest score was a 4 and the highest score for a picture was 7.5. Also I gave a rating 1-10 for each person's theme - their presentation/wording/explanation. The highest placing people typically did better on their themes. This doesn't mean they wrote out grandiose prose - I just agreed with what they wrote. Also - since the numbers were so close to each other, plenty of people tied with their overall total. So - the only fair way I could think of to seperate them was to give the higher place to whoever posted theirs first. 3, 4, and 5th tied as well as the 6 and 7th spots.

6th: speedy_samurai
7th: Brock5000
8th: treefingers
9th: somebody
10th: vr6gti72

Kavster05 earns a solid 5th spot. His theme was his best asset - in fact he got the highest score (9). The pictures were pretty good, too; I liked the last one best. Your s/n fits you well (05) :)

JTSnooks sneaks into fourth overall with his cool GTO shots. Simple but to the point his theme really helped him, too. I really like the calm mood presented in the first picture.

Mymkovski delivers again with third place. He would have had a shot at winning if that Camaro wasn't so warped. I really love the second picture, very nicely done. Another high scoring theme.

The runner-up for the last week is atlop. This guy always seems to do well with muscle cars. Pic #2 looks pretty realistic, and there's no better feeling than what he describes for pic #3.

Your winner for the final run of Kenny's Muscle Car Photo Competition is joseph2435. The whole Steve Irwin thing was pretty funny but of course I didn't give extra points for that. I like the 4 different Vettes all in one shot, and I *really* like the second shot. Great angle on that one. The third, however was pretty boring :P

The competition was super tight, you've all improved a lot since the first week. Joseph won by only 1/2 a point, which shows you how close this really was. Even the lowest score wasn't that far off.

Although I never entered my own pictures into this (for obvious reasons :dunce: ) I am going to include three of mine right now so that I can put them into the poll. So, without further typing:

Muscle cars are simply put.... in your face. They aren't the humble cars asking politely if they may please use the track for one quick little run. Hell, they OWN it. They are mean, dirty, and that's why we like them.

Muscle cars and their priveleged drivers have no fear. Only a special type of person can catapult a vintage big block Cobra through twisty narrow city streets. Do you have fear? Then step out of the vehicle and let the real men and women conquer the beast.

Finally, muscle cars are just plain fun to drive around. You don't need an excuse to take your favorite ride out for a spin. Nothing like RWD on the snow! Also, muscle cars have style - so they work nicely with scenery - simply a beautiful sight.
