Had a strange one last night. I met my grandfather who died seven years ago. I don't know where we were because the surroundings were just an all white blur. He seemed taller than he was when alive (from 6'3" to about 6'5"), his voice was the same but his skin felt like rubber.

It wasn't scary. Just strange.

I once had this dream where I was being chased by the police. My escape vehicle was a... Chevy Silverado.
Another dream was that I was walking with two cartoon characters (Dib from Invader Zim and May from the Pokèmon anime) in some sort of building. I walked up to a machine (an ATM maybe) that scanned my face and thought I looked like a Most Wanted criminal. I suddenly was surrounded by security guards. I turned around, and Dib and May had confused looks on their faces. I turned back to the machine and punched some more buttons, it scanned my face again, and the security guards left.

I had this dream where I went to a stupid car show. The guy who set up the show wanted to get an award from Xbox. Yep, X-bloody-box. He also set it up without the mayor's consent, which is illegal, but he held it anyways. I paid no attention to the cars there, they were just riced-up cars. Turn 10 Studios would probably pay zero attention to that.

Then, from a distance, I heard Highway Star being played in a gymnasium. I tried to run there to sing, but I was told to wait. As I got there, the gym was closed. I just sang the rest of the song and lip-synced the instrumental parts.

I feel like the dream I had last night is a repeat but was slightly different from the previous that happened a few years ago, but with pretty much the same plot, just different people in it.

Long story short; In a strange coastal terrace house, some others and myself come under attack by some warrior types who we fend off. The next wave of attack comprises of one of my old girlfriends and her identical twin (which she doesn't have in real life). They enter to attack me and another (can't remember who) and as we fight a huge tsunami like tidal wave sweeps into the front of the house and knocks us all about the place. The last thing I remember is looking for a safe place to take cover for when the wave hits.

Truly odd.

I had a dream that suddenly I was set to be wed to an East Indian woman. The problem was I had never seen her before in my life, but it was the day of my wedding. She was very much looking forward to it but I made the tough decision to call it off because I did not know who she was! Must have had something to do with me watching the Hindi film "Queen" recently.

After that me and others swam at ridiculous speed across a part of the ocean to something of a water amusement park.

I got on a 'white water raft' type ride, and what do you know, Cara Delevingne was on the ride. It turned out to be an extreme ride and we barely survived. After the ride she decided to spend the rest of the day at the park with us. When we were finished I convinced her to give me her number and we planned a 'date' later that week. Weird.

Well uh, that was interesting. Had my first nightmare in quite some time.

In it, I was chilling at the computer in my bedroom (browsing GTP funnily enough) when suddenly there's an excessively loud knock at the front door. I answer it, and it's skinny biker-looking fellow dressed in all-black. He says he and his crew go around detailing cars, I say I'm not interested and shut the door after he leaves.

I go back to the computer and then a few hours later I hear a loud vehicle pull up outside. I look out my bedroom window. It's a large black van with gold trim. It's parked directly in front of my house. A little bit spooked, I decide to go lock the front door... except when I exit my bedroom, I see that the front door is wide open and there's only the screen-door between me and the biker guy who is walking towards me freaky look in his eye. I rush to try and slam the front door closed, but he enters the house before I am able to do so.

He says something about me needing to visit my dad (who is deceased) in a sinister voice. And he just keeps walking towards me, so I try to hold him back... but he keeps walking, pushing me back in the process, and repeating the line about paying my dad a visit. I shout for help, and that's when I awoke.

This reminds me of a creepy story I once read. I'm guessing you at least didn't wake up holding a knife to your throat, or anything that extreme? :scared:

Had a dream last night (nightmare?) that I was walking with someone (unknown) down a road and we came to what looked like a river crossing. Though the water was a bright blue color similar to tropical sea areas. I noticed some large metal pieces in the water and asked whoever I was with if a plane had crashed here recently. Then upon further examination we determined that it was the bridge that had been washed away. I glanced over to my left and saw another road that went across so we decided to walk over there to use it. As we were walking that direction, I remember looking down and seeing small holes in the ground that were the same color as the water. Then a few seconds later the ground gave way and I fell what I estimate to be 20-30 feet into the water below. There was a hole in the side of the cavern so I swam out and met up with the person I was with down stream a bit.

And that's all I remember. I woke up thinking to myself, what the F was that all about?

So I dreamt that someone cut the lower part of my legs off, and even after waking up, I feel a bit of an ache at the cut-off points. Is this very typical?

