The new "skyline"!

Yes, point taken... but the Skyline 350GT that is sold in Japan is not a "version" as you say it is... it is THE car that the Infiniti G35 is a version of. There are subtle differences between the 350GT and the G35 like badging (left-hand drive etc), why are there subtle differences? ***Because they subtely altered the 350GT to be sold as an Infiniti in the US .***

Take as another example the Holden Monaro/Pontiac GTO. I would LOOOOOOVE for you to go onto www.ls1.com.au and tell them that the Holden Monaro is a version of the Pontiac GTO... you'll probably get the same response (but worse) as I'm giving.

Cheers man, debating is good.

Well your post up top there came over real sarcastic like... like I haven't got a clue. So "get what you give" I guess.

It's all good though! :)

Nah, I'm pretty sure they'd understand and not be dicks about it.

yeah but i mean not the badging on the wheel and things, i mean all the branding you dont see without pulling things apart. things like on the back of vents etc. my skyline has a little nissan printed on the windshield wiper, fuel cap etc

eg. Ford brand nearly every part they make even tiny things, sometimes you have to look close but its there
Yeah, it's the same thing as on my car. It's an Acura EL (based on the Civic sedan). It has Acura badging on the exterior, interior, etc... But when you look really close, the badging on the windows, and under the hood in the engine bay all say Honda (except the valve cover, which has the A symbol).

Exactly same on my I30T.. i checked the window does say "Nissan"

Yep, even, like I said, the window sticker says "Honda PPG" The lights say Honda in them, even the VIN badges have Honda "H" symbols :P

yeah, see thats what im talking about so you can see what the car is based from (not like you didnt know already)

more fuel for the fire:

infinit xvl concept, look it up ;)

last thoughts:

its the same car. just diff configurations for their respective markets to boost sales. when nissan set out to make the new v35, they planned for a us market release as well. and since infiniti is just a subsidary in the us, nissan is the parent core which makes the cars. so of course the parts will be labeled nissan. the badging, etc (us or japan) is just superficial marketing to sell the cars.

By any other name would smell as sweet"

So ricey. Do you mean the 350Z will replace the Skyline in racing? Plus, I thought the new Skyline is the Infiniti G35 Coupe...that means I buy Infiniti Coupe for $40k, and I'm driving a US Spec Skyline...

What the hell are you talking about? The picture of the 350z? Well those parts are there for a reason, Aerodynamic ;).

Yes that is true, but the Skyline in Japan isnt the famous GT-R... just to tell you. You might have already known.

I just bought a 2003 Infinity from a local Mercedes-Benz dealer. The invoice identifies it as a G35. The badging at the right/rear of the car, though, (where G35s normally read "G35"), says it's a 350 GT. Aside from that, it looks like every other G35 on the road with a premium sport/suspension/aero package. I've tried hunting around the internet for information about an Infinity 350 GT, and as far as I can tell, it doesn't exist. Might anyone have more information about this?

Thanks in advance,
350GT

Congrats on your new car! Did you get the coupe or sedan? I've got a coupe and love it. To answer your question, no a "Infiniti 350GT" does NOT exist. However, a "Nissan 350GT" does exist...that's what our cars (G35's) are sold as in Japan.

Thanks, Jordon.

I'd been shopping around for a low mileage luxury sedan with at least half a power punch for quite a while, and finally found it in this 2003 GS35 4-door with 7500 miles on it. It's a terrific car (not quite a head turner like the 2-door coupe), but it's still a top notch mid-sized sport/luxury sedan that's a joy to drive. The Infiniti G35 coupe looks sweet, that's for sure, but I know what I'd do with a car like that, and it ain't pretty. Most or all of the "sports" cars I've owned ended up feeling the strain of high rpm valve timing and forced induction, only to become loud, uncomfortable, obnoxious garage beasts with engine/power train breakage problems.

This car will be enjoyed, as it is, and that is all...

By the way, after a few more minutes of searching (using the correct spelling of "Infiniti"), I've concluded that my car is a falsely rebadged G35 sport sedan, haha.

Take care,
350GT

This should be good.
BTW, before you try it out, just remember that Holden fans are the most obstinate and tunnel-visioned people alive, so think out what they'll be like when they actually have a point to prove.....

Disclaimer: I have nothin against Holden fans, except they tend to get a little boring with the whole one brand is better than all others in the world combined crap.

The Gtr-35 looks like a tortoise shell, still miss the good old R34 especially the BNR and the 25gt...

for starters the pics of the new GTR are concepts so it is unknown what it will look like yet.

for second, instead of calling it a "BNR" why dont you just say GTR? if you insist in calling it a "BNR" then you might aswell call the GTS25T a "ECR" (or whatever trim levels you are refering too). just curious do you understand what BNR means?

Seriously Viper you're saving me alot of typing... cheers!

Hahaha!...Your point is well taken, Glut. Holden is certainly GM's parter in crime when it comes to making a car "LS1-the-competition-to-death". I just want to know if the new Pontiac GTO will be able to stand the test of time and sit quietly after 10 years of hard work, without making those gentle squeaking and squealing sounds while it slowly rusts away in the distance....as many of its American born cousins have done for decades.
