They are.
Energy goes into creating those things (in our minds or reality), but they aren't energy themselves. Or at least that's how I would look at it.

There are no other resources for you to do it with ;)
Maybe it would have been better to say that a desire has no physical component of energy? I saw the potential for word play here, but I was hoping to side step it.

I was wondering if there's anyone here who either knows about, or subscribes to the Law of Attraction. For those who don't know, it's a New Thought philosophy that came to prominence with the release of the film The Secret in 2006 that says that all people give off energy at varying wavelengths, and they get back equivalent energy wavelengths from nature. Meaning that if you're in a high frequency (i.e. you're happy with yourself and have a very positive, optimistic outlook on the world) the good things will happen to you, and if you're in a low frequency (i.e. sad, depressed, cynical, pessimistic) then you may lose money, or become ill, or have relationship problems or whatever. It goes a bit deeper than that but that's it at its core.

It's not something I personally subscribe to, but my best friend does and so I've had a lot of discussions about it with him, and learnt a fair bit about it, and he's managed to win the minds of several people at university who I think are attracted to idea that you'll be rewarded for thinking positively.

Anyone here know anything about it?

It's real. The technical term is confirmation bias.

Being literal; desire is caused by a series of electro-chemical events.

Are you talking about a form of "energy" which can't be measured in joules, calories, watt-hours, whatever?

I was being literal. Desire is not an "energy" of itself, it is however the product of energy. Still, all those human abstracts are interpreted by humans and therefore come down to energetic exchanges.

I saw the potential for word play here, but I was hoping to side step it.

I left one right there for you :D

Oh God, for once I must agree with you.
I love me some @TenEightyOne as much as the next, but he is not God.

On the topic of the thread (sort of) - I'm open to all kinds of unseen concepts, and am far from a belief-a-phobe. I trust my intellect to not allow me to become entranced by nonsense, considering that it's possible that a certain level of commitment is required for an authentic trial of "otherworldly" stuffs and things.
