Oh I forgot to mention, I just got my new 580EX II flash to replace my sigma. All I can say is oh my God what a difference, the build quality and picture quality are so large I wish I would have done this sooner! I did some test shots on a tripod, 3 shots each in different modes (auto, P, Tv, Av, M) the canon got it right every time while the sigma gave me in some cases 3 different exposures with no changes in settings :( The canon also recharges much faster, and is 100% silent when recharging no whine at all (which I guess I'll have to get used to looking at my flash indicator instead of hearing that familiar whine. The canon also has a nifty catchlight panel which comes in handy shooting portraits.

Never again will I cheap out on my camera acessories.

also something cool I ran across but seems a bit overkill

Damnit, the last page is full of incredible shots 👍

Nice work guys 👍 I hope I can go out soon as well, there's so much snow now, I don't get anywhere :indiff:

My buddy and me were bored and since it said it's gonna snow tomorrow, then we wanted a little session in before it does, here's the pics:

I'm looking at taking registering my domain and getting a site soon, I want a clean site, preferably flash, and something I can easily edit myself. My two choices so far are between a site from bludomain.com or Flashpalette.com My only concern is that I'm limited in galleries. What I wanted to do is have a section for each type of photography (models, cars, etc) and under each one have a sub gallery for each shoot I do showcasing a few of the best photos. However since I haven't found a way to be able to easily do that in a flash setting (unless I'm missing something?) I'm thinking of a few alternatives.

1. Just have one gallery for each type of photography

2. One gallery for each type of photography and one feature gallery that displays photos from just the last shoot.

3. One gallery for each type of photography and a blog type of thing (wordpress?) where I put up galleries from every shoot.

which seems like the best alternative? Is there anything I might be missing that I should look at?

Wow, there's some serious camera skill in this thread.

I  to many of you!

How have I bypassed this thread for so long? Not any more!

I took this picture(s) a few years back but I never put them together. I did a quick job stitching these in Photoshop today and thought you guys might like to see it. My friend and I were driving around (quickly 👍) around 5am and we HAD to stop and look at this valley. I swear this is what it looked like. I barely did any level adjustments or anything.

I resized it quite a bit as the full sized was 22,302px wide. It's still huge and at 3.5mb I only recommend it for those on broadband.

The border kills the poker chip shot IMO Derrict. Otherwise, excellent 👍

it's part of my auto batch process to resize the photos. it looks fine on some photos, others it hits the subject depending on framing

Stacking filters and using HUGE lens hoods would cause vignetting, but I just use Photoshop.

Well, I had a trip to a Porsche dealer today, and seeming I'll just be told off if I post these in the DYSAGT thread (And told off rightfully too!), they deserve to go here. I must apologise, the weather was rubbish. All I did was a couple of adjustments in Photoshop concerning levels. All the photo's are available in full size if wanted.

Anyone know how much an external flash stand costs? Something to put on a counter top, and anyone know what software to use to make a slideshow with music? I have about 350+ pictures im putting on to Windows Movie Maker, and when i try to save it, the estimated time just keeps going up. Any advice?

My flash came with a flash stand I dunno how much It would cost, its just plastic so I imagine you could get one pretty cheap at your local photography store.

For slideshows I use ProShow producer

As mentioned, most flashes include a small stand so that it can be placed on a flat surface.

I use a clamp that allows it to be mounted on different objects, such as doors, chairs, shelves, etc

Any comments on mine?

The focus on 4 should be on the wheel, but it's focused on the vent instead, and 5 would benefit from being tightly cropped.

Yeah see what you mean about the 4th one, however when you mean tightly cropped, how tightly cropped?
