they will compete with each other by default.......thats what happens when you have cars of the same size!

Tell that to US General Motors, who, at one point, entered all of the following vehicles in the same market segment:

- Buick Century
- Buick LeSabre
- Buick Regal
- Chevrolet Impala
- Chevrolet Malibu
- Oldsmobile Alero
- Oldsmobile Intrigue
- Pontiac Bonneville
- Pontiac Grand Am
- Pontiac Grand Prix

Twins rock, but ten-tuplets isn't as fun. :)

Its what GM is famous for, but each of them...well most of them fill a different niche in the same market. I mean think about it if you are a teenager in the market for a sedan (I know) you won't think Buick or Olds, you are thinking Grand Prix or Impala. Plus you have different options on em, like the GTP, SSEi, etc.

Nah - they all filled the same market. Some were remotely larger and yes, a couple were supercharged. But even I have trouble telling apart the Buick Century from the Regal. I personally find it funny.

Oh I'll agree with you on that, its funny. But I guess GM just thought they would cover every niche of the same market.

To start, i hated the golden logotype as well.

Chevrolet in Brazil always followed the Opel / Vauxhall style, including designing cars to be sold also by them ( Meriva, Astra Sedan, ... ). They always mixed the opel logo with the chevrolet logo in a discrete way. Just take a look:

I don't understand why they are using the golden logo. They started doing it on
the Omega (Actually a re-badged Holden Commodore).

Anyway, about the engines, remember that those are for the normal, family versions. There will probably be a SS version with a Turbo or a V6 engine.

The design is more similar to the actual Opel / Vauxhall Astra than the new Opel / Vauxhall Vectra. Why i'm saying this? Brazilian GM said it's using the Opel / Vauxhall Astra platform, and the sides and front bumpers are almost identical.

Anyway, just because the car is a Chevrolet it does not mean it will be sold in USA. Chevrolet is in Brazil for a longtime (actually since 1925), and most of the cars are designed here or are the european cars

Brazilian Chevrolet Line-up

- Chevrolet Celta - Smaller, different styling and more dreary version of the Corsa

- Chevrolet Corsa / Corsa Sedan - Almost exactly as the European Corsa, but with a different front

- Chevrolet Montana - UTE designed in Brazil

- Chevrolet Meriva - Same as the european (designed here)

- Chevrolet Astra / Astra Sedan- It's the old european generation with some differences in the front and back

- Chevrolet Zafira - It's the old european generation

- Chevrolet S-10 / Blazer - Both designed in Brazil

Hope that clears all doubts.
