Or they could add a forest and mountain setting in course maker and enable point to point layouts.I personally want a city setting but that might be more for course maker 2.0 because it wouldnt work with its current format.

Easy, make a custom Toscana course with -5 width, take any car and stick to 1 lane i do it all the time, keep revs low, shift from abt 1/3rd of the rev range, and voila youre cruising.

I'm going to try this as soon as I get home.

Imagine if we could race or drift card in mountain roads like the ones in Japan. That'd be truly incredible and it'd feel just right for the Gran Turismo series. GT needs more thugs like this, if they'd implicate a wide variety of tracks and roads we could race on then GT would become the most epic racing series ever!

One of the earliest NFS, if not the first (yes, I know I'm a dating myself here) ran on highway 101 along the Oregon coast. My brother and I put hundreds of miles on that stretch. I'd love to have it back.

This. If GT gave me the kind of casual driving option on a regular road that the very first NFS did (1996) I'd never need another game. Driving around the same track over and over gets stale quickly (to me.) A point-to-point mountain pass or coastal course would simply rule. I'd pay another $60 just to get to make a proper road on a full editor.
Imagine the fun of recreating the road you raced on when you were a dumb teenager, possibly in the car you raced with, and getting to drive it in a million dollar car.

Drool.

NFS: Porsche Unleashed (the best driving game of all time (besides the GT series of course) had great country roads to cruise on. If they remade that game with SOTA physics I'm not sure I would ever play anything else.

This would be pretty cool, but they should keep all the actual tracks. You should be able to drive to the tracks- race the roads next to monza fir example. You could drive to trial mountain if you made a fictional road as well.

I think you're on to something. If the track editor was beefed up a bit more with content, like mountains, trees, bodies of water, I think this would be a good start.

I would take this over a livery editor any day.