I had quite a vivid (if bonkers) dream last night that I kept returned to after waking up a couple of times. It involved taking part in a virtual reality live-action computer game but with real weapons. I was with two friends and we were each handed a different gun - one was a massive rifle like an AK-47, another was like a modern sawn-off shotgun and the other was a rather puny looking pistol. I got the sawn-off shotgun, but despite looking powerful it was extremely disappointing and it fired small pins instead of bullets... I then proceeded to lose it and spent the rest of the dream trying to find it again.

I keep having these weird dreams where I'm in a combat situation. I recently had this dream where I was on a rooftop running across and was shooting with an ACR I think at another building, one of those parking complexes or whatever. Then I jumped onto a truck and ended up home. In another one, I'm in my attic (destroyed, probably) and I'm in a tank top, jeans, and boots shooting a big ass machine gun.

I had a dream where I was with a girl. We met this ghost who told us to do something. Next thing I remember is running from some gangsters. They yell at me to stop but I keep running. I get tackled by the gangsters, who hold me down. They then tell me that the ghost killed the girl I was with. I ran to the ghost (was now human for some reason) and I killed him. Strange dream, but it wasn't a nightmare.

I just had one of the most random dreams of all time. Apparently constantly waking up briefly and falling half-asleep to resume your dream can lead to some pretty bizarre stuff.

It started fairly innocuously... I was back in the Navy on a ship. And some people say that the military's like high school all over again, but in this case it was literally high school.

For whatever reason, Jim Sterling (of YT fame) is also there and he's supposed to teach me how to summon my Persona (it's a videogame thing)... except I can't find him, which turns out to be because the captain is having an all-hands call on the flight deck. Ok, so I wait and eventually Jim comes and teaches me how to summon my Persona. We engage in a battle against some shadows, who apparently just appeared for the sake of me learning how to wield my Persona... how nice of them.

But I get sick of the Navy, so I leave and find a job in the civilian world. I get one... except I don't really know what my job is. So I just sit around doing nothing, which is fine. But eventually I get bored so I ask someone. They tell me to check my assignment in some spreadsheet. It says "Creative" or something to that effect, so I walk around and find a table with a bunch of people doing artsy fartsy crap. A girl I liked back in high school is at this table working.... but that doesn't matter to me, because I'm apparently Tobey Maguire.

Cut to Kirsten Dunst who's apparently distraught over news that a Spider-Man has died, though the news didn't specify which one. She comes running teary-eyed to a gravestone crying "Tobey"... but when she gets to the gravestone, it's a different Spider-Man. "Oh."

End dream.

I had this dream 6 months ago but I always forget to post it so....I woke up under a bush. Dazed, eyes blurred. I stood up and peeked outside the leaves. I saw men in covert security uniforms (bodyguards) gathering in a small area and they're having a bit of commotion. When a man sneaked behind, pointed a gun at me and shouted, "Who are you?! What are you doing here?!" Shocked, I didn't know what to say. Though the place looked familiar, I still asked him, "Where am I?" The man said, "You're in the President's Residence." Then I saw a man lying down wearing a red shirt where the bodyguards are and I asked him again, "Who's that man lying over there?" He said "Duterte. He was assassinated."

I've been having unusually semi-lucid dreams recently.

I've been in dreams where I am not conscious that I am dreaming but I am aware that the situation I am in is not real. An example; last night I had a dream that a girl I am interested in and have seen once or twice suddenly cut all contact with me and went off with some mystery man instead. Upon seeing them at a party, I very distinctly remember thinking to myself, in the dream, "When I wake up I'm going to give so-and-so lots of grief. So-and-so is going to be in a lot of trouble." because I was angry in the dream.

But even acknowledging that I am in a dream and that I will wake up did not trigger the realisation "Oh, I'm actually in a dream. Neat." or indicate any lucidity. Instead, the dream carried on in the same way that all normal, non-lucid dreams do for me. And this has happened on a few occasions now.

Normally I only dream maybe once every couple of weeks, but I have had a dream in two of the last three nights. I'm sure that they are connected, but I have no idea how.

The dream I had Sunday night started with me and a friend of mine, I have a big crush on her in real life, sitting on a sofa talking. The room kind of looked like the living room in my house, but I didn't see enough of it to be sure. She was filling out some papers and that is what we were talking about. Then we were outside of a house with a big field around it, and she was standing in front of me, she was wearing white. Then she hugged me and kissed me on the cheek, she then leaned her head against my chest while we just stood there hugging. After a little while I noticed my brother was standing a short distance (10 feet or so) behind her. The thing is my brother died 8 years ago. At this point I woke up, but I was startled for a few minutes because of how real it felt.

