ok if u want a cheap car. go get a 1960-1975 V-dub bug. my dad got one and it cost 900. and thats super cheap. and if u like stickshift. this is tha car. all bugs from 1960-1975 are stick. its light air-cooled and it wont over heat. since its light u wont take a lot of gas. my dad has a 1972 bug. and no serious breakdowns. and this car is popular!!!!

AND IT STILL RUNS LIKE NEW. but the milage is off da wall

You're just not going to get much of a car for $2500.00.

Would you care to have me describe the number of Bugs I've seen that have been destroyed by engine fires, due to overheating?

well i was talking about under ten k cars... but if you want a relaly cheap car... i would suggest not going close to the edge of your budget... because when it breaks you will not be able to fix it...

neon duke... a gsx eclipse is great... but like any used car... particularly these mitsu's... it will need money money money to fix when it craps out on you...

in my posts teh =the... i just never look at what i type...

you know what i would suggest save your money and wait until you can get a car that costs a bit more money... you gotta think about maintainence costs... remember that

if your parents are gonna help you out... get hte cheapest POS you can find like a tercel or some crap... or an older celica... someting that ppl cant jack the price up on because of its classicness or some crap like that... personally i would not go beyond 1980... i mean that is hella old and if you cant pay for upkeep whats the point

The Tercel is actually reliable. There's one in my fleet and so far [1995 completely stock no options], we haven't changed the spark plugs until two weeks ago and it has 70,000 miles on it. The maintenanace isn't that expensive with it and it handles pretty good as long as you don't go over 85 MPH on the freeways or else the car will start to feel like it's floating. It will be really scary if there were strong winds, then that's a different story. You might be able to find one in the classifieds or any other cars in the classifieds. In the Bay Area, it's hard to find cars with only $2500 unless you go to a junkyard and pick up the car yourself and start working on it.

Using 'teh' has become a cliche for stupidity on this forum and elsewhere. When regular posters are trying to sound stupid, they often substitute 'teh' in for 'the' because it's funny how many people with poor grammar skils do that unintentionally.

That makes them a bit hard to read. ONE period or full stop at the end of each sentence, capitalizing the beginning of the next sentence, etc. really does help people figure out what you're trying to say.

Just a word to the wise.

Personally i do not believe that i have poor grammar skills. I just cant type. lol. I will try to write clearer for the sake of those who dislike the way i am posting.

Anyways, i was thinking of a pre 90's tercel (or maybe early 90's). I believe you can buy this car for under 500, and maybe 800- 1000 dollars would be spent making the car reliable (as long as the car was running and in relatively good condition). I think one of my friends bought one for around 200 and spent 500 to get it fixed. It's economic but in no way sporty.

cmon u guys! i could go buy a nice low mileage se-r for $2500! or get a high mileage corolla gts for like $1,000 or less spend another grand or less for a new motor (16v) and $500 on new shocks and springs. if i look around i might be able to find a e30 bimmer for like $1000-1800 dallors and get a new motor for like $500 or so (those 2.5 ltr I6 motors are kinda cheap). its not like that would be my only car when i get it. i would still have my kia to drive till my other is running (if it needs work) and my dad has almost all the tools i would need or he would be able to get them and he has ALL the knowledge to help me out with ALL the work. i already talked to him about this and he said hed help me.
