Big business has a lot of incentive to raise prices during administrations which are even remotely hostile towards them, particularly when they have the scale to arbitrarily set prices without fear of competition - WalMart and the like. They make more money while simultaneously placing pressure on that administration for "creating" inflation which either will force that administration to relax enforcement/rules/taxes or, better yet, induce people to vote for an administration under the guise of reduce inflation (that administration will merely make the economic environment more friendly to big business - or be a total wild card and blow up world trade, who knows?)
