Getting some good drifts there mate, good job. You using a controller? It's taking me a while to get used to drifting in Pcars with a wheel, it's hard to anticipate when the car is going to grip up sometimes.

Thanks. No, I'm using a G25.

Oh ok cool, what degrees of rotation do you use? I thought it was a controller 'cause it looked a little jerky that's all (no offense mate, your drifts look better than mine). I've been learning with 900 degrees, but I'm thinking I should turn it down a bit to make it a bit more direct, as it's hard spinning the wheel so much without the feedback you get from a real car to anticipate when the rear end is about to step out or regain grip. What DOR would you suggest?

I'm using 900.

Really? I never would've guessed. Looks very jerky and direct for 900, especially on straights. Maybe I'm going about it wrong trying to be too smooth with the wheel on 900. Pcars physics seem a bit odd for drifting, I'll try to be more rough with it.

Well this ruined my race.

First he tapped me up the back and then tried to pass on the grass, now in all fairness my line was a mess, but only because he tapped me up the back.

How's that Playseat working out for you? Would you recommend it?

It does look like an excellent solution.
I'm going to do a nice and detailed review once I've lived with it for a few weeks, but my initial impressions are excellent.

Pro's
  • Its quick and easy to set-up and is a reasonable size when folded
  • Wheel and pedals can be left in place
  • Wide range of adjustments for height and pedal distance (from led back F1 style to up close to the wheel BTCC style.
  • Great quality materials (Powder coated steel tubing and Alcantara fabric) and excellent padding, I spent three hours in it the first day and no back ache at all.
  • Very, very stable considering how it looks, your weight actually keeps everything from moving around.
  • FFB from the wheel travels around the frame, added slightly to the immersion.
Con's
  • No height adjustment for the wheel platform, not an issue for me, but could be for others.
  • Wheel reach adjustment can be done by unscrewing the wheel platform and moving it to one of three positions. However my T150 is not drilled for screws and as such I could only use one of the positions. Its perfectly fine in terms of reach for me, but shuold be considered when looking at it. If you wheel is drilled for screw mounting you shouldn't have an issue with this.
  • The 'larger-bodied' may find it a challenge to get in and out of, as you can't adjust it for width. I'm six foot and 14 stone however and fit it well

For the money (£140 from Amazon in my case) I think it represents very, very good value and it suits my needs perfectly, as I can't have a fixed rig, but wanted something which was stable but quick and easy to set up and strip down.

Every Friday night at 10:30p CST I'll be doing a quasi-retrospective F1 race using the classic Lotus cars in Project CARS before moving onto the Codemasters F1 series. This first season starts with a look back at 1963, using the tools that PCars provides.

As posted above, this first race wasn't without controversy.

The second race was a few days ago at Imola. I'd like to tell you that it went better... Well, you'll see when it gets posted.

The next race is this Friday at 10:30p CST on Twitch. 50 laps at Aintree!

Getting better with the transition to the wheel.

Started on wet tyres in the hope the rain forecast would come on early, had a struggle with they overheating just before the start of the rain (including one spin), but as a result managed first in class and third overall.

Still managed to kiss the barriers a fair bit, but the wheel is certainly making tracks such as Bathurst a great deal easier.

My worst race ever :( everything that could go wrong did

mechanical damage
a few spin outs
and on top of that the engineer guy / pit guy kept telling me how bad i was doing with the lap times :(overall finished last 1 lap down

here is the ending minutes of it