I had another dream last night. This one started with me and a friend of mine from high school walking in a casino we walked over to a blackjack table where another of my friends from high school was sitting. We then sat down, and I put the stack of chips I was holding on the table, I noticed that the chips were yellow and said $4 on them. I then made a stack of 3 chips and placed them on the table and we preceded to play. After a few minuted we stood up and left the table, then I heard the song "Jessica" by the Allman Brothers Band begin playing. It played for a minute and then I woke up.

The connection between the two dreams is that the girl from the first dreams name is Jessica and that song is the one I have set as the ringtone for her in my phone.

I had a really strange dream last night. I was back in school and in some science class. The bell rang to end the class and everyone but me was in a mad dash to get out the door and into their next class. Then I ended up getting shoved head first into a square support beam by some random girl. I hit it extremely hard and somehow I felt and heard it like it actually happened. Next thing I know the late bell for the next class rings right as I'm stepping out of the science class and the hallways are empty. Then I start running down the halls, which were a strange combination of the hallways from my elementary, middle and high schools. At each set of doors, which were automatic sliding ones, the halls changed.

Suddenly I'm in my next class which was a woodshop class but ended up being a study hall taught by my economics teacher. I'm sitting beside a girl who I haven't seen in real life since the end of 6th grade before she moved. Then her bag falls over and spills on the floor under my chair so I help her pick it all up. She thanks me by saying "nice boy, very nice boy" and it was in her actual voice.

Then I'm suddenly in the halls at the end of the day and I run into my friend who was talking to a teacher about tools. I tried to talk to my friend but it was like I wasn't there, like I was just a random fly on the wall. Suddenly I'm outside the building with everyone else in a mad dash to catch their busses, except there aren't any. Then someone starts to blame it on me and ends up turning the whole school against me in a heartbeat. The person who started it was actually an old bully of mine but he wasn't wearing his glasses that he always wore. Then right as it seemed like everyone was about jump me, some girl who I know in real life and I've been wanting to talk to for a while grabs me by the arm and runs away with me, away from everyone else behind a random building and in her car.

At this point I can't remember anything else as I woke up, but throughout the entire dream it was like it actually happened. I could hear and feel everything as if I was right there in the middle of it in real life. And the ironic thing about it is I woke up with what was probably the absolute worst headache that I've ever had. This was just really strange and I have no idea what to think of it. :boggled:

I had a very real dream tonight where I sat in a Polyphony Digital board room meeting with Kazunori Yamauchi, translator-san and a female I didn't recognise.

I was apparently some important tester because I was talking with Kaz himself about how many hours I had played GT Sport and my thoughts about the online experience and other features in the game.

Kaz and I sat facing each other and we were both speaking English, he was absolutely fluent in it and there was no need for anyone translating what was said.

I remember, even in the dream, thinking how exclusive that moment was. Me sitting there talking to Kaz about important plans for the future of the company and also wondering if I was the only one in the world to ever hear him speak fluent English.

Thursday night, I dreamed that I was at McDonald's for lunch. I look out the window and see a meteor shooting over me and hits the ground in the mountains. I heard the explosion and felt the impact. It was weird...

Last night I dreamt that my brother and I were in a polygamous marriage with the same woman, I don’t know who she was though. It wasn’t my wife. The next thing I remember I was getting ready to enter a bike race and my handlebar snapped off somehow so I had to call and cancel my entry.
After that I was back on my bike being chased by a dog set on me by a gang of thieves who wanted my bike, I pedelled so hard I got away from the dog and when I woke up my legs felt tired. So strange. I felt as though I was conscious for the majority of it and could play my own part although I had little control over the actions of others.

What is this phenomenon where you falsely "wake up" during a nightmare? It's now the third time that it has occurred to me where I am having a nightmare, usually either I am lost/isolated somewhere or my immediate family all die, and then I wake up in bed, in my room, exactly as it is and I find myself unable to move from my bed. I physically cannot bring myself to get up or grab my phone. Then I realise some ghostly apparition is haunting over me, I'm looking at this black, cloaked figure and I'm petrified, powerless to do anything.

Only after the scenario ends do I actually wake up and realise that what had happened wasn't real. I hadn't woken up. What is curious is that the room is exactly as it should be and felt completely real like I really had woken up; just three days ago, I moved a chair next to my bed which has a desk fan on it. That was there exactly in its place in this false waking up bit.

On this particular occasion I mustered up enough strength to try and swipe the shadow creature with my right hand but it had no effect. On a previous occasion there wasn't an apparition per se but my room was being attacked by some outside noise or force and I staggered, fell out of bed and limped like a worm to try and turn the light on. I felt the falling out of bed landing on my right hip as real as anything.

