Yeah easier intill you have to adjust them, got a broom stick .

(Refering to old school Japanese cars without electric mirrors)

I am pretty sure the next GTR wont be called Infiniti in Australia unless in the meantime Nissan sell Infiniti models in Australia, which I doubt. Like I said before this is all speculation and should be posted in the Next GTR dedicated thread.

hahaha. good one. but since we do have electric mirrors now, I don't see why they couldn't put them on. I've seen those RE-Amemiya RX-7s with 'em and they look allllright.

Well it's finally coming to America. Too bad the styling was too late. I'd much want that '73 model in the mag.

My dad owned a '73 Skyline 2000GT-R when he was in the Air Force in the '80's and he was stationed on Okinawa. Unfortunately, he didn't bring the car back with him when he came back to the states. :grumpy:

I remember this R35 concept a few years ago, and I was in love with it. Why did they just blow it off?

I think I've heard the next GT-R will just be a glorified G35. I hope not, they need to make the actual Skyline over here! But they won't because no one would buy 350Z's anymore.

RIP Skyline, you're officially gone. Just like the Silvia, Nissan just ditched 2 of their best known nameplates. Big mistake, IMO. Especially back in Japan/Australia, where everyone knows the car. Its like Ford saying "OK, we won't make anymore Mustangs or F150's."

Well I'm a little more at ease that it's just an interpretation of what the skyline might look like but it better change. It looks ugly as hell.

Hey Drifter, you do realize that outside of the import community, the names "Silvia" and "Skyline" mean absolutely nothing to Americans, right?

In fact, Nissan is going to have their work cut out for them trying to prevent the 2008 Skyline GT-R from going the way of the Z32 300ZX, and the Z's have huge promenance in the states.

Something that the European sports car manufacturers learned a long time ago is that in America you do not confront the Corvette at the Corvette's price. Corvette's mystique helped Chevrolet move almost 400,000 of the admittedly lackluster C4 generation. When the 300ZX, RX7, and Supra went Corvette hunting in the early 90's, it killed all four nameplates. The Z is the only one that has resurfaced, and it resurfaced as a more budget friendly sports car like it's 240Z ancestor.

In order for the Skyline GT-R to be a success in the states, Nissan is going to need a very large marketing campaign and a very special car that'll make it seem as desirable to middle America as a Corvette. Part of that is going to be more daring styling because the sedan based flying brick coupes that the last three GT-R's have been are not going to cut it when the competition looks as good as the C6.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

Layla, you make some good points in your post! :embarrassed: 👍 I have been thinking about what you said when it comes to marketing campaign for the new GT-R and it did raise some speculations in my head.

It seems that there is a good amount of Skyline fans in the US, but I don't think it will really mean that the new GT-R will sell well. We can assume right now that the price will range from 60K-100K. What does everyone think about that kind of a price? I can see where you are coming from when other manufactors try to put in something as a sport car with a Corvettes price IN AMERICA! :embarrassed:

My biggest concern about when the new GT-R comes to America is that I personally don't see right now how it can sell here. I don't even think the average Skyline Fan can even afford a high price tag of a Corvette or higher. Just thinking about it, I can only imagine the typical American buying a luxury or a Corvette with that kind of money. It will be difficult to sell the new GT-R due to Corvette's home court advantage of fans and crowd.

But then again, I could be wrong too. The new GT-R could sell well since there are alot of Skyline fans. They could already be trying hard to save money or working harder in school. I just wish I can fast forward time so I can see the new GT-R get the cover taken off. If I like it, I will be sure to attempt to get it before it dies in the US. That is IF it dies... :embarrassed: IF it does...hopefully there will be enough aftermarket parts available. :embarrassed: Just my 2 cents! 👍

It's sorta wierd, this new GT-R. Similar concepts, I often hate, but somehow I get the feeling that it's going to look really cool going down the road. The fact that it's so futuristic will make it incredibly distinctive. I'm starting to like it.

You remind me of how some cars look can look a bit ugly in the pictures, but look better in real life. :embarrassed:
