You would be hard pressed to find a bigger collective of fans than those of the Star Wars universe. Most people will know exactly who Darth Vader & Luke Skywalker are. The original trilogy has since spawned a further prequel trilogy, a TV series, countless books, video games, figures and all sorts of collectibles (and plenty of junk). This thread is for discussing any thing to do with the Star Wars universe.

I'll kick things off. Some of you will know that I'm a hopeless fan. I'm not the biggest fan of the prequel series but I found it to be okay as long as I close my eyes and block my ears whenever Jar Jar is on screen. I currently own 58 Star Wars video games, countless books, All the movies and some of the TV series. I have a first edition of the Star Wars book that was released about a year prior to the original movie being released, and also have the first 4 issues (immaculate condition) of the Marvel comic series. Needless to say, my wife puts up with a lot. :lol:

Today I purchased these Adidas Rebel Alliance sneakers:

Feel free to discuss, show us if you have anything SW related that you collect, discussions about the films or what the latest thing George Lucas has done to bastardise the original trilogy some more.

I own two ForceFX sabers: Anakin's from Episode 3, and Vader's from Episode 5. I desperately (and I do mean desperately) want Darth Maul's saber because it's badass as is he.

He defeated himself. Obi Wan had nothing to do with it. Damn Sith's and their arrogance.

I'd post pics but they're boxed up somewhere and I actually need a new one for Vader as I got a bit too overzealous with, how should I say, fight reenactment. :lol:

I was a little bummed that Darth Maul defeated Qui-Gon. I would have liked to see his role continue on. I enjoyed his slight more free thinking Jedi ways. A lot of the books elaborate more on his off centre interpretations which clash with the order and are only really mentioned in passing in the movie, almost as a side note. Plus Liam Neeson is a bit of a bad ass.

I've heard good things about the Force FX series sabers. I don't own any at all but a hobby shop up the road from my place has a 1:1 Yoda Master Replicas saber for sale. Real expensive though, but they don't have a blade. It has a real quality finish and is only limited production.

Thought this looked kinda funny, and since it was only $10 brand new on ebay, I thought what the hell. :lol:

^ Any Good?

When LEGO first came out with their Star Wars Collection, I tried to get as many as I could. Never kept them in the box but now-a-days I want to see what I could re-assemble.

Also a big fan of SW:Battlefront II

Oh wow. Those look really cool. I might have to look into getting some of these board games. Nice one TB.

Well I thought I'd have a look at how my collection of games is coming along. I'm still way off from owning all of them. I did see an original SW Arcade machine on ebay the other day for around 4K here in Australia, but I'm fairly certain my wife would divorce me if I bought it :lol:

These sneakers arrived today. I do feel a bit geeky for purchasing them, but for the casual passer-by it will just look like a normal pair of sneakers I guess. Some of the close up details are pretty cool though:

I thought the paper the shoes were wrapped in looked pretty cool.

Today I totally geeked out when I came across the Star Wars range of clothing by Marc Ecko. The hood turns into a mask, I ended up purchasing this one (although I almost ended up with the Boba Fett one);

Been a while since I put an update of the Star Wars game collection, been too busy playing SWTOR :embarrassed:. That game is amazing and probably the best Star Wars game I've ever played. But I won't go into that now as it has it's own thread. Anyway the collection is up to 71 video games in total now, prepare to be amazed and horrified all at the same time :lol:

When I was in elementary school/early middle school I was a diehard Star Wars fan. Knew loads of ridiculous info. Now I can barely remember info from the two trilogies, let alone the EU and minute details I knew previously.

My girlfriend would just die if she saw this thread. I would love to get her one of those crazy expensive lightsabers but man they are just to much for me, or more rather i dont think i would spend that much haha. We have all these Star Wars Pez heads, a few Star Wars masks, all the movies and so many posters.

I've grown out of Star Wars over the years. I use to love the Original Trilogy, but George Lucas meddling in things that he shouldn't, and changing a lot of what made the OT so good, has really turned me off the movies. I wish I could get ahold of the DVD set of the OT that has the special edition and original theatrical cuts. Those are the definitive versions.

Then there is the prequels, and well... yeah. I won't even go there. I just recommend watching these reviews instead;

Those lightsabers command a pretty penny. I can't justify the cost of them considering they would be of little use in reality. But still I do admire them.

The original trilogy is amazing, Empire in particular is a brilliant crescendo to the story. The only thing that bothered me really in recent years is when they altered the original movies. There was no need for that. The new trilogy is okay at best. They are not great movies like the original trilogy but I think they probably cop a little more flak than they should because the Star Wars community feels it has so much ownership over it. That said Jar Jar should not have been introduced or pretty much left behind to be crushed by the federation army. That alone would have improved the prequel trilogy a fair bit. The main problem is that they are trying to cram too much story into the prequels thus taking focus away from one single characters development & progress. It's a pretty similar to what I thought was the problem with the 2 matrix sequels as well. You loose focus, the story gets muddled and you loose the connection to the protagonist.

The great thing about the expansion of the universe however is that some great stories have developed from the franchise that are totally unrelated to the OT and prequels. Take for example The Old Republic series (includes KOTOR, SWTOR and the books). These are stories from hundreds of years before the original series and they are terrific.

Some of the clone war stories are great too. Not the ones related directly to the movie or the TV series, but some of the books are a lot of fun. And then there are stories like Death Trooper. I'm not a big fan of horror but I found this to be an interesting take on the Star Wars universe introducing a horror story which is not part of the normal Star Wars formula.

I really like the Knight of the Old Republic series. :) I've been playing the Old Republic and having a lot of fun with that. The stories for the classes are pretty cool, not always well written, but I don't expect a lot from a video game, and even less from an MMO. It's passable, and the cutscenes are a real nice touch, that add something that would otherwise make me ignore the NPCs so I could get to the next quest area. :P

I still really want a next generation version of X-Wing Vs. Tie Fighter.

There were way to many issues with the prequels overall to go into detail here. The biggest problem with the Phantom Menace was that it didn't even really need to be made. The link I gave, goes into a lot of detail about why this is, but the biggest problems stem from story writing 101 going out the window. I thought it was more interesting to watch how George Lucas had a complete disregard for even the most basic of movie making. This is a professional in the industry at this point, he has been making movies for a real long time now, you would think he would know what he was doing.

I get the impression that during the filming of the prequel movies, at this point, George Lucas is a big deal, and Fox Studio's trusts that he knows what he is doing; so they let him just go hog wild and not question anything he does. That was not the case during the original trilogy. George Lucas was not allowed to make a lot of the changes he wanted in his films, his vision for A New Hope, for example, was vastly different from what ended up being made. And believe me, that was for the best.

Ultimately though, what matters to Fox Studios and Lucas Films, is money. And in that regard, the prequels were a huge hit, making over a combined total of 3 billion dollars on just the movies alone, that's not counting all of the toys and other products that spawned out of those films too.

The Empire Strikes Back is my favorite of the movies, and probably a lot to do with that is because Lucas was not the director.