I've heard about sleep paralysis but that supposedly only occurs during falling asleep and waking up whereas for me it's during the middle of the sleep. And it's supposed to affect people who really are awake? Or maybe not.

I have a recurring dream about going back to work in an office I used to work in over 20 years ago, and it usually appears around the time when I am looking for jobs or about to finish a contract. However, the whole recurring dream thing is now going a bit 'Inception' on me...

Eventually, after having had the same kind of dream many times, I began to realise that I was dreaming while it was happening. Since then, I've had dreams where I've said to myself 'I've dreamed about being back here so many times, but now I'm actually here'... only to realise later that this too is a dream.

But now I'm having dreams in which I seem to believe that I really do currently work in my old office, and that all of these instances where I have realised that these are just dreams must also be dreams (even though they are actually real).

It's left me wondering what would actually happen if I ever really did end up working back in that old office...

You are. This part is the dream.

Now wake up.

For some reason, I'm able to recall past thoughts that I've thought in my waking life while I'm dreaming. I will often see something in a dream, and then a lower state of consciousness will trigger a feeling of 'Oh yeah, doesn't this remind me of [insert real-world experience here]?' Recently, I've been dreaming about either being late for some important event, or getting ready to go but being left behind. I can feel myself getting anxious, and then it will trigger a sub-conscious thought that's usually 'But this didn't happen the last time I went to [insert real-life event here which I have successfully attended in the past]'.

Is this connection from the dream realm to the real world via a thought process common? Is this some form of lucid dreaming? Where I'm able to pull thoughts from my waking life and 'layer' my dream mind with its own sub-conscious? Sometimes I'm in control of the thoughts, sometimes I'm not. Recently I've started to believe that this isn't a vivid dream, but instead a high-level hallucination brought on by sleep paralysis.

This is probably the opposite of lucid dreaming:

waking up and remembering that you did something which turns out that it happened in a dream. It is so real that I still can't believe it was only a dream. The memory of this dream is like other memories I have had in this life.

I had an absolute belter of a 'lucid' dream this morning.

I woke up with the horrible feeling that either my alarm had not gone off or, more likely, I'd switched it off instead of snoozing it and then fallen asleep again. I was struggling to open my eyes and could barely focus, but I checked my phone and it was 8.30 already. "Crap" I thought, as now I had to get up and out to work quickly.

But then I started to realise that may be it wasn't actually 8.30, and I was still asleep and had just dreamed it... so I struggled to open my eyes again and decided to check my phone again - this time it was 10.20 already, and I panicked as I thought I was now seriously late for work - but again, there was something not right about it. So, eventually, I decided to actually get out of bed and check my phone properly - I woke up properly and sat up in bed to check my phone, and, sure enough, it was only 7.21... so, panic over... but - 7.21 doesn't make any sense. My alarm goes off at 7 and I snooze it for 10 minutes at a time - at the very most I could only have been asleep since my alarm went off for 21 minutes, but if I had snoozed it, then I must have dreamed all of that in just one minute... that didn't feel right, and, sure enough, I realised that I was, in reality, still asleep. By now, I'm starting to wonder what the hell the time really is, so I get up and out of bed, and go to the bathroom...

To my shock, a girl with a white towel wrapped around her hair and a white bathrobe emerges from the bathroom before I can get there. Clearly, I'm perplexed, as I live alone. She smiles at me and points back to the door I just came out of, and the penny drops that I'm not in my flat at all, but in my (female) next door neighbours' flat - but I can't remember how or why I'm there. So I go back into 'my' room (which is actually her room) and sure enough it is clearly not my room - it's tidy and has girly bed linen, curtains etc... and, sure enough, the girl from next door is in the other half of the bed, also half awake. I say sheepishly, 'Hello', and she wakes up and jokingly mimics me, saying 'Hello yourself' and laughs...

At this exact point, I really do wake up, and look at my phone - it's 6.59 am and my alarm goes off about 5 seconds later...

I had a pretty cool dream last night where I was standing in Edinburgh city centre, and then suddenly everything around me started to go back in time until I found myself standing in what appeared to be the Old Town several centuries ago. The cool thing was that cars that were present in the present day changed into vintage cars, then horse and carts and then disappeared altogether... it was pretty freaky, but it gave me a great idea about creating a time warp VR experience where you could travel back in time based on a combination of recent Google Street View images combined with CGI to recreate what the city would have looked like centuries ago. I would certainly pay good money for something like that... but it was pretty cool to experience it 'for real', albeit only in a dream...

What's your most common anxiety dream?

Mine is suddenly finding myself naked below the waist; for no particular reason and in a multitude of situations.
